  1. Was it wet though on this particular day? Ive been down Bains twice in the last 2 months and the road surface is absolutely immaculate. One of the best descending experiences for me especially on the Worcester side as there is hardly any traffic. I absolutely flew down there with the biggest grin on my face all the way.
  2. I just ordered some tyres now from Bikeaddict. Tyres weren’t in stock so needed to be ordered. Took them 3 days to order and now the goods are on their way to me. So far no complaints from my side. Also ordered before from them with no real issues. The only annoying part really is the quote first option. Other than that, I’ve had good service from them.
  3. Im only doing the race because i need a seeding for the Argus. I used to enjoy this race mainly because it offered something different. But now with Vissershok taken out and Odendal cut in half, its basically just another same old same old race. I remember one year we even went over gravel, actually sand, then over malanschoogte, then Vissershok then Odendal. That was lovely.
  4. This descent looks absolutely amazing. I would love to take that on but I’m also frightened just watching that. And the rocky part after that descent. Not sure my skill level on a hardtail is up to that. Definitely on the list for the future though when I’m ready.
  5. Only way to really know if it’s damaged is to take it to a professional. From the pics it looks cosmetic but there’s no way any of us can actually tell.
  6. Disappointing ending. Thought the dude was gonna catch him and they then have a proper slogfest. But alas, he basically just rides alone. Epic fail here.
  7. Looks and absolute bitch of a climb. Interesting stats there though. The fastest time only averaged 10.6km/h 😂. I shudder to think what speed i will go up there but challenge accepted. Will probably need a couple of breathers in between as well 😂
  8. I wish it could blame a driver. Unfortunately just me pushing the limits of cornering a bit too far🤣. I think I’ll just blame it on the tires. Needs to be changed 👍
  9. Last year was absolutely terrible. Hated every second of it. Was looking forward to making amends this year only to have a freaking accident this morning. Now sitting with road rash, bruised eye and a sore body. Fingers crossed the body is less sore come Sunday.
  10. Okay this makes it more clear now. Sheesh that Rhino climb looks long and steep🤦🏻‍♂️
  11. Perfect. Think this makes more sense.
  12. Serious question here. But surely a hard tail is a better choice than an actual gravel bike? Unless the route has loads of tar sections, why would you opt for a gravel instead of a hard tail? Just put some narrower less aggressive tyres on and you’re good to go. You’ll also descend so much better as well. Anyways, that’s my 2c for the day.
  13. When you talking about the mast climb are you referring to the section going to Bloemendaaler? Or is there a different mast climb at Conties? I thought if I go up that black rhino climb I’d come out on the top and then decide if I wanna do another supertubes or change trail back to bloemendaaler? im definitely not gonna try my luck descending down a black trail on hard tail so if that’s the case I’d rather then just skip it if there’s no alternative.
  14. Anyone know how technical the Black Rhino climb is at Conties? And do you need to do any black rated downhill sections to get there? Never been to Conties before but was hoping to try it this weekend. Obviously want to do supertubes, cheeky corners etc, skip the black rated trails but I love a lekker steep climb to get the lungs open. I will be on a hardtail so yeah, if it’s just steep then fine. Is is similar to Dorstberg climb or more technical?
  15. That Race to the sea one looks tempting. Anyone done it before?
  16. Okay makes sense now.
  17. Think you just need to calm down and chill mate. It’s just a a bit of fun. Mine is 85. The countries thing is a bit weird though. It’s telling me I’ve ridden in countries i have definitely not visited. Mine is 85km
  18. Does anyone actually have a strava file for the route? Cant see anything on the website. Also what are the 5 climbs? I need to do some analysis before i decide to enter.
  19. 85 KOM’s!! Are you Nino Schurter in disguise?
  20. I gotta say the new store at n1 city has been fantastic so far everytime I’ve walked in there. All the staff seem knowledgeable as well which is a bonus so o complaints yet. CWC on the other hand. **** Mr they just suck at everything. I once shown an hour in the store, walked past 5 sales guys and not one even bothered to ask me if i needed assistance. I also bought a Sidi Road shoe in their online site at a great price. Went to collect it and the white shoe was like yellow in color. It was dusty and dirty, looked worn as well.
  21. No worries, mate. Whilst I agree that if you are have a large book, then clearly you do have leverage. However some times it’s easier also to just chat nicely with the assessor, give him your reasons for wanting a cash payout, and 99% of the time a big insurer like Santam will just do it. So to end off, my advice is don’t just accept the cash card. Chat with your broker and get them to try and get a cash settlement. It shouldn’t be that difficult if you have a legitimate reason.
  22. Once they pay out the claim then they own the salvage. They’re not actually buying anything back. They’re obviously then selling the frames to limit their losses. What the buyer then did with that frame is on him. Ethically speaking it should be noted that it was a repaired frame. Unfortunately many people don’t operate ethically which is sad.
  23. Tell him to get an independent damage report where they state the damage is not repairable. CBR wants business and obviously not gonna say that especially if they vouch for their work. Problem is a bike is not a car. And once you repair a bike, then any value that bike holds is most likely gone.
  24. Wrt the voucher. It’s not actually a voucher. It’s a cash card which you can swipe at any shop. The only thing you can’t do with the card is draw money from it. A lot of the times is not really an issue and the assessors don’t particularly care that much. However, on the odd occasion you’ll get an extremely fussy assessor who does everything by the book. That’s just down to luck though.
  25. If that’s what you took out from everything I’ve said then fair enough.
