You’re cycling for 3 years and still cramp after 50km? To me that’s a bike fit problem. Something ain’t right there mate.

Yeah I get it. Just found it funny that it happened so soon after he said. I think for the most part people were well behaved. There was that section after the silos where we had a few hell drivers with no patience where some guys should’ve come over sooner but other than that the bunch was good. suppose it also helps that the entrants were much less than the 99er where is was just chaos.

Is this the Namibian dude? Jislaaik that ou was kaaak strong. WRT crashes. I dunno why people are so reluctant to use their brakes. They’d rather swerve across the bunch than just to tether the brakes a bit and slow down. Drives me crazy. Another hilarious thing. In the start bunch the announcer saying anyone crossing the white line gets an automatic dq. Not even 500m after the start, people already riding in oncoming traffic 🤦🏻‍♂️

Agreed. Pleased with my performance today. First time riding in C and definitely felt like a step up. Managed to finish with the main bunch at 2:50. Also had a cheeky dig at the bunch climb at the finish. Lead everyone out with an all out sprint only to lose out with 200m left 🤣.

Not sure how this correlates with the men this year. All three are GC contenders and Alpecin are not a GC team so a bit of a strange selections there.

PPA did a mtb event last year around July. Don’t think it was related to the Argus though although not sure myself. I wouldn’t be surprised to see an Argus gravel event soon. Seems to be the in thing at the moment.

If they’re coming from the Winspace factory then the QC will definitely be on the better end of the Chinese manufacturer spectrum.

Looks like a solid offering to me. The website has no geometry chart listed so I assume it’s because it’s custom made. Production is in China though and if each frame is custom made, probably a costly process. Would be interesting to get more details wrt fit. It could be that they have a set geometry chart, but they do a custom fit before hand and then make sure you get the correct size. I don’t think it’s proper custom like a steel bike where they can actually custom each tube size according to your measurement. Based on the pics of the bike, it looks like a standard mould bike.

I’m curious to see how these new chips look. Gonna laugh my arse off if it’s the same as the disposable plastic ones. I have 4 of them already which I paid for.

Ya will see how this weekends race goes but Im feeling quite strong. Obviously if there is rain, will probably change everything as I won’t risk it. I suppose the bigger question is do I even want to be that high up? 1A should be plenty strong anyway.

Did I read this correctly or am i going crazy? You actually compared Chapmans Peak to Afghanistan? Wowzers. My mind is actually blown. Wow. To me, Chappies is actually one of the safest roads to ride a bike. For the most part, there are more bikes there than cars and it’s never busy besides cyclists. That is not a dangerous road. What happened was a reckless driver taking the law into his own hands and endangering everyone else. A dangerous road is Kalk Bay to Simons Town where there is no shoulder and it’s packed with cars. Chappies is the complete opposite of this. You passed on information which is not factual to be factual. Next time if you can’t verify your info then dont post it. I’m not sure what sort of response you were expecting here?

Just out of interest, what is your current PPA seeding? I currently have a 21 seeding so expecting to be in 1A based on current results. What would i need to get to to jump into one of the racing cats?

Just out of interest, how does the seeding work for groups before 1A? Do you need to have a racing licence for those groups or can anyone qualify there?

I haven’t received mine yet but I also entered the Tour de PPA. I’m assuming that’s the reason I haven’t been seeded yet.

Can barely read anything here but on my forecast it’s saying just heavy cloud cover but zero precipitation. I guess we’ll have to just see how it play out.

On the FinishTime website when I search my name and surname, i get one set of results. When i search my name, middle name and surname I also get different set of results. I’ve also noticed that some events i did last year like Gravel & Grape, Ronde van riebeeck & Boland Gravel Monster are listed on FinishTime website but haven’t been ported over to Racetec. I’m not sure if this is because they weren’t PPA supported events or not but would be nice if everything could be in one place.

Agreed, unless he means it came loose and because of this it couldn’t read over the timing mat. I’m not really sure how much difference the angle of the chip actually makes when it reads. I can’t imagine it really matters. Putting it in your jersey pocket may be a bit too high to read but again im just speculating. Too me it seems your chip was faulty if this is what actually happened.

Surely if the board is zip tied, it shouldn’t fall off. It can come loose but it’s zip tied around your seat post through the hole in the timing board. Impossible to fall off.

Next year for me. Glad I never entered as I wouldn’t have been at the required level for this. But yeah hopefully next year with a few tweaks and upgrades to the bike as well And I’m in. Definitely a bucket list event for sure.

They look amazing but surely if you’re going this route you’re doing it for cost? 110K is quite a bit of money for essentially a no name brand. Surely for this sort of money there are better options?

My seeding reflects the Winelands race so your should as well. I’m not really sure how the seeding works with e-bikes though. It could be that then?
