  1. I am keen, also know a couple mates of mine who would be keen. Please let me know costs. Thanks
  2. I have the Garmin 310XT. I absolutely love my watch, I have done multiple triathlons (including 1 Ironman, 5 half Ironman distances), cycling races and running races. The swimming function is a little shady and far exceeds the distance I have swam but the other features like if u want to incl/excl transitions in your timing you can. A great watch with loads of features!
  3. Why would you want to do it on a DS? There is a reason they make it for road bikes only, its FARKING tough and a very long way. Please don't waste your time and everyone else's..........
  4. Interesting article! I first thought it was going to say something about thieves knowing where u live and flowing your weekly riding trends and waiting for you and your bike. Using strava you can find a whole host of important info: cycling routine, type of bike, how many people you cycle with. We must be careful what we put on open forums

    TriRock Durban

I just dropped Grant (TriRock organizer) who said the TSA was a "cockup" and would be rectified. So as the website says, the race is still on 5 October!
  6. Where is the best place to stay? Or am I too late and all the good places gone? Looked on the website for accommodation but none of them very helpful as don't give distance to start.
  7. Gees do you really think you need to do more training? Surely after all the training for IM and IM your body should be well trained! Sounds like you should be resting and not training. Better to go into ITU rested than tired
  8. What is everyone take on recovery? I went for my first bit of exercise after IM this morning, a leisurely cycle with mates on their morning ride. Legs felt good but any sort of acceleration made them felt heavy and tight. After this morning, I don't think I'll be running for at least another week. Oh that 3rd discipline is a non event for me and wont be back in the pool until at least July when training for 5150 starts again.
  9. Wow, reading thru these testimonials gives me goosebumps and I'm almost a little emotional. The memories of sunday kept flooding back while reading everyone's account of the race from the 15hr finisher to the racing snake sub 10hr finisher. Was healthy and wealthy enough to be able to compete this event in a reasonable 12h13. Will have to slay my dragons and be back to break that 12hr mark! Well done to all the Ironman and ladies who took part and finished on sunday. It is a fantastic achievement! Enjoy the rest and recovery
  10. Ok all this talk is making me VERY nervous! Does anyone know the sms number for family and friends to follow me while I'm out on course?
  11. Hahaha I'm in the same boat as you! Someone told me, its about the quality not the quantity!
  12. Gees your Saturday looks like a walk in the park! Should take no less than at least 8hrs! Overtraining much?? Enjoy that session!
  13. Yip I'm doing it! Gonna do about 140kms on the day in the saddle then muster up and do a 12/15km run afterwards. Will be a good day out I think. Touch wood I stay away from any crashes
  14. Excellent stuff there JGR! Nothing quite like finishing your ride off with a couple beastly hills to keep the legs in check! Did a 5hr + ride on the weekend, took 3 hot cross buns, loads of butter and peanut butter. Was delicious and I didn't feel poked afterwards. Also had a gel and a banana. I did make sure that I ate consistently throughout the ride, which I think is quite important!
  15. Wow you only drinking 3 bottles on a 5hr ride! Are you sure that is enough? Did a 5hr ride on the weekend and drank at least 5 or 6 bottles! Remember its a lot easier to hydrate on the bike than on the run! Also maybe consider eating more on the bike cos eating on the run is hard and you don't wanna "run out of juice" on the run. Just a thought
  16. Looking at for a new ROAD bike. Heard that Cannondale frames have a good "tall" geometry
  17. So I am in the market for a new bike. I am wondering what is the best frame for a tall person. I am 1.96m (or 6' 5in for the older generation). Is there better frames for tall people?
  18. My best is when people log there gym work! Seriously is that necessary!!
  19. I did the race yesterday! Swim was good, just k*k swimming back with the sun in your eyes, I couldn't really see the boys so just swam towards the sun and hoped for the best. I got a reading of 88.9kms for the ride! Was nice and flat but the way 2nd lap was a little tougher as 1st as the wind picked up. The run was great through the suburbs and flattish, also finished with a 19.8km reading on my garmin. Thanks for a well organized event! Legs are feeling it today but happy with the event overall!! @Faceplant - you seem to be involved in the event. If TSA withdrew from Prestige event, why do we pay for the TSA Temporary license? Should we not get our R100 back as this is an amount paid to TSA? I would like to hear your response on this matter

    Argus 2014

If you are staying in Kenilworth, its not a bad ride thru to the start in the morning. Its about 10kms or so and nice warm up. Only thing to worry about is you won't be riding with lights and there is obviously the puncturing issue.
  21. I'll be trundling around the Cradle, so looking forward to seeing the groups whizz past
  22. Also another thing to note, is that there were not XSmall T-shirts. My poor GF was so disappointed when she was told they only had ordered 1 box of XSmall T-shirts, let alone have female fit T-shirts. She can definitely not wear her Small as it looks like a dress. You would think that at a performance event, where people are generally slimmer than the average Joe, they would accommodate for this!?
  23. I am definitely taking this week off before getting stuck into full IM training! I might do a chilled swim to loosen the muscles tomorrow and I'm even having a big night on Friday to get all the partying out before no drinking for 2 and a half months! Enjoy the break! Let your body recover fully before you start training again!
  24. The Scott Foil is a beaut of a bike! But again, too small for me! Need at least a 60/61cm frame
