  2. what is the safety situation at Groenkloof to date? i've not cycled there for months, since all the incidents and attacks there. has it improved, or is it better to stay away?
  3. things are not well at Groenkloof at all.... in Friday's Pretoria News is an article about corruption and all kinds of tensions in management at Groenies.... no wonder it's going like it is.
  4. www.muna.co.za these little machines are so cool!! Check out the Chris Birch edition push bike - supercool!
  5. same here - i've never had any issues with my SAS board or any USN race results for that matter - first time i've received a DNF.... mailed them and Spectrum.... awaiting their response....

  7. results are up: USN cup Mtb #3
  8. the 30km was just as tough, really tested my skills on the technical parts, and it was just muddy enough in some places to make it interesting. damn, but the climbing got to me! good race and well marked trails.
  9. race profiles here: http://www.usn.co.za...-2014-R447.html some pretty gnarly elevation there! the USN races are usually very well organised and marshaled.
  10. see this post: http://www.thehubsa....i/#entry2226832 In light of all that is happening to cyclists on our roads, a shooting is bound to happen sooner or later.... Though I also condemn the actions of those CampsBay cyclists, I must say my moer-meter is near boiling point too. (No, i don't own a gun, and don't intend getting one!) EVERY time i go out for a ride - obeying all road rules, mind.... i get one or two twatwaffles in their cages who blatantly break the road rules... I would have been roadkill many, many times if I hadn't been vigilant. Will start recording all my rides and post video of offenders soon.... I myself am gatvol of all and sundry having it in for cyclists, while cagers break the rules and endanger cyclists every day!
  11. i'm so upset right now, i actually want to cry........ it's time to take the law into our own hands.... there, i said it.
  12. yip, i'm on Wilddogs and it's one of the guys there who got mugged. in his own words..... Cycling home form work yesterday a colleague and I take the under-construction road in the veld across Cornwall hill, speeding down the hill when very suddenly 4 guys jump out of the bushes next to us. They jumped right into our way such that we could not miss them, we collided with them and went down, doing about 30km/h or so. Anyway, getting up the first thing I do is start taking a swing at the guy closest to me, when I notice the knife in my face and my colleague also held at knife point. They took our backpacks, bicycles, my shirt and shoes, watch, ring, everything. Then led me into the bush to the left and my colleague to the bush on the right, all the while holding knives to our throats. It was only then that I started worrying, there's no reason to lead me into the veld if they already have all my stuff, and I started fearing the worst. They made me lie face down, hitting me on the head with a rock if I dare look up. I was just waiting for the stabbing to start. Luckily it did not. They bound my hands behind by back with wire, and my feet, then held the knife to my throat again until I gave them my iPhone's passcode. After that they were gone. Long story short, we were found by security guys and the community policing forum of Pierre Van Ryneveld, and they unbound us. In the end, I was lucky to still get home and see my wife and kids. The rest can be replaced. The CPF eventually recovered our bicycles, ironically the only item that is insured. I still don't know how I feel about the whole lot, but I suppose I'll start feeling something over the weekend. For now, I'm just happy my sons still have someone to call dad, and my wife's not sleeping alone.
