  4. Whoop Whoop. What an awesome day out. Brilliant. Well layer out course. Marshals everywhere. People cheering. Happiness!! First class event.
  5. Nice. Those brakes will be going on my Scott Scale a.s.a.p.
  6. I've ordered from them four times in the past two years. Never had an issue. Good price. Delivered on time. Happiness.
  7. That is why I said "within a threshold" 220 minus your age with a % acceptable variance up or down. Spikes are easy to pick up. So are faulty HR straps that flatline at 220 all day. Discovery have the data. Something tells me they don't know how to best use it yet though. Analysing BigData is not easy. But don't punish me while you figure it out. Trust me, if they held the system as it was, where do you think the pressure should have been to resolve? Too easy now for corporates to put the pressure on the CUSTOMER.
  8. How hard would it be for Discovery to personalise your max HR based on the data they already have? A simple formula that looks at the past six months activities and taking the max HR recorded? Within a threshold or the 220 minus your age gets used. My age max is 180, and I recorded 188 at the USN Trailseeker a few weekends back. People on this thread who keep on telling us to stop complaining are looking at it wrong. Perhaps have the view that Discovery have clearly found a gem here which seriously attracts attention and people WANT to participate. Our "feedback" can be viewed as valuable or as complaining. I'll let you decide which one will lead to long term business success with the Vitality product and Discovery.
  9. @lerouc, I believe the way discovery positioned the watch for example covers them. It was a "buy the watch interest free" and if you hit goals we discount.
  10. Hi Myles, your arguments are always valid and backed by good data and I have never challenged you on that. For me, here is the issue which you touch on your last post at the end. Reaching Gold Status. In the past, I don't think many people cared about being on Gold, Discovery used Vitality Active Rewards to drive awareness and it worked. Suddenly everyone was talking about Vitality and all the great things it does when on Gold or Diamond. First a Smoothie, no big deal. People kept on hitting Goals and got comfortable thinking they knew the system. Then came the Watch, now people had skin in the game but based on the past many felt they could commit. Then, Discovery brokers were calling people and suddenly Life Policies etc which were linked to Vitality looked appealing. Now, people have invested years and years into the system. Clearly Discovery can and will move the goal posts as they choose fit and this IS the issue. When you have a life policy that has potential payouts in 15 years time, people are not happy with how easily things can change. For the record, yes my wife has an Apple Watch through the program but no I don't have any Vitality linked policies and yes I accepted the risk up front regarding payment for the watch. I do use Discovery programs extensively. They have done a great job in being relevant. I'm just not happy with the latest device and points changes. Yes, they will change. Great. Would prefer they take the pain though while they collect their behavior data.
  11. Who cares about smoothies and fruit watches? Some people out there have life policies which are linked to vitality status. There is a hell of a lot more than a few free drinks riding on this.
  12. Yeah. He uses a SRM PC8. Screw the dozens of Pro Teams that run their business on that platform. Discovery knows what's best for us.
  13. So 1 hour on the Wattbike with an ave HR of 137 (76% of max) netted me 100 points. Exactly the same as the lazy bastard who swiped through the gym door and sat on the couch drinking a smoothie this morning. #fail
  14. It's a confidence issue. I always ride with her and try coach her. Last weekend at RedBarn USN she had two falls so her progress took a knock. She will walk sections she can't ride, that's no issue. But on a short circuit that's not fun.
  15. Anyone know if there will be a chicken run off the school field into the Park? My wife is riding in a team and is very worried. That concrete section off the field can be sketchy and I don't recall another option.
  16. Think I read 50 per week. But before I know it jumped quicker than that.
  17. Fair enough but I think I'm pretty well trained and there is no way I could do that 2 or 3 times a week, every week. I've gone back and looked at my activity history and based on my ave duration and ave hr on rides I'm going to struggle. Even my short interval high intensity sessions fall part of a longer ride where my ave HR will not be above the 70% let alone 80% mark. Oh well, I'm not changing my routine I've used for years just to satisfy Discovery. All I'm saying is that they've missed the boat on the new metrics.
  18. I'm not sure how the points goal will go but yesterday's USN MTB Cup netted 600 points. And that was for a flat out effort over 02h15 with an ave HR of 163 (my age max is 180) 40yrs old. Garmin who Discovery seem to love suggests I do nothing for 3 days to recover. If I have to work this hard every week it will kill me, not improve me.
  19. Just love riding with my wife and our two boys..
  20. I start either Emmerentia Dam or Pick'nPay William Nicol (if I want brekkie after) and do a loop. I'm not a fan of starting in the middle as I hate going back past my starting point. But that's just me. Looping around Delta (5km) and Emmerentia (5km) do two laps if you like. Stay away from Delta on a Saturday between 8am and 9am as there are hundreds or Parkrunners.
  21. Don't agree. I'll take a "replica" supermodel over a "fake with an adamsapple" any day !!
