I don't understand why everyone is getting upset about the location of the finish. 1. it was downhill to the start where you had parked! I'm sure about you, but I didn't need to pedal on the downhill. 2. if your family came with you, did arrive when you started and waited while you rode (that is very nice of them) could they have not walked up the hill to watch you finish? 3. imagine if they had had a downhill finish! Sprint finish would have ended in carnage........ 4. didnt the 94.7 also have a different start/finish, didn't find it a problem........... (flame suit on)

What bike were you on? Also in AL, gees boys rode a great race! Proper lung buster trying to stay with them when the group split! Well done

Also starting in AL. I am a bit nervous about this neutral zone down the hill, as being a larger guy and aero wheels downhills are where I pull the group back, or pull away from the group, so please don't shout at me if it looks like I'm attacking. Really I'm not!! So be kind to the fat kid!
  4. And on a Tues and Thurs? What's the average? I heard going up Jan Smuts the group splits, is this true?
  5. You bringing that beast out on Sat for Trailseeker?
  6. I understand, and I also love triathlons, but come on, the costs! Gees, it gets expensive. I am surprised more corporates haven't "bought" into the triathlon thing, cos every single race is sold out! Don't forget about the nutrition on and off the bike! Eating right is also a big part.
  7. Why are these events so expensive? Swim race R100, road race R250, running race R150 all equal R500. Swim and run inside so reserve so no roads etc effected. I think these okes are just making ludacris profits. Also: Will the ride be full road closure cos that stretch after the caves is pretty narrow with cars and bikes. Almost been taken out there on that stretch. Glad there is one here cos will go and support my friends, but too expensive for my liking
  8. Please wave when you go past me on the run! Cos I'll be shouting abusive words at you
  9. Shut up Trav! How many Ironmans and halves have you done!? #nuffsaid
  10. An remember to get those brick sessions in after a long ride. These are tough but make you strong. Even if its just 3kms, totally worth it, these are a must especially for noobs.
  11. Any marathon entries available? Know of someone looking to ride
  12. In Rosebank It's by the McDonalds/Woolies opposite the new Standard Bank building. They do roughly 35km to 45kms during the week. There are some racing snakes there so the pace is hot up front
  13. They start at 5am. On a tueday there are 2 groups and then Friday is the "coffee ride". I suggest come on a Friday and see how you handle it. There a quite a few mtn bikers so the pace is fairly relaxed (avg 25km/hr) then next best is Tues and ride in the B batch.
  14. I'm super excited for the Vuelta! Gonna be great to shout for OUR team!

Trav pull the trigger and do IMSA! Or do the double!
  16. A mate of mine just bought the 2013 bike from Velolife in Rosebank. I think a great bike for the price. He hasnt had any complaints. I think they're owned by BMC so can only mean good things at that price
  17. If your friends tjune you for having a lekker farmer tan and skinny white arms. You need new friends! You must wear it with pride! You have put some decent hours into getting skinny arms, you should be proud of it
  18. Panda have an unofficial factory store in their factory located in town. It's all the surplus stock they have which they will sell at a huge discount. If you leave in Jhb and don't mind doing some free advertising for a random brand then pop into the store. Only problem is that its only open during office hours during the week.

Hope you don't have any incidents like last time? Looking forward to you joining! Will be a good one
  20. Back to topic, I have one of these http://www.litexpress.com/en/headlamps/liberty/liberty-121-sensor/ it is awesome. It has a flashing light at the back, which I use when I run on the road at night. The LED on the front is super powerful and I have even used it for a game spotting in the Kruger. Really good on batteries. Great for night running!
  21. Take the plunge! It's JHB's biggest race! So HTFU! It will be tough whether it's the old route or the new route! If it doesn't hurt, you're not cycling fast enough!
