  1. You gonna by a second hand bike hoping its the right fit for you, and then take on a century ride without a proper setup. Whereas you mtb is properly setup for you and will give a much more enjoyable ride. If you want to buy a road bike for a single race, I would advice bugdeting for a proper setup as well. Then, you will enjoy the ride more. ( you still have to get use to the bike though - handling, shifting etc). It takes time
  2. Put slicks on your mountain bike and ride. Its cheaper, and you'll probably enjoy it more.
  3. I didnt make it over hels. A recurring ltb injury took me out. I wasnt gonna chance it and miss the argus. Coming back up hels with my car (enjoying the aircon), it was good to see so many youngsters riding, especially the development riders. Cuddos to guys doing great work. I performed pickup duties later after the race was canned. I felt sorry for the guys who came so far only to hear, 'sorry race is cancelled.' If the guys werent bonked at that stage, the news probably took the last puffs of wind out of their sails. Congrats to all finishers. It was a tough one...
  4. Got me a nice pair of Specialized road shoes from a fellow hubber! Good bargain.
  5. Too soon to tell... Lets hope he's not a shooting star. He does have massive potential. But we'll have to wait 2 or 3 seasons before we can start throwing such acolades... Imo
  6. I wondered how long doctor love spell would last. If the mods didnt shut him, he would have probably did it himself to stop the torture. The Hub has no mercy for stupid.... Edit: spelling...

  9. Man i cracked myself up from the comments! Good show guys! Hahaha. The lycra and second pair under or over might be a good option. The crack in the theory is it will get hot though.... But its usable.

I spent my Saturday enjoying the Argus route. I guess, I made the better choice. i would have definitely seen my ass on that gravel. I can't even stay on my mtb when it comes to gravel....

  17. Hey guys, I got a new red Nalini bib from my father in law. A team Cofidis replica nogals. Fits awesome..... but my crack shows quite clearly. I refuse to ride with me parts not covered up properly. Is there any method, material, options available to 'thicken' the layers without compromising the ride? It might be the Darwin awards question of the year, but maybe someone knows....
  18. Saw this chap at the Brackenfell bvl and Proteaweg intersection. (I was standing still at the robot when i took the pic ). Then this darwinian sped off over the red robot nogals. The temptation was strong to run him down with the car and then teach him a lesson..... Edit: (Sorry about the rotation of the pic. Damn ipad)
  19. He actually seems like a normal everyday bloke. I respect him for doing this though. Takes some big stones.

  21. Specialized apologized to the bike shop. I watched the video this morning. I cant find it but will posted when I do. According to Specialized it was one of their contracted trademark laywers who saw the wheels and filed the suit. The CEO did accept full responsibility though.
  22. As a noob, my medals means alot. Every medal symbolizes a milestone reached. Its quite something to have only started cycling in March this year and have an Engen and a Burger medal on my shelf. It does have significance, made not in 5years anymore but for now yes.
  23. MAybe I'll moan after my fifth Burger as well...
