  1. Price Drop for this coming september long weekend - Pay only R6500.00 for a group of 4. There is only one package available at this price - to book now, click here We arent really sure if this weekend escape from the city is for the foodie with a MTB problem, or the MTBer with an eating disorder. What we do know for sure though, is riding bikes makes you hungry, and food and wine go so well with MTBs, that it makes perfect sense to pair them. This awesome weekend of MTBing is a bargain at only R2600.00pp, and includes 2 nights accomodation, all meals, a full day of guided riding on saturday, crossing through private property normally off limits to the public, two cheese tastings, a number of wine tastings (if the goverment grows a brain), and a day pass to the Hemel and Aarde Trails on Sunday. all of this, and its not even 2 hours drive from the city, if you take it easy. for all the details, and to book your spot - click here Space is strictly limited to 8 riders for the weekend, and we already have two spots taken - so there are 6 spots still avaialble. Remember, if you pay by EFT, you get a free branded buff. ************We will have a selection of local botique wine for personal consumption available free of charge, at the accomodation, regardless of the regulations that may be in place at the time.... however, wine tasting at the vineyards may not be possible, as a result of the alcohol ban.
  2. Great that you obviously picked up this is a scam.... But how do people actually fall for stories like this. I mean seriously. Why would you believe that someone offshore on an oil rig, that has access to the internet, cant just do a regular EFT like anybody else? Why do people fall for these stories.
  3. Updated avaialbility in the first post. There are now only 3 more spots availalbe for the second deprture of the Makgadigadi Tour, and the Second Tuli Ride is now fully booked - Please be in touch is you would like to be added to a waiting list for this.
  4. Hi Mudlark, our bookings T&Cs can be found here: https://adventurelogistics.co.za/shop/tcs/ Essentially, if we are forced to cancel a departure based on restictions related to Covid, we will first try secure an alternate date within a 12 month window. If a suitable date cannot be found, we will refund in full, waiving all regular refund handling fees - pricing will remain unchanged for the future trip (ie: we are carrying all the risk in this regard)
  5. For the Zululand Wild Ride in KZN, the process has been documented here previously, but we are able to issue permits for this. - we have run a number of these trips succesfully under level 4 and level 3 of the lockdown. We were hoping the restcitions would be eased by end of July, making it unescesarry to issue travel permits for the escaprment escape tours, but we will be able to issue permits if it is still required. All our trips requiring cross border travel, are scheduled for October and beyond. We are fairly certain that SADC borders will be open by the 15th of September. However, if they do not, we will either reschedule, or refund in full - as documented on our bookings policy on the website Please note, prices as above in the first post are still valid till close of business today

  7. If you want a really good trail bike, that can do duty as a relaxed marathon bike, dont underestimate the stumpjumper ST (Short Travel). I recently got one as my primary all rounded bike, and its awesome. Stock is a problem at them moment though

  9. The statos is a seriosuly ugly bike (in my opinion), but it rides like its on rails. It would be my pic out of those three
  10. I know the rand took a dive and that messed up the pricing on everything. But I just cant see how they expect to move these items at this price. Its mental to spend that on a digital sports watch, seriously. Pretty soon you will have the option to finanace these devices too......I cant see how else they plan to move them. Before I spend 20k on a garmin watch, I will rather save another 5 and buy a Tag Carrera, that I will still hand down to my grandchildren one day..... PS; I love garmin products, and own a few, but wont be upgrading anytime soon
  11. Wow.... never expected this thread to become such a big one.... after starting the thread a few months ago, circumstances have seen me ending up with only one bike, and it’s a dual susser. But this thread gives me loads of hard tail envy. As soon as finances allow, and stock actually reached out shores.... I’m defiantly getting another bike, and it will be a hardtail.
  12. I replied on anther thread where we are launching our escarpment escapade rides, and offering for today only 50% off bookings on all our trips here:https://community.bikehub.co.za/topic/186132-wacky-wednesday-and-thursday-escarpment-escape-mtb-tour/ But as the questions was specically relating to the lesotho trip, I thought I should post the response here too - There are only three spots in total left for the Lesotho Trip, dont hesitate, now is your chance to get in on this at a bargain price... Dirt Tracker, if I where you, I would say just do it. The only day that is really all about the ups, is the first day, the ride up to the border is a serious climb. The full day of riding in Sethlabathebe National Park, is very much trail/enduro slanted, more than typical XC/Marathon. We start the day at the highest point in the reserve, and finish at the lowest..... Those crazy enough to want to then try ride back out are welcome, but any sane human will load the bike on the trailer at that point. Matabeng pass is a big climb, but the descent is nearly twice as long km wise, and is what the ride is really all about. Sani pass is down all the way. Also, remember its an tour/adventure, and not a race. you ride what you want, and there is no penalty for choosing to use the shuttle for the climbs if you want. This trip is about having fun on bikes in an amazing environment. Book it, you will not be dissapointed.

  19. Im willing to bet anyone suggesting helmets arent worth the money, or never need replacing, has never fallen hard enough to put this to the test....
  20. Up to Mhlumeni I agree with you, but why go to golela from there? To then ride up the N2? Thats why it will be good to know what kind of bike the OP will be riding? There are many options through Swaziland, but a lot of them will be gravel (amazing, beautiful roads). Regardless of tar or gravel, I would not head to golela. You should target to exit swazi at either oshoek or down at bulembo (this would be my choice) and then continue through Barbeton, then up over the escarpment again in lydenberg/origstad area and then make your way through limpopo to the bots border. If You on a gravel or MTB, you could also choose to go from Machadodorp, all the way to loskop dam, via Dullstroom and tonteldoos almost entirely on quiet dirt roads.
  21. Im in Pretoria - garsfontien. But I have not got any PM
  22. After a ride like that, the extra 300odd km won't matter much, it's crossing over the spitzkoppe that kills you, even on the desert dash it's a killer on fresh legs
  23. You could actually quite easily do that route on pretty good tar all the way, but a full on road race bike might not be the most comfortable stead. Are you planning to camp at all? Will you be carrying gear to be able to camp, or is this going to be lodge/hotels etc all the way?
  24. No helmet is never better. I can't actually believe I'm seeing this post on a bike forum. Yes, you can fall with or without a helmet, and walk away, or break an arm or collarbone with or without a helmet. But the kind of fall that a helmet will save you from is literally a life or death scenario. You don't need to be going super fast or doing something silly to fall in a way that could end your riding for ever without a helmet.
