  1. Had a similar experience while riding alone through the cradle on my way back from a long Magaliesburg ride 2 years ago, lay a charge if you know the driver. Another thing... When is the counsel going to paint the bicycle lanes on the road???? There are already potholes and very uneven sections forming on the route close to the Rhino Lion Park.
  2. Got my first mountain bike from him, what a shock to hear he's gone... RIP
  3. The local government has spent millions on cycling lanes in the Muldersdrift/Cradle area so we can enjoy our ride without worrying about becoming road kill and giving everyone a safe environment to travel. (Hopefully the older lanes will get resurfaced or no one will use them.) Let's make a concious effort to use these lanes, traffic will keep getting worse as the sport grows and the area gets developed. They have already built another circle, so let's sort this our now before there's a fatality.
  4. Done 7, so happy I snapped my derailer cable over the weekend. Should have a hassle free race on Sunday with new cables. Good luck everyone.
  5. I would never have made the jump from A group to elite if it wasn't for riding with Andrew and the vets team. Crazy watching him time trial.
  6. Arran Brown from Cyclefit did a great job setting up my new bike. He talks you through the whole setup in a professional manner.
  7. Watched Steven Austin's Seven deadly strikes show last night. Love snakes. I will never forget this one time when I rode past a sun bathing snake and it shot off like a rocket, I sh@t myself. Heart rate went through the roof, he he he.
  8. I'm a mountain goat
  9. Second Ride 2nd Ride
  10. Carol Austin from Activeworx has really helped me over last few months, see it based in the Woodmead area if you live in Joburg.
  11. The question is why has the problem gotten so bad over the last 2 years or so? It's almost impossible in enforce rules unless the riders are part of a club ride where you can take a complaint further. I wished all bike mags and tv shows could do a joint campaign to promote safe cycling. Too many newbies are taking chances on the roads. If another fun rider goes through a red robot again this weekend I'm gonna scream!
  12. Used to brake spokes all the time when I did sprints on my training wheels. The only way I solved the problem was to get the wheel rebuilt with stronger spokes and had then double butted. No problems since. (done close to 60 000 km's over a few years on this set of wheels)
  13. Let's hope the kit doesn't get stolen at OR Tambo on their return, No South Afican will never to able to race overseas again I highly doubt Anatomic will not supply our riders with new kit... It's their brand being promoted to an international audience. They would want to showcase how good their products are right?
  14. Sounds like my Dad, 2 rounds of treatment were needed to kill his growths. Hope you get some good news from the doc.
  15. Can't they get the Outsurance traffic bikes to marshal the race? There are plenty of them riding around Joburg... Glad we're getting a refund, going to be interesting to see how many people do the race again if it happens next year.
  16. Been training specifically for the climb up past the Union Buildings I'm miffed, I had to miss the last 2 races I've entered and now this... At least it's good training for the Zoo Lake crit next week.
  17. Eina man! Confession... Had to laugh at the superman pic
  18. Here's the Dome Crit Course courtesy of Google maps and Photoshop:
  19. Glad to hear nobody got badly injured. Long break till the next big race so... let's see what happens.
  20. I agree with splat, you can also use a piece of string and run it in the centre of the tyre.
  21. Could be interesting to see how good the road surface is with all the stadium construction vehicles moving around that area. AuctionLamb - I used to do work for Maponya Mall and know that the mall security is good.
  22. Rather get a professional to setup your bike. Contact Arran Brown from Cyclefit if you live in Gauteng. Very impressed with my setup.
  23. That bike seems lighter than air. The Tour must have gone to his head.
  24. It's the weekend, just enjoy the TDF and appreciate what these riders have put their bodies through. They all look skinny and ill after 3 weeks of racing. Innocent till proven guilty. If someone gets caught doping, they should get a lifetime ban, enough said.
