  1. Sorry Hairy, but it was funny. Well, to me, anyway.
  2. Whooooa, lock up your daughters. Congrats Hairy, I wish you many happy wind-filled kms.
  3. There are a couple of guys on the Wilddogs site who are brokers. Perhaps try them? I think they will be competitive for fellow Wild Dawgs.
  4. Haha. I look forward to seeing you on the road somewhere. Riding, that is, not broken down.. Yes, I noted the offer you were getting on your kit and that's great but there's always something else you need. A cargo net, new tyres, or maybe just some spanners. And for you, a bandana.
  5. Good luck Hairy. Just an extra suggestion. For any other kit you need, take a look at Trac Mac Paarden Eiland. Great staff and good range and prices. Even if you don't buy, it's a good idea just to walk around, have a browse and make yourself known to them.

True. But perhaps too much so.

What's really interesting is how terrified (or is it just over-cautious) Binder seems to be of rain. At the first signs of raindrops, his times plummet.
  8. Great. I remember how good it feels to be proud of your Dad.

How many wet races have there been since then? Not many I don't think. Personally I hope for no rain but it sure throws the cat amongst the pigeons.

    Isn't Jackass the rain specialist?
  11. I think it is true to a certain extent. I even had a woman pull up next to me in a Porsche, open the passenger window, and say to me "Nice bike". Talk about a rush. Haha.
  12. Hairy, I noticed you among Itchy's comments last night. I find the comments very interesting, especially those which say they have seen SA in a new light. Good stuff. By the way, I rode the pass she rode down into Heidelberg in the episode before this. Really beautiful and worth a trip. Gysmanshoek.
  13. Hairy, like I said, I clearly don't get it. I thought you would drool over it. Steven: I kow how your wife feels. I was in a pub in London - 20 years ago -watching the Bokke and a guy stepped back onto my foot. "'Skuus Oom". Man, it upset me. Haha.

Time to invent a seat belt for MotoGP to take the weight off the wrists?

Apparently it was the dreaded "arm pump". Had to look it up...https://www.dirtbikeplanet.com/arm-pump/

OK. I understand of course - I said so - that you have some time for a last-minute test and all good with that. But every rider goes out every time for Warmup and surely not all of them are testing something perviously untested? If you're not testing something, it's a risk so close to race time. Look, obviously they know more than me but I just don't get it.

I don't understand the point of Warmup on the morning of race day. Perhaps a last-minute adjustment but frankly if you're not ready at that stage, it's too late excpet for a lst-minute tyre change or fine tuning somewhere. And even that is a punt because track temperature and conditions are different to those at race time. With the guys pushing it quite hard and some falling, surely the risk of injuring yourself or breaking the bike is not worth it. Pol, Nakagami, Lecuona and Marc Marquez all fell during Warmup. Luckily for them they all made the race but it could have been different. Comments?
  19. Thought you'd like it but didn't want to press you.

  21. Haha, clearly I don't get it (I have an Anthem). But good luck with your bike and make sure you enjoy it. That's what it's all about after all.
  22. Hairy, Not a HD but...... http://www.wilddog.za.net/forum/index.php?topic=257954.0
  23. "Fortunately I would not have to rely on the HD as my primary form of transport." I just wanted to be clear on this. I didn't mean having a HD as a primary form of transport. I meant having it as your only bike and primary form of 2 wheeled transport. Take your point about having bicycles which made no sense but gave you joy. I suppose motorcycling doesn't make sense in many respects but is for a sure a source of joy and the secret is to find it for yourself. When's the first ride?
  24. Hmm. Things change. OK, we won't be doing a daily commute but what about dropping off to the supermarket to buy stuff or riding to Paternoster or Riebeeck Kasteel for breakfast? I think one's usages change as one gets used to the bike. I'm not trying to put you off buying a HD, merely highlighting differences. Any chance you could borrow or rent one for a weekend test? Give you a feel for it.
  25. Hairy, I am going to provide an opinion here which may not be popular with some of our fellow members: In my opinion a HD is like a Fat Bike – great fun and, like many HD owners here have said, it puts a smile on your face. But not many have a Fat bike as their only bike and it maybe an extra toy to use but not something on which you would rely for transport and not appropriate for most cycling scenarios. I suspect the same is true of many Harleys with the owners having them for giggles but another bike as the main form of regular transport. Perhaps the HD owners here can chip in but I can’t imagine using it for longer trips or a weekend ride to Hermanus or similar on a regular basis. Of course this all depends on your intended use and frequency with which you plan to use the bike. Thoughts, anybody?
