    So true. I was running with a Seasoned runner this year, and he said, each year he has to train double as hard just to get the same time as last year. I agree with not doing too many endurance events, but feel you must focus on at least once when you hit 40+, so we focus on one super event a year.. The vibe, atmosphere and elation of Comrades is just worth the training you put in. Do it.

    Oceans '15 over Ou Kaapse broke me. At least it was a wake-up call to put a bit of effort in the next 5 weeks after Oceans. So if anything, Oceans will open your eyes!, But it is possible.

    Hi Jigghead We wear Nathan Hip belts that can carry Gels and Vitaforce tablets. There was sufficient space for 11 gels and packet of tablets for last year's Comrades (we took 11h51 - maximum value for money)

    Amazing km's / calories / time they do. Here's 68 yo Bernard Viljoen, currently 4th on the leaderboard (almost 2,000 km), having done 146 km for the day so far and coming to say hi at the SportsWorld Store. Well done Oom Bernie!

    What I've learnt from commuting is to have a die-hard commuter pack, something that can expand for extra gear, has enough pockets for all your wallets / access cards / locks, and sufficient hydration.
