  1. People in the Netherlands are told to open the car door with the inside hand so they are forced to reach over and look over the shoulder at the same time to look for on-coming traffic. They implement this rule in SA as well! I was nearly taken out in SA on Beach Rd when a woman opened her door suddenly. When I swerved to avoid collision she just laughed at me. I was tempted to stop and give a PK but I was raised better than that so she was just as lucky as I was.
  2. I'll take the bike! At least it will be awesome to ride 30 years from now.
  3. I miss that view!
  4. Rondehoop - North Holland A welcoming 10ºC with a little breeze and light showers. I love cycling here but damn do I miss mountains!!!
  5. Getting wet while cycling has become the new norm, for me! I little snippet of what its like to bike in Amsterdam. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0tX30A1rzLc
  6. Cycled my wife to the Station this morning with her sitting on the bike rack It does make cycling up little bridges a little hard with the added weight on my SS. One thing I learned from transporting my wife on the back it to pump the back tyre up a little and then release the air when I get back home. Having a hard wheel when the roads are wet is asking for kakkas!
  7. Don't ride. I fractured my wrist and elbow from low-speed scorpion and was out for four weeks. I tried riding after two weeks and pulled a face one does when constipated. It just wasn't fun, and I didn't want to risk falling on it during the healing process. To stay in shape, I ran and rode the wattbike at the gym.
  8. For the Cape Town Crowd. Who remembers: Corner House in Gardens Purple Turtle in Town Buckley's in Table View
  9. Childhood memories.
  10. I'LL TAKE IT!!!
  11. Use glue from match kit for deep gashes.
  12. I revert my comment about hipsters, as they do make up 50% of my inner circle. I wish everybody success on the day, and may y'all keep it rubber side down!
  13. I miss my bully, he was such a gentle soul. If I get another I will call him Cotic!
  14. Hipsters don't have what it takes for this event!
  15. Wow wow wow, how about a pair of these for a vintage bike! https://quocpham.com/products/fixed-black
  16. You could rock up to l'Eroica in style.
  17. Want to pick up a honey? Try this.
  18. Honest to god I nearly died of anxiety this morning as I realised my deadline suddenly looked unreasonable. So I made a cup of tea and got to work. If I fail, I figured a massive black hole wouldn't open up underneath me. A wise man once said, "meh!".
  19. Everybody wants a gravel bike; everybody already has one!
  20. My core, no, the bike, yes! My comfort on the steel commuter comes from riding it everywhere every day! Thank, TITS!
  21. When you share a bike lane with scooters and tourists that step onto the path without looking, then you will quickly see that cycling here requires fast reactions. It does help that I am 6.4 and sit upright on a 60cm frame. I have learnt to scout ahead a look for trouble. Taking my hands out only when I come to a stop as I have not yet learnt to track stand. Riding no hands in sand on MTB back in South Africa has taught me a bit about balance and falling
  22. Forgot gloves this morning so had to ride with both hands in my jacket pockets to prevent frostbite. The best thing is that backpedal breaking does not need hands for slowing down.
