  1. This is entertaining Yoh
  2. To follow on, I'd suggest that if Tadej got to ride a better bike he would be even better. While those Colnago's are steeped in history and magical, mythical legend, their current bikes are quite simply not as sharp or racey as other bikes in the peleton.
  3. They did the maths. They released a statement about it and why Tadej swapped bikes and Yates didn't. UAE stand by their decision despite the result. It's easy to sit here and bark, but those guys have ALL the info, all the stats, history and understanding. If they are happy they made the right call, then they have re crunched the data and would likely make the same decision again. Bear in mind that, despite all the Colnago fans telling you otherwise, their TT bike is HEAVY. Like properly heavy. I think Vingegaard's TT bike weighed 8.3kg, while the Colnago is more than 10kg. If the road bike weighs 6.8kg, the 1.5kg weight difference vs 10 seconds for JV is different to 3.2kg for 10 seconds Something like that. You say stupid in Hindsight, they say science
  4. What is Zef? Many moons ago I slid some silicone grips onto the drops over my bar tape. It was skitz rad on those bumps descents like Swartberg pass and cruising the greenbelts. I'm going to try it and see. I recon it will be the bees knees
  5. It's as simple as waiting until tomorrow! JV smashing blood bags hard right now..... Riccardo Riccogegaard just unleashed hell. I'm pretty sure he went to the darkest place in his soul at some point during or after that. Bouncing back from that Spaceballs helmet fest is going to be tough. It's also tough for UAE to mentally know they have to attack attack attack. 2 minutes isn't going to be made up on final 500m sprints and bonus seconds, so hopefully it means we get what it says on the box in the final week..... ENTERTAINMENT!
  6. Riccardo Ricco flashbacks......... 🙃
  7. I've always wondered about sliding multiple silicone grips on. Cut a square out for the lever and slide them up. I might do this when I next need to bar tape up
  8. With your powers combined, you are captain Q-Loc Axle!!!!
  9. Funny that he can't regain any sort of form or fitness away from Sky and their doctors.... 🙃
  10. My advice would be to not put your bike drive side down when you stop to rest and take in the scenery. Other than that, enjoy it, don't get sucked into the Image stuff and remember that riding bikes is a journey. Your beliefs, priorities, abilities and focus will shift constantly. Try not to preach or demean others who are at different stages in their bike journey. Stay enthusiastic and be rad to everyone out there (dog walkers, runners, all other bike riders etc)
  11. Did you google it? There are videos made and official press releases from Shimano about it..... The simple way to not get scammed.... If it looks too good to be true, it usually is.
  12. If you google it, you will get the answer
  13. What does this mean? Again, I'm just very interested in your motivation and direction behind some of your posts. The whole process behind the Tigre, the testing, the sample frames, the progression etc was all well documented when Kiwi was busy with it all. He even passed around a couple of frames/bikes to local guys who gave him honest feedback and assisted in getting the project from idea to production. Nothing about the frame or how it came into being is secret, so I'm interested to know how you know more about Scott or Spez frame manufacturing/development than you do this?
  14. haha yeah... the aero vs light for a weekend warrior is an interesting one. A lot of people on the road don't ride fast enough to actually benefit from the marginal gains of either, so in reality it's a moot point. For those slightly more serious, my understanding is that those with power benefit more from an aero bike and suffer less from the weight penalty, while those who are super light and less powerful on the flats benefit more from a light bike and less from an aero bike. But then just buy both surely and don't forget to put a bespoke hand made recycled bar bag on for your spares.......
  15. TDF TEAM BIKES apparently. The data I've read from mechanics etc is the same. They even have weight differences and changes for Vingegaards 1x bike and the wheel choices, so I'd guess the information is openly shared
  16. There are obviously some bikes right on the 6.8kg mark. Again, not the point. Back in the day teams drilled holes in their cranks and used dental floss for spokes to get the bike to 6.8kg Nowadays guys are happy to race 'heavier' bikes due to gains elsewhere and the realisation/acceptance that Cav will still suck over the mountains regardless of 200 to 400g of bike weight but has better aero gains in the valleys on the aero bike and saves more time there than trying to force it. The science of marginal gains and where to apply them has exceeded a simple bike weight calculation these days. But my wafflewaffle aside, don't believe the published articles, commentators, mechanics, riders and bike checks.... They are all lying 😜
  17. I have seen a few bike checks and the commentators have mentioned some bikes weighing in at 7kg ish plus or minus some change. So there are definitely bikes in the TDF weighing over 7kg
  18. I don't think anyone is disputing that part of the equation. It's not 100% true but true enough. The question is over the 6.8kg obsession, ie, getting ALL bikes to weigh 6.8kg. They evidently don't these days as some of the bikes are currently documented as being over 7kg
  19. They were saying that some (many) of the Aero bikes in the peleton were around the 7kg mark I think there is less of an obsession around the 6.8kg mark as suggested. As mentioned above, the advancements in carbon layup/material and strength has left some of the UCI bike rules redundant. There is also a limit to chainstay/Seatstay thickness which has apparently been rubbished with modern materials. But ja, I'd agree that bike weight is 'less important' than it used to be in the way that some riders/teams are happy to ride 7kg bikes and not painfully strip it to make it 6.8kg
  20. A lot of this is Power Band stuff....... 😜
  21. You can definitely remove the little rachet grabber from that shifter. It's a sweet build, enjoy!
  22. What is that wishbone thing? Is that to actuate the dropper? I see you're running 1x...... If you really wanted to get smart, take the rachet out of the left hand shifter and use that to actuate the dropper?
  23. He is a super rad guy. We are related through the wife's side and like all relations, don't see enough of each other. If you do go that route, go and check out his workshop and tools etc..... If you are a tool/bike/engineering nerd you will pitch a tent in your pants
