  1. Not really, I saw 1ST 50KM and stopped there. My thoughts were awesome. Keep going! We forget what it was like in the beginning.
  2. Damn, you guys are cheapskyts! we have been paying R 20 or is it 25 for many moons already at Kilarney on a Wednesday evening and then that is only for max 1hr if the light holds. To date no one has complained yet.
  3. I don't believe us funriders can be over trained. We don't do enough time or distance or intensity. What sort of hours are you doing 20-30/week? if not I don't think it is an issue. But just my thoughts. There was a time I was doing about 16hrs per week and doing either 2 races a weekend or at least 1 race and 1 150km ride per weekend. The problem came when I stopped cycling and now want to get back into it. Now it Feels like 8hrs a week is over training. Ut comes down to conditioning your body. Nothing more nothing less, of course if you start cranking up the hrs then it is a different story.

  5. Slight error here on the 1st point, it is the difference is speed that kills (or could) not speed itself. my 10cents worth. (getting ready for the demise of the 5c)
  6. Oh by the way did you know that 1Time is now basically a Quasi State/ANS airline............... Use it don't use it. I think I will be using them to Polokwane anyway as they seem to be the cheapest notwithstanding anything.
  7. From what I see most of you do not fly regularly.... None of the carriers are any better or worse than the other. It is a friggin bus service, that is all. Sometimes it is late, on time, cancelled or whatever. there are clear rules and tarries, and once I started flying the cheap lines, no matter which, you realize that you "Pay" for cheap. It is a bus and is fast. So inf you want to take a lot, pay a a lot. It freaked me out a while ago, I paid more for 20kg extra than I paid for my flight AND 20kg luggage. But if you do the math and see what amount of your flight fare is actually going to the airline you will be thinking how can this be so cheap. I used to be a frequent flier and now I am a frequent driver, as I often have to carry a lot of kit to JHB and beyond. So I do the math, but I always leave out my time and the AA rates per KM out of the equation as the books will never balance then. So suck it up and deal with it!!
  8. ZTR Olympic rims on Ringle Dirty Flea hubs - R3,2k The S&*t!! Light easy to service and quite bulletproof.
  9. Back to the bloody rules: '2.8 Feeding of riders MUST take place in front of their stationary team vehicle, which have to be parked completely of the road. No riders are allowed to have any assistance whatsoever, while still on the road.' Here is how I COULD read this rule: I must get my "feed" from in front of my team's stationary car It must be parked completely of the road No one may help me while I am on the Road, So if there is a bag being held out and I grab it all is cool as no one has helped me at all. I took it. To be even more pedantic, even if I stop and I am still on the road and someone pass me my feed out of the cooler box they would then in effect be helping me and I should be disqualified.......... Feeding bags have been used since I can remember at the DC and if you did not train with bags rather not use them.
  10. MTB = SRAM
  11. If you stop giving power to the pedals things should stop not keep the momentum. If you coast you need to put the effort in to get things back up to speed. Or am I missing something, is spinning for the freewheelers out there.
  12. Sorry dumb question does a spin bike not allow you to freewheel? if so you cannot compare this to a track bike!
  13. Superfly is GF/Trek and after sales service sucks Huge!!!
  14. Lube for sure, my wife says the same thing...
  15. Milo, Choc Nesquick etc. Probably the cheapest and the best.
  16. And sometimes it is easier to help the due in front of you close the gap than bridge you and the gap you left.
  17. Yes it does, top 50 overall consider the bike (50 is maybe too low already), otherwise get something you like and are comfy on. Climbing is gonna be there AND YOU WILL CARRY YOUR BIKE SOMETIME! So bear this in mind. Done 3 on HT 26's and never had any issues except the legs. Ass was never an issue. If you training what you are gonna be riding it will be fine. On another note forget all the K@K about mechanics and and. Pragma bike wash and lube (OK maybe a chain and a few small odds and ends) is all you need. On my first one we went big and it cost big, thereafter we did it on what the Epic gave us (except for the recovery drinks) and we were fine. Makes a huge difference to the cost.
  18. But the makers were only contracted to make a certain qty. So they are not loosing money, unless they were contracted to produce volumes for that particular market. Still does not make it right.
  19. Agreed nothing beats Merida support in MHO!
  20. Cool machine. Lots of happy miles!!
  21. Eat and TITS, you need to do a few training rides at race pace and at or over the distance required. That's all folks. You seldom train at the intensity you race (even if you think you are pacing yourself) so in the race everything comes to a head. Do more long rides and or more high intensity training rides and you will be fine no matter what your nutrition is. If you trained with it you will be good to go. Damn at the moment I hit the wall at 50km, why? I am *** sleg and think I can ride harder than I can.
  22. As posted before, if you had an invoice and then paid. All would be fair and good, but damn, if you pay money into someone's account without an invoice or reference number you must be stinking rich or way stupid. What if they said what are you talking about?..... and then dragged out the refund. That would have been a serious issue. I once paid mony into the wrong account and it took a looong time to get the refund.
  23. Why bother with the expense? Just take a spare chain and lube. If you go into the epic with newish kit you will be fine. If a shock goes there are agents there anyway. Save the money and hassle. You don't need it.
  24. I don't know, but even on the same size frame it varies from bike to bike.
  25. Ja but you could sell her again and again and again............ Become a pimp. then you can get a new 29'r every year and have change!https://cdn.bikehub.co.za/forum/public/style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif
