  1. Guys, What are we going to do without this thread when Admin cancels it? It's going to be tragic but perhaps we can all stay in touch via a forum like Wilddogs. Any suggestions?.
  2. Ai, sorry to hear of the teething problems and I hope they're sorted quickly and simply. And for free. Other than that, welcome to the world of biking. It seems there's aways a reason to tinker. Make sure you get on good terms with your mechanics.

WrightJnr, I had a good laugh when viewing Wildogs last week and saw a WrightJnr having a good go at somebody although I can't remember what it was about - I think it may have been the Itchy Boots thread. Was that you? If so, I agree wholeheartedly and am dismayed but the type of opinions and values displayed by many of the comments there.
  4. In the UK, they put in steel Poles which narrow the road at various points. It takes a brave person to speed through them because they are very sturdy. One car at a time so one has to give way to oncoming traffic too which also slows traffic down. A bit irritating for drivers but also very effective. Perhaps a solution for your street?
  5. As an aside, I note the disussion around removing threads non-bike related. One of the things I love about this thread is the spirit in which things are conducted here. Views may differ and opinions vary but the common thing is the enthusiasm we all have for motorbikes and I for one have learned things from others here. I don't remember one acrimonious exchange. Long may it continue.
  6. Ja I can see how it can be. I find his approach different and used to enjoy it but have to admit I find it less so now.
  7. Yes, the torque and power to weight ratio of a bike is what hits the happy button. It's possibly the biggest kick, especially when pulling away from lights and getting away from traffic.
  8. A ride up Franschoek pass is just what you need. In my opinion it's the best in WC at least. As for the ears, I think it will take time for the helmet to settle around them. Also, putting a helmet on is an art. Here's Chaos causes in a humorous take on it. A tip from me. Wear ear plugs. I find them essential and if you don't, you run the risk of tinnitus or worse. I have the cone shaped squishy ones from Dischem and they are the best for me.
  9. Well there you go. That's eaxctly the right answer and attitude. I've never approached that and don't feel for a minute that I've missed out. Planned your first ride yet?
  10. Sorry Hairy, but it was funny. Well, to me, anyway.
  11. Whooooa, lock up your daughters. Congrats Hairy, I wish you many happy wind-filled kms.
  12. There are a couple of guys on the Wilddogs site who are brokers. Perhaps try them? I think they will be competitive for fellow Wild Dawgs.
  13. Haha. I look forward to seeing you on the road somewhere. Riding, that is, not broken down.. Yes, I noted the offer you were getting on your kit and that's great but there's always something else you need. A cargo net, new tyres, or maybe just some spanners. And for you, a bandana.
  14. Good luck Hairy. Just an extra suggestion. For any other kit you need, take a look at Trac Mac Paarden Eiland. Great staff and good range and prices. Even if you don't buy, it's a good idea just to walk around, have a browse and make yourself known to them.

True. But perhaps too much so.

What's really interesting is how terrified (or is it just over-cautious) Binder seems to be of rain. At the first signs of raindrops, his times plummet.
  17. Great. I remember how good it feels to be proud of your Dad.

How many wet races have there been since then? Not many I don't think. Personally I hope for no rain but it sure throws the cat amongst the pigeons.

    Isn't Jackass the rain specialist?
  20. I think it is true to a certain extent. I even had a woman pull up next to me in a Porsche, open the passenger window, and say to me "Nice bike". Talk about a rush. Haha.
  21. Hairy, I noticed you among Itchy's comments last night. I find the comments very interesting, especially those which say they have seen SA in a new light. Good stuff. By the way, I rode the pass she rode down into Heidelberg in the episode before this. Really beautiful and worth a trip. Gysmanshoek.
  22. Hairy, like I said, I clearly don't get it. I thought you would drool over it. Steven: I kow how your wife feels. I was in a pub in London - 20 years ago -watching the Bokke and a guy stepped back onto my foot. "'Skuus Oom". Man, it upset me. Haha.

Time to invent a seat belt for MotoGP to take the weight off the wrists?

Apparently it was the dreaded "arm pump". Had to look it up...https://www.dirtbikeplanet.com/arm-pump/
