  1. Got this in a neighbourjood watch group, not verified but maybe this is your or a friend's bike. Apparently available at Woodstock Police station if you can prove ownership (brought in today I believe). This is the only photo I have and the only information I have. But if it's yours or you know who's it is. Go to woodstock polica station
  2. Printed upside down with supports, thinking that you'd rather have the bottom side that fits onto the shock be smoother and closer to dimension? Lemme know if I must turn is around instead? Will require a little finishing, but this is the result after pulling off the supports. PM and we can organize a pickup.
  3. I'm looking for an excuse to get the printer going again - will give this a go this evening. I'm in woodstock.
  4. @Prince could you dm me a photo? I'm taller and heavier, and might be interested in trying out a "gel pad" bib if you're looking to get rid of those that don't fit.
  5. Did this conversion to a frame this weekend. Considering opening a side-hustle for it (I've heard quite a few people want it - heresy or not, I'll give the people what they want). But I'm in CPT, so unless you want to send the frame back and forth I can't help.
  6. I got the scvcn for like r66 somehow, so it was very much worth it to try. wouldn't have paid r187.
  7. I have no self control and bought a bunch more stuff from temu. Mostly for the next 2 bikes I want to build. Hybrid brakes, red levers. Green and red bb, "photochromic" glasses. Cable housings, bb tool, brakes pads, fancy oil slick chain, Pedal straps. Everything looks pretty good quality. (Brake levers aren't as nicely finished as I would've liked, the rest is good though.)
  8. Hardest part is scanning/drawing the piece in CAD. If you've got that sorted I'll print them for you and you just need to pay for a pudo/whatever to get it to you. If not it becomes a little more tricky, could still help if you want to go to the mission/effort of sending the part to me, letting me draw and print, and then I send it back, but I would ask for a bit of compensation, money or bike parts, as that takes a little more time. There are quite a few shops/services nowadays that will do printing for you, and for a small part like that it should be cheap, maybe check and see if any of them have those fancy 3d scanners? (just google 3d printing service)
  9. Leaving us in suspense huh? I want to know more.
  10. I've made one or two sets of bars and keen to try making something like this - pop me a DM if you'd be interested in some "custom" bars.
  11. I'd love to see a photo of what actually arrived if you would be willing? Considered getting exactly this because it was a decent seeming deal. Please
  12. I've done this - "kinda" works if there's a lot of stuff you want to buy. You earn the vouchers with your first order, and then could use them on the second order. But they'll get you R200 off a R1000 order or something like that. Moral of the story with all the "wheel spinning" - it's not worth your time and there are no free lunches.
  13. So a little update - rode the cycle tour (slowly) on the bike. Pretty sure I won't ride it again because it was a painful 6 hours, and although good fun, it would've been less painful on just about any other bike I think. Anyways - so I started making another one, and now I'm done! and I'm here to share some photos. Lots of experimental design points. Lots of lessons learnt (specifically - let your paint dry properly, I didn't, and when fitting parts etc I ended up scratching lots of bits and marking the paint everywhere, but it's fine, it's only a rattle-can paint job, so no biggie, although the detailing cost me a fair amount of time. All the steel is still mild steel (except the handlebars are stainless), so still quite a heavy bike. Lots of help with little parts here and there from WCW. And a few parts from old bikes and even temu. I have also been making tools and learning processes for making better bikes, so things are progressing well (spending lots of time with Dave Mercer - don't know if he has a tag here but he's been amazing). Process wise - most of this was tig-brazed using silicon bronze, a niche process I've learnt, but something I quite like. Detailing with a posca paint market made for really bold/thick lines, much more effective than permanent markers etc. Open to any and all comments and thoughts Next bike is going to be a cargo bike I think - should be fun, lots of opportunity for executing wild ideas. A little more upright/shorter wheel base than I was initially envisioning (planned on an aggressively slack head tube) - but extremely happy with the result. You can see some of the detail work, and messed up paint above. Dangerously close chain clearance here - will 100% need a little protector of some sort if I want the paint to even think about sticking around. Seat-tube and seat-bridge details. Really enjoyed the styling, and it probably came out best in these photos of the stem/handlebar combo. (stem tube matched the down tube profile which I thought was a nice look). First go at the steam/bar combo. put a front-cap on to clean things up a bit. No paint, early stages of the frame. Before paint this honestly looked better.
  14. Clicked on your link to help you, but those free items are usually just "share with more friends to collect more coins to get the free stuff" which gets progressively harder as was the case when I clicked that link. The only "free lunch" I got was a special 95% off on a torque wrench set when I first signed up (paid r75 which was a good deal). Have tried many of the games/promos with no success. But maybe others will "win".
  15. Ain't this the truth. If you make a low offer, and someone calls you a cheapskate, same thing applies, grow a thicker skin, don't go crying about it. If you keep making low offers and people are peeved off with you and block you, so what - they can't offer the deals you want, so you are both saving your time when they block you. However, continue to voice your opinions about how ridiculous so & so is and how stupid/amazing or whatever the lowballers are, I'm new to engaging more with this forum, but it's clear that the bikehub community thrives on the drama of strong opinions.
