  1. Call Freewheel cycology, they will have the details.
  2. Brackenfell Protea Heights. I had the same issue about 2 months ago. in out in about an hour.
  3. Ride the bike, no chain rust then.
  4. How long you been riding? I used to break chains all the time until I learnt to manage my changes, Cross chain and changing under load is death to a chain.
  5. 9spd also works on 10spd even the cheapest ZAR90/ser ones
  6. If it was that lucrative why does the winter league still struggle? Not knocking it, it serves a purpose for the committed cyclists. The question I ask is why does it not continue into the spring summer? Is it because it is just easy to sit back and enjoy the fruits of someone else's labors? or is it not really that profitable?
  7. Here is the Crux, how many took part in the winter league What sponsorship would be arranged to cater for the Funride volumes to cater for costs of traffic etc. remember winter league is normally on a short circuit in the sticks where cost of road closures and traffic are way less. Truth be told, if you tried to organize the spring and summer league racing, I do not believe you will get the turnout you think for the following reasons: 1. Funriders are afraid of "racing" as it is hard. 2. Funriders want to compete, but against their peers, yes it is nice to compare against the elites, but it is not really that important. It is more important to say I beat Joe soap. 3. You do not have the critical mass to cover the event costs, unless you have the races out in the sticks on a short course. Funriders want to say I did that route from here to there and there and there and and... not I rode around a 10km lap and got lapped 5 times and did not know who was where etc. 4. The elite riders bitch no end when the long route meets up with the short route and they don't get out of the way and, and, and. Think of this happening continually from about 20km for the next 50 to 100km? just a few thoughts......... So I believe if you do go the "pro" route it will stay with the same volume of attendees as you had this winter league so PPA will not feel it. My 2c's
  8. Bump. Please give me something....
  9. OK so a mate wanted to get a Kona Entourage or a Spez Status 1, but no one wants to offer either of them at a reasonable price. What else is out there at a reasonable price with support in JHB area?
  10. Irrespective of the definitions by the Institute of Civil Engineers, all that counts is the definition by the authorities and as indicated by legislation and indicated by cartographers for this purpose.
  11. Agree totally. We are our worst enemy.
  12. maybe he doing pioneer trek...
  13. depends what training you want. Botlary hills more marathon style.
  14. The rear derailure and hanger has no impact on chain suck. It is the chain sticking to the front chain ring. This cannot be prevented by any mechanical means. Only by keeping the drive train in good condition.
  15. So why not farm Rhino for the horns? May be a stupid question, but we do it for meat, wool, leather, etc. Breed them and slaughter them as per normal. that will change the pricing structures. Even if it needs to be done in stalls.
  16. You can convert ANY tires to tjoobles esp with a ghetto conversion. Just don't cut the sidewall when trimming the tube. I did once.

    Karoo to Coast

I am looking for one of the WAGS that are going to be there to drive my care to Knysna. Any takers?
  18. 32 spokes should do it as long as they are built properly.
  19. Use the old manual method. Roll it out on the floor and subtract % for tyre presure.
  20. Damn Burry, Is a good ambassador for the sport. Nice interview. He has come a long since the Dirty Hippo days. I think there is a local MTB pro that rues the day and comments he made. +1
  21. It is a lotto, my bike came with 2 of these co called tubless ready. Would never run this on the back with my weight, 95kg, bit was happy to put on front. you can see where that wheel is going. Not so much the back. Long story short, the 1st one i put on the front was fine, until I started climbing on long climbs. with the side to side flexing of the sidewall it kept going flat through pinholes in the sidewall. If you don't have tons of Stans in it could be an issue. Relay freaked me out on the Trans Karoo, having to pump at each water point. Put the other tyre on once I got back and all was fine. so try it out. Apart from that it seems like a cool tyre and sheds mud quite easy. Just has a soft sidewal so you need to run higher pressures that normal, I am running 2bar which seems to be the lowest I can go with my weight. would like to get to about 1.7/8.
  22. That is normal no matter what sealant you are using. the reason it would not seal on you is most of the juice was already gone. some of the other k@k like bat seal does not even last a few weeks and makes golf ball size balls of latex in the tyre.
  23. Those plastic skins work for me. Looks a bit sif but keeps everything together and dry you can shower bath etc.
  24. Looks like an awesome race. I also did the math and came out close to your no's. Damn, just to find the money now.
  25. When do you get the chance to do this? Finish ride at between 8 and 10pm after riding on the mud? Hu? I am lucky if I get to wash my bike once in 2 weeks. OK a rinse off after a serious ride, but that is it. Dam creating a sparkling bike after each ride (even if I had the time) takes about 1 - 2 hours. Where do you guys ride?
