  1. WElcome Anton and welcome to the Hub. Please note the health warning: "The hub is highly addictive and no-one will accept resposibility for any side effects caused by prolonged exposure to this medium." It could be that your saddle is too low and your quads arer connecting with your ciggie / joint while you're in motion. Try raising the saddle or getting rid of the twak. Take two disprins and call me in the morning.
  2. I was told "No pain, no gain." "If it doesn't hurt, you're doing it wrong." Can't say I ever noticed buring sensations in my quads before, but they certainly let me know they were abused afterwards. Try to stop smoking while you're riding, that may help.

OK Mud. My realy name is unkown. I have been a hub / web crawler for so long I have quite forgotten my true identity. My blood group is AB + I am happily married. My wife is happy (though only the good lord knows why), and I'm married. ID number is too long for someone my age to remember and if it happened more than ten minutes ago, it's inadmisible.

That's a big place D*G. Care to marrow it down for us? I might not be a stalker but others may be, so how 'bout making it easier for them.
  8. Drinking after cycling yes please, during cycling no thanks, I managed a face plant sober. Go figure. Before cycling, no way, the ground is so much closer when I am on foot and better yet, it's hard to fall off a chair. Two drinks and I am anybodies. Don't ask what happens at three drinks. Damn, you have to be good to drink and ride, I can't even walk and chew bubblegum.
  9. This is bad news. Really, I aksed everyone so nicely to take it easy this year and let me be the last one to fall. This just highlights how easy it is to fall and be seriously injured. Before my crash, I seriously thought it would never happen to me. Then I found out that it happens in a herat beat and it can change your life forever. We are all responsible for our own safety and we need to be very attentive to this sport. Either tha, or we count the cost. I hope the cyclist makes a full recovery. So Ricky, how are you getting along there bud? I am feeling better than I have in a long time and the doc said I could start driving again after three weks. Glad to say that I can still drive and the recovery is going well.
  10. BB, there is no accounting for some peoples tastes. You know why they makes specialised? To keep the hooglians off the Colnagos.
  11. Dude, you have to be carefull with those physioterrorist types. Take it very easy and don't go doing any damage to yoruself now ya hear. I'll still have a week or five to serve before I can get back.
  12. The best known marketing ploy for selling a lady anything is to put a "Sale" sticker on it. Women are the best money reducing agent known to man.
  13. Hey Ian, how's that knee coming along buddy. You healing up and taking it easy like the doc says? At least your knee should stand a bit of laughing unless you are slapping the desktop, and YOU MISS.
  14. Andy, your opinion, as well as those of BB and holy, are subjective. You were very into Trek bikes only a short while ago. Colnago are beautiful bikes. Spez are just bikes that look good. Trubies Pinarello is beautiful. Don't know Andy, why not bring your new Spez and a case of beer over to my place and we'll drink it gorgeous.
  15. Now I'm thouroughly foncused. They say beauty is in the eye of the beerholder. Holy is the one drinking and BB say Spesh are beautiful. 'ssup, BB, Holy drinking and you gonna have the hangover? Edit: frik, with typing like that one would swear I was the one being inebraited by Holy's beer. Hat, coat ....Slave2010-01-28 07:44:22
  16. Hey Astana, as an aside, it occurs to me that since LA has left Astana that they (Astana) will not be ridingTrek at this years TDF. Any idea what bikes they will be riding?
  17. Eish man and all. If iwas any younger I would have gone there and chooned them larnies what's what what and all right. 'cuase I can speak Indian and all you know.
  18. Oh no RB, that is not cool. Sorry to hear your recovery is not going so well. Ask the doc for some morphine dude. While you may not see all sorts of wonderful colours and other halucinogenic stuff, it is quite an effective pain killer. Hope you get over the pain thing soon mate. At lease I have cut down radically in the pain meds. Only taking them once a day now. I really was great yesterday until I sneezed.
  19. Crashing sucks, BIG time. Being crashed into is worse. When it's a team car, then that has to be the worst. Some chops should not be driving cars, but like that's just my armchair sportsman critic opinion. Hope you make a speedy full recovery Kurt. Hey IanJ, how is your recovery coming along dude? You know that with clipless pedals, you can take oneof your cranks off and ride with one leg? Good practice for efficient pedaling.
  20. And let's not forget RB as well. Yeah Puffer, must be the meds. Or maybe just dyslexia or maybe I'm just doff or I don't know how to type. Soon I am going to be chsing Mrs. Slave around the house to catch up on the "homework".
  21. Would like to try the Bob MArley method but the stuff he smoked makes me cough something awful. (Don't ask how I know this 'k!) Thansk Cat, yeah, woke up this AM feeling much better than I have for a while.
  22. Bwaaaaaaahahahahahahahah. FOFLMFAO. Very punny Gasper. Dude, you are not supposed to make me laugh.
  23. Thanks cat. The good news about recovery is it will be so lekker when the pain goes away. For the past two weeks, I have been sleeping in a "sitting" position. Propped up against the continental pillows. On the upside, I was able to lift my left arm all the way up to my head this morning. For some reason the shoulder feels stiff but it is def getting there. Supposed to go see Dr. Bones today (the surgeon who did the plate) but at R400 to go see him for a follow-up appointment to tell me what I already know, I have decided to give it a miss. The ribs still tickle some but gradually, the pain is going away. Damn, I am looking forward to being able to comply with performing marital duties again.
  24. HEy IanJ, that sucks man. Hope you make a full recovery. Sometimes we have t listen to the medical dudes. I used to think they knew "jack" but lately I m more comfortable that sometimes they do know stuff. Rather take it easy and get better dude. Ligaments are dangerous to play around with so rather do like the quack says. AS much as it sucks. So far, my ribs are still damn sore so not msiing the bike too much. Not looking forward to that period when they feel good and I still can't ride. I guess I have t listen to the good docs for my own good. Keep on mending mate.
  25. Good to hear you are mending fellow hubber. (Oh right, I forgot....) I can relate to the frustration of not being able to ride dude. I also had a bit of a mishap recently and it looks like I will be off the bike for 6 to 8 weeks. Thankfully the bike is A - OK. Really guys, it's easy to say that there will be other races (in my case, I was training really hard for the fast one). We know this but it doesn't make the feeling of being unable to ride any easier to bear. S2C may be coming up next year for RB, but like he was training for this year and next year may not be the same. Keep on mending. Anyone hear from IanJ?
