  1. I would suggest Millard Crescent, stayed there twice, about 2.5kms to the start. Also has braai and kitchen area. Highly recommended!
  2. Have you looked at the stock at CycleFO. Worth a visit, they are in the Petervale shopping centre and stock Castelli and Sailfish trisuits. They're last years stock but it's all the same really. They have trisuits with and without sleeves, so I would go and try the stuff on, you don't want unnecessary chafe etc on race day!
  3. Anyone know if this race is taking place again this year?
  4. Try the Cradle at 5:30am before the sun rises, eery quiet - super lekker
  5. There are always 2 groups that leave from the Engen, the slower groups generally leaves around 4:50, faster group around 4:55. Rock up, say hi and ask which group is leaving. I suggest starting in the B group. Always a good ride and everyone is generally friendly and will help.
  6. I got a thin black beanie which I bought off a hunting apparel website. Works like a charm!
  7. Were you part of the group that got passed by the VB? A little bit of negative riding, but all in all, a lekker race to kick start the season!
  8. Trav you doing it this year?! Going for the win!?
  9. Wow, reading all these stories stirs that deep rumbling in my tummy, both of happiness and pain. My day went well, not too sure if I swam more than I should have, but my Garmin said I swam 4.5kms, came out the water 1;06, which I was happy with considering the swells and the choppiness of the water. On the bike felt good, until the last 45kms, toes went hellishly sore, so tried all things to get the pain away, likely still managed a 5:37, so was happy with that. Was looking for a 4:15 run, but with cramps from the heat sneaking in, opted for a run/walk strategy. Finished the run in 4:28 (I did manage to take off 15mins off my time 2 years ago) Total time: 11:24 (which was 6mins under my target time) As mentioned above, the crowd was phenomenal, definitely the best form of legal doping!!
  10. Try these guys in Cape Town CBD http://www.bikesnwines.com/ They have road and mtn bikes available for rental. Bikes are also decent specs, so you won't be getting a cheapy.
  11. Superb to see some of the heavier riders having their say! I too am a buffalo, unfortunately at 1.96m I am limited to the amount of weight I can lose, sitting at a comfortable 95kgs. I do however enjoy the hills and find it even better when I am able to show some of the skinnies up some of the hills, only if they arent too long! Keep it up gents and ladies (if there are any )
  12. Random questions: would I finish Comrades on Ironman training?
  13. Tree are also not a good option, many skiers have lost their lives or sustained serious injury hitting trees. I cringe looking at the video. Hopefully he has a speedy recovery

    The Jock 2015

I got an entry going up for grabs, if that's still possible. Have to make a trip to CT for family commitments. PM and will see if we can sort something out.

    Auction?

    More details please? Size?
  17. Must be the same guy I saw, cos I was in 1C and did a 1:10. I had to put in a full sprint at the end just so I beat him. He must be a machine! Averaging 40kms is no mean feat especially on a mtn bike. Super kudos to that oke
  18. Will the top guys be racing or are we just going to go out and have a ride for CT and it's people? Would like to get a feeling from the guys riding VA, 1A and the like.
  19. What time were the prizes for 65km? What were the prizes? Stayed there from 12 and didnt hear anything about prizes.........
  20. How come the 65km did not have a medal ceremony or prize money? You guys did last year, why not this year?
  21. Have they released the email about 2nd lap? I'm keen to do 2nd laps as going to be my last one for awhile
  22. There is surely a growing demand for cycling on tv! It is sad to say, but will be another poorly attended event (I hope not) and we can't even watch it on tv if we can't make it to the event.
