  1. Hi Christiaan, Nice to hear from you. Just before you do it, how much do you think it will be? It may be too expensive for you to do and also needs to be flexible so I don't know if your plastic will be suitable. My apologies - I should have been clearer when mentioning it.
  2. OK, let's see. I want to copy this as far as possible: https://www.proshotcam.com/ And have found a copy, also on the portal Steven Knoetze mentioned: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1734401 Let's see if he could do it and how much it would cost. It may work out too expensive.
  3. Hairy, Do you think it would be possible for me to jump on this bandwagon and ask your mate to print me a GoPro chin mount? For a fee of course.
  4. I was just reading the thread about threads being closed down and all the views expressed there and got to thinking about this thread. Weirdly, for bikers, it's a haven of peace and tranquility and a great source of photos and info. Do we leave all our aggressions out on the road? .
  5. Can't you 3D print straight to Aluminium? Or does it have to be titanium?
  6. Lovely photos which to me represent a lifestyle into which I want to submege myself. With regrd to plugs: I have Nakaee 3s on my bike and had a mushroom plug put into my rear tyre well over a year ago. No problems. I think they are fine under all conditions. It's the gluey worm plugs you use on the road which give me a bit of concern althugh may people vouch for them having put them in and never had any problems with them. Even Ryan fortnine did a video on them. I am about to replace my Anakee 3s and think I am about to go with Anakee adventures. I don't ride gravel as much as you do so at 80/20 they seem to be the best fit and come highly recommended. Those Motoz Tractionators are very highly regarded but seem a bit over the top for your use or do you do more gnarly stuff? One of my mates swears by Mitas E07s and, if you can get them, Shinkos also get good ratings. Whatever the tyres, it seems like you're doing just fine and are ejoying life - just as it should be.
  7. Ja, that's the problem with bikes and bike gear. Always n+1. Here's a look at more photos http://www.wilddog.za.net/forum/index.php?topic=261737.0
  8. Anybody? You all know who I'm looking at here..
  9. Me too. I must make a plant to get up to that area.
  10. Thanks. your setup does loook comfortable but I have another question and some observations: Having looked at the setup of the ATG bags I note they have straps which extend over the seat. Is that not a hassle and will it not damage the seat? Can they attach directly to pannier racks? I have decided not to ride dirt with my top box. Not only does it place the weight high as you said but also I fear for the mountings on bumpy gravel roads especially those with corrugations. Have you seen this guy called Pete? based in George and close to you. I am thinking of buying one of his tailpacks which look very practical and will suit your requirements. Also can take luggage on top so very practical. And it's local of course with a good price. He will customise if required. https://nomadbikebags.co.za/products/ He has many recommendations on Wilddogs and I don't think his website does him justice. Just thought...
  11. Spokey, What pannier bags do you have?
  12. You're in good company. Itchy rode up there a while ago.
  13. Hairy, just for you. Yosemite is the most beautiful place I've ever been. On a bike it must be mind blowing
  14. Yoh. Dakar awaits..
  15. Interesting point. My old 360 Yammie 2 stroke also had it up and out of the way. Wonder why that has changed?
  16. I think the noise was general but the wind was the chief offender. On a trip back from Darling once, into the wind, it got so bad I had to stop to change from the NoNoises back tothe dischem specials. Much better for me. I have an aftermarket bashplate which reflects a lot of noise back up to me and I find even road noise reflecting up - I think it comes via the inside of the screen. So in general a lot of noise but for sure the wind is the worst, incessant as it is. Andrew, take note of the wise words from Ice Cream. Years of loud music and shooting in the army without ear plugs have given me tinnitus and it's not pleasant. Wearing ear plugs is a small inconvenience in order to avoid that.
  17. Hairy, I've not been on this thread for a bit but noticed the bit about your earplugs. Perhaps it boils down to the shape of one's ear but I have those no-noise plaugs and find they don't cut out noise for me. It could also be due to my helmet - it has cut outs on the ears for microphones and perhaps that makes it noisier. As I said here long ago I find the foamies from Dischem to be the best. And unbeatable for the price. Glad, though, that the no noise work for you. As for any others looking for earplugs, have you tried here: https://www.pienaarbros.co.za/category/hearing-protection/reusable-earplugs/ I tried them and none worked for me but at the price I think it's worth trying them just to check..
  18. Andrew, small world. 2pm yesterday...
  19. Haha Hairy, look at you . Getting all competitive and defensive too. First month on the bike and already doing drags...What next? Wheelies? Just be careful. She's an old girl and it costs to fix dropped valves.. But it's damned difficult to resist, I know.
  20. Wannabe and Stretched, I hope you can work something out. How cool would that be? Good luck.
  21. Haha, are you surprised? That wind must have been something - it's blown somebody's hair right off!
  22. Wannabe. Dammit, but in this economy being self-employed, despite being a risk, is the best way to go with the ability to change models etc. So sorry to hear of the current problems but let's hope we are able to help each other somehow. Hairy: ahem, yes.
  23. Ah yes I know it. Next to where my favourite Friday after work bar used to be . And I can't even remember its name. Haha. Edit: I remember it now: Wakame.
  24. Thanks Boet. Curved balls and all that. That ride of yours sounds very lucky. Riding in rain, though sometimes fun, is mostly not. Is that Sotano? I used to hang out there a lot but of course not much of late. It's a great location although the sewage smell is too much if the wind is wrong. Great photo.
