  1. It will be interesting to hear from the other hubbers who rode at this meeting.
  2. Agreed, but everyone knows up front that the action is not real and that the outcome is predetermined. The wrestlers are individuals and they are chasing dollars. They don't pretend that they are doing it for the honour of their country. If the race was paid for I don't know how the individuals can wear their National colours and expect our chests to swell up with pride. Maybe we should have different categories of National colours. Genuine talent Favours done Know somebody Have enough money My R8500's worth.
  3. BG swears at her time pedals. I swear by mine. Six years, no mechanical problems, no sore knees,no dents or cuts from sharp edges and no servicing.
  4. Thanks. I will try it tonight.
  5. My friend did the Argus and recorded it on her polar HR monitor. However she started recording before her group started. How do I delete this data?
  6. My Aunty rode with us yesterday and said afterwards that Bored Girl is a "fiesty one". Sounds like an unbroken horse. BG was not interested in having her new wounds attended to on the trail. I thought she was being a tough chick. However, when we arrived at the Mugg and Bean, her 1st priority was to getting visual evidence then clean off the blood.
  7. Well, there are some sick Hubbers. I showed the guys this dropoff on Sunday. Eventually we had to force them to carry on with the ride as everyone was going down then circling back to do it again "one more time". Luckily there were no actual falls but there were some close calls.
  8. My Sabie X partner may also join us.
  9. Above polar file refers. Profile for Sunday's spruit ride. (starting and finishing on Northcliff Hill- East side
  10. Does this have the same comforting sensation as pissing in your wetsuit before getting into the surf in winter?
  11. I got shown a wicked little rocky dropoff in Delta Park on Sunday. It is about 5m high and has a blind narrow approach, then you let go of the brakes and trust your bike. The angle of descent is about 70 degrees. Open eyes are an optional extra.
  12. My vote is Greymont shopping centre. I can see it from my place so I can't get lost.
  13. I rode from my place on Northcliff through Alberts Farm, Emmerentia Dam, Delta and Spruit to Paulshof Mugg and Bean and back on Saturday. Distance was about 46kms. Time was about 4,5hrs which included stops for breakfast, visit to Fritz Pienaar shop and chap stops with riders we met along the way(meet Thug on William Nicol side of spruit.) There is a Spar and a Wimpy in a shopping centre in Bosmont that we could start at. The directions are exactly as MichH gave except the distance once you have turned at Northcliff corner is about 4kms and not 10kms. The start of Alberts Farm is about 100m from there.
  14. Ascent. Elapsed time HR
  15. Point of post was that some cyclists give themselves even less chance than normal by having no lights. I can see cyclists going up the road 1 km from my house if they have the red flashing lights at the back of their bike. Normally ride in Northcliff , Parkview, etc. Thought that a change was good for my soul and being that early there would be less/(no) traffic. Also thought it would have less climbing as my legs are sore from my first gym session in four months. As it turned out we climbed as much as we normally do for a hill session.
  16. Why do some cyclists think that the sun rises out of where they sit? This morning, at 5am, a cyclist with no lights or reflectors was came past me on Hendrick Potgieter. Although I knew that he was in front of me I could not see him at all. How are cars suppose to avoid him? I am riding with two flashing white lights in front and two red ones behind and I still feel vunerable.
  17. The previous post on Hill st repeats refers. I live near the top of Northcliff hill and I was curious as to the altitude gain from Hill St back home as it always feels like a drag. The profile above shows why. I seem to train hill clinbibg just to prevent the embaressment of having no legs on my way home. If we go home via Fredicks and Rockcliff then we end up climbing 600m.
  18. Dumb Question. How do I upload my garmin software onto my new laptop that does not have a serial port? I went and bought a serial to usb converter but the install software still does not recognise this.
