  2. Thank you so much! This is a really nice Christmas present. My choice was the Piket-bo-berg MTB Challenge and what an incredible one day race this is. A must do far everybody living in the Western Cape. Oscar
  3. Yip, great weather. Some pics of day 2.
  4. Seems the weather is going to be great. Even hot!!
  5. Seems we might just have a nice weekend. At least the weather up to the weekend looks good and will dry out the trails.
  6. Don't know. But I will be there next weekend! Will be my first Greyton Tour. Done the Houw Hoek in May and really enjoyed it. Just hope the weather will play along.
  7. The link to to all the trails in the Durbanville area - Tygerberg MTB club (http://www.tygerbergmtb.co.za/trails.html)

You also got the Bottelary Hills trails close by (http://bottelaryhillsmtb.co.za/)
  9. More info here: https://community.bikehub.co.za/topic/140544-26%E2%80%99-tubeless-tyres/
  10. There was always a free bus service running back in forth from the finish back to Amalienstein. Not sure if they still do this.
  11. If you like camping, you can try Op-Die Plaas camping on the Karoo side of Seweweekspoort. We have used it before and it's very nice. http://www.campsa.co.za/opdieplaas
  12. You might be right here. I checked my results again and the PPA results that is showing is for events that I have done while I was a member. I haven't done any PPA events when I was not a mamber.
  13. All my results show on Racetec, Even though I am not a member of PPA for the past three/four years. Just ride with your transponder. Your time will still be logged and maybe it will show. But one day when you become a member, everything will show.
  14. Wireless? Will be fun if the you get a cross signal!
  15. I got it at just over 1000m of climbing over the 55km. Most of this in the first 32km.

    Greyton Tour 2014

Apart from the Houw Hoek and Greyton events, there is Leeuwenbosch as well in December. All of them are non-timing multi-day events. And yes, I also like the non-competitive relaxing nature of these events. And they are much cheaper then the timed events. You must just pay for your own accommodation (if you need it). Know of any others?
  17. www.campsa.co.za A lot of camp sites listed all around South Africa that are cycle friendly.

    Houw Hoek Tour

Seems the rain will only be in the afternoon. http://www.yr.no/place/South_Africa/Western_Cape/Hermanus~3366881/long.html
  19. Check out www.campsa.co.za. Full list of campsites and pretty comprehensive.
  20. If you want to stay over in Franschoek, you can call Braam at Eagles Nest. This is a group/youth campsite and sometimes runs it like a Backpackers during the week or when they do not have a booked group. Cheapest overnight accommodation you will get in Franschoek. At the foot of the Franschoek pass. http://www.campsa.co.za/eaglesnest Old Paarl road sounds the best. Still a lot of traffic though.
  21. It might me a good idea to find somebody or a company that can handle it on your behalf. Like a shipping and freight company. I am also looking for somebody in Cape Town to handle something similar for me (not bike parts).
  22. Another race that got very good support at the end of the race to everyone is the Seweweekspoort race. A very well organised race and everyone is welcome by there name as the go over the finish line.
  23. Thats a bummer, walking back the last 4km. That the fastest downhill on the route you have missed!
  24. Not really. You can ride down to Olifants river but you can do that with the family. Nice for a night ride though. The ride to Groot Winterhoek will be your best bet. Mostly uphill to Groot Winterhoek and nice and fast all the way back
  25. I have done that route in September 2009. We started at Sanddrif. First day to Wuperthal and camped over at Mertenhof. Second day over the Packhyus pass, through Clanwilliam and stayed over at Keurbos and the last day past Algeria, up the Uitkyk pass back to Sanddrif. Total distance about 170km. It was one of the best tours I have done with friends. Note that at that stage they were busy tarring large sections between the Wuperthal turnoff and Clanwilliam. This is not a all gravel route anymore.
