  1. Oi, Fand, when have you been training? Damn I cant even do 100km at the moment.
  2. At that weight and riding heavy will cause dents for sure. So what to do choose better lines and try to ride lighter. Oh yes most dents in the rim can be sorted out with a bit of soft ands and a shifting spanner.
  3. They should not just focus on one aspect possibly a few.
  4. Ja but on an MTB they become sharp enough to shave with and have no teeth.
  5. Just a short note of thanks to the Merida agents in SA. You Rock!!!!!! Why you ask, well I noticed a small hairline crack at the top of my headset and I was still thinking about contacting the agents to discuss. But I was afraid of the schlep and was not in for a fight. (OK I am also a Merida Fan I am on my second one, my wife has one and my son has one) WELLLL!!!! what happens next I am out riding with a mate on a Saturday(Also on a Merida mind you) and we are caught buy the Cape Town Merida rep (Sorry His name escapes me now I will post later). And I say in jest, you are just the man I want to speak to. He says why and I show him. What does he do? Nothing NOT!!!!!!! 1. He Takes a photo of crack and BB serial no. and my name and number. 2. He Askes if I can take the bike to Mason Bike Inn. 3. Says he will sort it out by Wednesday (This is Saturday remember andthe Tuesday is a public holiday) 4. I say cool and we ride on. 6. Can all you doomsayers please remember to switch the light off when you leave! We need the power. This happens everywhere from time to time. So be it. Regarding the song/s I dont believe the Malema soing should be sung, but it should not be banned as it does have a history. Delarey was not banned even if it did stir up things a bit. Malema just like to draw attention to himself. D**s that he is. Questions. 1. Can it be proven that the song caused the murder????? 2. all all blacks the same?????? 3. Are all whites the same????? 4. Was it not just an incident due to local issues between the two/three parties. 5. Do you know all the facts????? Respect to both sides leaders for controlling the situation for now. See the glass as half full and work towards solving the problem or go find greener pastures. All you negative ppl are giving me the Grrrrssss.
  7. History, in the days of old there were very few entrants in these events with little or no backup. It was for security/safety purposes. You still have to carry a set amount of security/safety equipment. Since then the races have been better attended and the safety and seconding is better. However the team thing has stayed as it lends a very different dynamic to the races. You have to manage your partner and him/her you. Even with the big fields now days you could still be left out in the cold for quite some time depending on where your ability level is. But the team dynamic is probly why it is still a team event these days. Speak to anyone that done one of these events and they will tell you that this is often the thing that makes or breaks a teams performance.
  8. what about the Holdfast racks? They have served me well at way good pricing.
  9. I was on suikerbossie and the front pros were in the big blade all the way and not going slowly.
  10. Agreed I did this a long time ago, but you will have to reposition the FD and set it up. But why I ask??
  11. Or insure the bike........ AllRisk I presume........
  12. Agreed go with the one that talks to you.
  13. who cares, The Merida package will be better value for money and the bike is a dream. my 2c's
  14. Long slow read - damn us Saffas. the Lat is wear a helmut PERIOD. Unfortunatly we have an attitude oflaw the law is for others not for me. Hemuts are a pain in the ass and I am still not convinced that they are that benefitial. but that is my opinion. Not the LAW. Yes we can say it is a choice, but but not wearing a helmut is breaking the law simple. but this is cool - breaking the law I mean - We speed, drink and drive, litter, pirate DVD's, Games, Movies, etc, etc. To me the problem is not if we choose to do whatever. it is if we respect the law. AND IF THE LAW IS ENFORCED. If no laws are enforeced then so what and we continue as is .......... Who cares. no point in getting your nikkers in a knot!
  15. sorry this is a rough artist impression:
  16. No they dont, and the bike can't fall over as it has it's fork clamped in the skewer. also rember the bar runs across the width of the bukie.
  17. another easy one is to get a piece of flat metal about 60mm x 5mm then go to Sportsmans Wearhouse or your bike shop and get the bicycle skewer brackets. (Those things that you find on the pro trailer racks) attache them to the piece of flat metal and bob's your aunti. Put it flat on the floor of your bukie and remove the front wheel and place the fork in the skewer clamp. This allows for at least 2 bikes to fit in a corsa bukie with a canopy on. the nice thing is you can take it out when you don't need it.
  18. my 5c's check what you eat and drink and train more. It works. I lost 12kg's in 2 months and all i did was cut down on the beer. That is all!! Then i stopped training and started drinking again and hey i have picjed up 10kg's in 6 weeks. do the math. KJ in must be less than KJ out and you loose weight. now if you train on top of this the weight melts away.
  19. Hi I never rode it, but that is MTB. ask anyone that did the 100miler in cape town earlier this year, or last year's Sabi in december or the year before. During day 4 I think we carried our bike for almost half the race. and on day 3 the majority of the single tracks were totally unrideable. Very heavy on the bike parts as well (2 days riding needed replacing of full drivetrain, BB and shock service and and and) But that is MTB
  20. Depends where and how you ride as well as how you look after your chain/s. I have had anything from 500 to 1500km from a chain and 1000 to 5000km from a BB. The casette and chainrings is depedent on chain ware and maintenance. IMHO there is no comparison to road.
  21. Depends if joy the benf you want to realy enjoy the benifts of running tubeless. 1.5 to 1,8 bar. ther is no way you can do that with tubes long term with rocky rides.
  22. Cool dude! Die baas is terug (aka DIE DIKNEK) Welcome back to the perambulatory world.
