Yes I understand the rocks, as much as I hate them that is the terrain there and I must learn to ride them. The only sections that I thought were a bit run down was the single track after you come down Tannie Miems and then the river trail, other than that they were great. first time on Mini Oom Piets which was pretty cool

Went for a ride there yesterday. The trails are awesome and fun, a few too many rocks for my liking but the trails are in serious need of some TLC, Looks like hardly anyone has been riding there. The single track in the trees was overgrown, so many leaves i could hardly see the path and debris all over. Im only saying this because if you are paying to ride trails you would expect them to be maintained.

I hear and see a lot of roadies complaining about drivers on the roads, not obeying the laws, no 1.5m passing of cyclists and walkers, etc So this morning, at about 6:20 on Cedar rd, on my way to Van Gaalens I had some roadies pass me on the way to the road race out there, at about 6:30 on Cedar rd First a bakkie, with 1 bike in the back, flew past me so fast I couldn't even try read his plate. Then a Range Rover, 3 or 4 bikes on the back, I could see he was in a rush (probably) late for his start driving like a lunatic through the traffic behind me, then at a red light he pulls up and the left of me in a LEFT ONLY lane (just like a taxi) and jumps ahead of me when the light goes green. I hooted and showed him a 'polite' hand gesture which he returned but I could not make them out because he had already raced off 80m down the road. He then passes a bunch of cyclists riding Single file (very impressed) by less than 0.5m. Don't expect people to drive nicely for you and then you drive like a tjop. Lead by example.

VG sounds good, I haven't ridden at Thaba yet but that might work as a 2nd option.

After all the talk about it I though I should post a pic of the 38T, not that you can see much of it. I don't see what the fuss is, if you cant ride up something in 38-36 then its not worth riding. personally I hate spinning, I would rather push a harder gear. and to add, its the only part I have got locally that I can't get from overseas, no one stocks the 38T

you had better hope "2Nutz" doesn't see this post but yes I agree, the Makulu and Kalula have the same problem with the positioning of the "mud guard".

Ride faster and the mud/ rubbish will fly off the tyre before it gets that far

Pity you cant see the ground here, i'm like 4m in the air 1st practice run - washed out on a rock, hit the ground before I could blink. 2nd practice run - washed out on the switchbacks, SuperM got to laugh at me rolling into a thorn bush. 3rd practice run - made sure Davi got to the bottom of the hill in kind of 1 piece. Race run - 3 dabs but I think a tortoise could have beaten me
