  1. This is a fair point and actually makes a lot of sense as there will probably be some overlap of the Mtb & Gravel. But if we just stick to Road and Off Road then, the point i was trying to make was to have them on a separate day so we can actually do both. Again I understand that there will obviously be additional costs, but how do we actually gauge the interest of having them on separate days to see if it’s actually feasible?
  2. As long as we have around 60% gravel, I’m cool with that. People tend to complain too much about this but a lot of gravel races actually have a decent amount of tar. The only way to connect A to B is mostly via tar. Durbanville have so much gravel options its more about getting permission from the farms that will be the biggest hurdle. The Swartberg race which is supposed to be our premier gravel event in this country has about 40% tar. But yeah, for me personally i would love to do both options if I had a choice.
  3. That seems to be what lots of people are implying 🤣.
  4. It says no late entries on race day. Seems pretty clear to me.
  5. OP bought a bike. Not an electronic device. Tbh, I would rather ask my LBS to charge it for me than spend 3k on a charger. Seems like we all just brushed over this. 3K for a freaking charger. In terms of ripoffs, that is right up there!
  6. How are they doing seeding now that racetec is gone? Seems like seeding hasn’t been updated for a while now. Can I also just say that FinishTime website is so poor and not intuitive at all. My word. I hope it gets revamped for the Argus or something. Also hope that our historic results gets somehow transferred over.
  7. I responded to this point earlier and I’ll do it again. If I sell a phone and it came with a charger, then you need to sell the phone with a charger unless you specifically state in the ad, the charger is excluded. If i sell you a phone which do not come with a charger, then i do not need to put a charger in as the phone never came with it. The bike came with a charger, hence the charger has to be included.
  8. I feel like they missed a trick here. I think many of us would actually like to do both Road and mtb. It’s one of the reasons I loved the knysna race until they changed that also now. Why not have Mtb Saturday and then Road on Sunday? I think there would lots of interest in something like this. Would actually be a great idea for any event organizer as I don’t recall anything like this in the western cape at least. Road, mtb and gravel all over a long weekend. Would be great.
  9. And it’s always specified that pedals are not included. Same should have been done here. The Di2 does come with a cable so your comparison makes no sense.
  10. This woman is crazy man. Charger should be supplied. Next time I sell my phone, I’ll exclude the charger as well. You can pay extra for it. Honestly the stupidest thing I’ve come across today.
  11. Nice spot. Wonder what’s the plan here now? If they take a left after Hells, that road was in poor condition before the recent rains as well so can’t imagine how shite it is now. Perhaps they will have to cut Helschoogte out here as well. Which pretty much means a complete new route.
  12. I mean the road surface on Bains is amazing. So so smooth so in that sense I agree. However I have never been up Du Toits whereas I have been up Bains multiple times from both sides in the past couple of months. So not gonna pay again to do the same thing again.
  13. Change of route: BOLAND 100 MILER ROUTE AND VENUE AMENDMENT Please note that the organisation has had to amend the route for the upcoming Boland 100 Miler due to road works on the Wemmershoek Road between Paarl and Franschhoek. The road works were present last year, but the contractor afforded the event passage. This the contactor believes the road will not constitute a safe riding environment. The event used this section in the final 25km before turning right towards Du Toits Kloof Pass. The change makes a finish on top of Du Toits Kloof impossible, hence we have introduced a new route which will finish at the top of Bainskloof Pass. The venue changes to Café La Vita just outside Wellington on the Bainskloof Pass Road. It’s a beautiful venue perfectly suited to the hosting with ample ablutions and delightful culinary treats available. From the finish on top of the pass it’s a freewheel back to the venue. The change brings the distance to 150km and the ascent to 1831m. For the amended event info , CLICK HERE Date: 22 October 2023 Start: Café La Vita (below Bainskloof Pass), Wellington. Finish: Top of Bainskloof Pass (Wellington) Distance: 150km Route touchpoints: Wellington | Paardeberg | Malmesbury | Riebeck Kasteel | Hermon | Gouda | Tulbagh | Finish Top of Bainskloof Vertical ascent: 1831m Start time: 06h00 This is a bit disappointing as I really wanted to go up Du Toits. Obviously it’s completely out of the organisers hands. I’m probably going to skip this now as I’ve been up Bains so many times now.
  14. Entered for this one. First official road event of the season. Should be a good one. Hopefully weather is good as well.
  15. Yeah. We know.
  16. As for title challengers. Yes, I do think Liverpool will be the only challengers to City because they are the only ones who have done it before. Arsenal might challenge but I still think they lack the mentality when things get tough. We’ll see if they are better this season. I think Spurs are nailed on to get 4th. Ange is doing great things but still way too early for me. We need to see how you react to adversity and pressure. So far so good though and I hope you do well. The league needs more challengers. But yeah, Liverpool have shown in the past they can stick with City and push them so that’s why I would have them as closest challengers. I still think City will probably win it again though.
  17. I get all that and I understand that these things happen to all clubs. However you have to admit that this particular incident is a bit different. Here the officials actually got the decision right. I mean you can hear it in the audio. The communication was just terrible and the arrogance of the refs to not fix the mistake is the problem for me. Common sense needed to be applied here and the game should’ve been stopped. They realised the mistake like 3 secs later. I’m still in disbelief how they opted not to stop the game. This is where stuff like match fixing comes into the discussion. And again this has nothing to do with spurs as they are completely innocent here but the fact that the same official is now banned from all Liverpool games. I mean what the hell man? This just makes the integrity of the game even more compromised. So I understand your frustration but I honestly feel that Liverpool actually doing something is good int the sense that maybe just maybe these officials will be better next time.
  18. Why are you referring to me as you lot? I am neutral in this discussion. You started off your response very maturely. You ended it off like a child. Not even sure it warrants a response but I’ll give you one anyway. You are bringing up loads of previous incidents. I’m not sure what any of them have to do with Liverpool taking this further. If Wolves had a legitimate goal disallowed but chose to not take it further, what has that got to do with Liverpool? Why should Liverpool scream injustice on behalf of Spurs fans? You are being a bit ridiculous mate. Spurs fans are well within there right to scream injustice themselves and Spurs as a club are also well within their right to complain and take it further. Instead Spurs did nothing. That’s not Liverpools problems. Every fan of every club screamed outrage after that decision. Now that Liverpool decided to take it further those same fans are crying and saying they should just accept it😂. Enjoy your three points. I do feel sorry for spurs a bit as they clearly did nothing wrong. However the result is null and void in my eyes. It’s not gonna make much difference to spurs season as I don’t really see you challenging for the title. But for Liverpool, it could be catastrophic. Let’s see how the season plays out.
  19. You sound like a Liverpool hater. Klopp is not demanding anything. He’s merely saying the only solution to fixing the problem is a replay. And in that sense, I agree with him. There is nothing else that can be done to rectify that error, only a replay. He also doesn’t expect a replay. People keep saying Liverpool should move on and accept this. Every club should actually be backing Liverpool on this. The only way to get the refs to improve is to actually do something about it. If the refs walk away Scot free again, the same thing happens again next week. This is the first time a club has actually decided to challenge them. These refs are grossly incompetent and need to be held accountable. This same VAR has now been banned from all Liverpool matches. What kind of a message does that say to Liverpool and to the rest of the clubs? That’s almost like they are admitting to a bias against Liverpool. It’s a really poor decision. I personally don’t think Liverpool will do anything about it as it stands. But what I can say is if Liverpool lose the title by 2 points or miss out on a champions league spot then I wouldn’t be surprised if they go after the PGMOL. A similar thing happened to Arsenal last year, the difference is that Arsenal ended up miles away from the title so it made no sense to pursue it further. If Arsenal had lost the title by a point, then I’m almost certain we would not have heard the last of that. I expect a similar thing to happen this year. If Liverpool’s title challenge disintegrates as the season goes on, everyone will forget and move on. But if it doesn’t, they will take this to court. Also wrt Semi-automated offsides, you realised that it wouldn’t have made a difference here? The problem wasn’t the offside call. They actually got it correct. It was the poor communication as they weren’t fully focused on the game at hand. The same outcome would’ve happened if it was semi automated as he was onside.
  20. Ah okay makes sense now yes. I actually went back to check and I see the distances never increased for those years so they obviously changed the route. But yeah, there were definitely plans to go over there. I remember people were also complaining that the extra distance was too much.
  21. Unless of course they changed the route the same year due to Constantia being too dangerous. It could be something like that. But I do clearly remember there was marketing and everything going over the Nek. So either it was 1 year where it did go over or they made a last minute change but the initial plan was to go over there. I
  22. I am not mistaken mate. It was the first detour year that went over. After that, they ditched the Nek and went up the M3. The reason they gave at the time was that it was too dangerous. It was also the longest Argus route ever. If I recall it was close to 120km. No. After the Nek, you head into Houtbay and go straight over Suikerbossie. It skips Chapmans Peak.
  23. I think 2002. That could just be a random guess also but somewhere around that time,
  24. As a seasoned cyclist myself and one that has done all of these detours, let me educate all of you 😀. There was 1 detour over ou kaapse and and then Constantianek. After that, they deemed constantianek too dangerous and rather opted to go back up the M3 again. I think we had 2 or 3 of them up the M3. So if they are going to use the detour, then I’m certain it would be that route and not through Constantia. The actual route itself went from the M3 onto Boyes Drive, as the road leading into Kalk Bay, Fish Hoek was also under maintenance. So basically we went, M3 to Boyes Drive then over Smits around Misty Cliffs and then instead of going left to Chappies, we went straight over Ou Kaapse. That would definitely be how they do it. Going up red hill and then black hill to Ou Kaapse will just be chaos. They wont do that.
  25. Chappies took some serious damage. Will be a while before we can cross with a road bike. how long you guys think before we get an Argus Gravel Race? Seems to be the in thing at the moment.
