  1. Maybe sweat is the answer. Everybody sweats differently. From my own perspective, I do not sweat a lot and maybe because of this, the salt affects my clothing less than someone that sweats bucketloads. Probably clutching at straws here but I cannot see any other reason.
  2. Ciovita have major sizing discrepancies. You can buy 2 of the same size kits and the same design and they will fit differently.
  3. I do none of the things anyone has mentioned in this thread. All my bibs literally just get washed like normal as per any other clothes. It gets mixed in with those corrected as well. I don’t use a specific bag and I don’t use any special detergent or softener. I also hang them out to dry in direct sun. I’ve only had 1 bib go thin after about 5 years of use. And I’ve had various brands like assos, dhb, kalas and some chinese bibs. They’ve all been fine. Not really sure what your issue is but maybe you just overthinking it. Just throw them in the wash and be done with it.
  4. This was a lot of work done and a lot of parts replaced. When you do a proper service like this they normally strip every part of the bike and clean it. Your bike should feel amazing after all this work so enjoy. 12000 is far too long on a chain. I would say 5000km max otherwise you damage every other component. If you swap out your chain consistently, your cassette and chain rings will last much longer as well.
  5. They’re a weird bunch over there in the states. I rented a car in Orlando while on holiday there 2 years back. I approached a robot and then realised I was in the wrong lane. Before I got to the robot I obviously then moved over into the correct lane next door. But I was kinda half in one lane, half in another. A cop then pulls up behind me puts his siren on and of course I pull over. What happened next was like literally out of a movie. I then had to slowly get out of the car, hands behind my head walk backwards while this dude is literally pointing a gun at me. He then does a full on search on me all because a bit of my car was in another lane. Absolutely bonkers!
  6. You would need a CSA racing licence. And I think to get a CSA license you need to be a member of a cycling club.
  7. Adam Yates was in supreme form last year. Since his move to UAE, he’s had 1 job and that is to protect Pogi. I don’t think you’d find anyone better than him just based on last years form. The other two, Ayuso & Almeida are a bit more worrisome. We’ll have to see just how committed they are to work for Pogi as I think both have their own personal ambitions as well. UAE have so many climbing domestiques, it’s really the flatter part where I feel they might struggle to control a break and are a bit short. But maybe they’re just going with a new tactic this year. Pogi has always been isolated in the mountains with only Yates that stepped up last year. I think he’s hoping with Almeida and Ayuso he’d maybe have more support in the high mountains.
  8. I think people forget Unbound is also 200 miles which is around 320km. It’s double what I would say is considered the norm for a gravel race. It’s an absolute beast of a race. Lachlan has so much more experience than everyone else when you look at everything hes done. A race this distance is so much more than physical. It’s mental and it’s also about nutrition and he hes got so much experience fueling for these distances. I don’t think people actually realise how difficult it is to continually eat for 9 hours. Your gut takes an absolute beating.
  9. This is the one race which actually suits him more than Swenson. But a lot of the time this race just comes down to luck with mechanicals, punctures and who’s bike can shed mud the best.
  10. I actually think the bike looks sick. I think the wheels maybe a bit overkill. 45-50mm wheels would’ve looked better but he’s all about performance.
  11. If you are racing then yes I’d agree. But if you not racing, then I’d rather have bottles and not deal with a pack on my back for multiple hours.
  12. It hasn’t rained that much to worry too much about mud clearance. I’d stick with the wider tyres.
  13. Last year we had similar temperatures. Not gonna lie, it was p*ss cold in the morning. Like absolutely freezing. Didn’t also help that the 50miler then got delayed which meant we had to wait in the freezing cold there. Must have ridden around the velodrome probably 50 times to keep warm.
  14. Hi guys. When doing this conversion in terms of Sram components. My hardtail currently runs 11s Sram groupset. I’m trying to keep the current bike and components as much as possible so ideally I only want to put on drop handlebars. Not gonna do a rigid fork or anything else. i have a Sram X01 mtb rear derailleur. If I were to put on some drop handlebars, would this derailleur be compatible with Sram Apex or Rival? In terms of brakes, I’m thinking of just keeping my current suspension fork as is. Would an Apex or Rival brake mount fit on my hardtail or is there something I need to do to make it happen?
  15. So nothings changed from last year then.
  16. From the top of Dorstberg.
  17. That would make a great medal.
  18. Last years problem was the lead up to the race. I don’t think it rained much on the day itself but we had huge amounts of continuous rain throughout winter. So far it doesn’t seem as cold and wet this year. I get that rain is good in general but man it wreaks havoc on your bike.
  19. It can’t possibly be as bad as last years Old Hermon. By far the worst conditions I’ve ever raced in.
  20. Anyone going to this event? I entered the Saturday 50km Mtb and 100km Road event on the Sunday. Should be fun. Just hope we get some decent weather as Knysna in winter normally freaking cold and wet.
  21. Seems like the topic of Lourensford comes up every time. People complain about pricing but then take it back when they actually ride the trails. I’ve only been there once and that was for an event. It was pricey as hell but i loved every minute of it. Honestly, that whole area is massive so I would definitely take someone with me who has experience of the trails. It’s an expensive day out if you dont know where you’re going. Or alternatively just enter the event next year.
  22. Nothing. 99% of them are ugly as hell. This one while still ugly, is maybe least ugliest that I’ve seen so far.
  23. Still not 100% sold on the looks of these frankenmonsters yet. However, I think this has got to be the best looking conversion I’ve seen to date.
  24. If customs stops you and opens your box and they see it’s a new bike then yes. But you can get lucky as well. They normally just pick randomly so it’s luck of the draw.
  25. You haven’t really answered the question though or ranked them. But just to comment on what you said: Surely, being able to fit a larger front ring is a massive difference? That’s one part where you are stuck with a mtb. Wrt position on bike, you mentioned the upright thing but forgot about the narrowness. Even if you are on the hoods all the time on a gravel bike, the fact that your body shape is always narrower than on a flat bar means it will automatically make you faster?
