  1. Its seriously sexy, congrats bro.
  2. Oh bliksem, you really just took me for a trip down memory lane with words I tried to block from my mind for so long!!
  3. Was that the one CWC had on their facebook page?
  4. Wow that came out looking really good!
  5. And speak of the devil! This just arrived, keen to try out the gluebot too. Drill guide will be useful because I dont have a drill press.
  6. Yup that is the case, still I think its better value buying the belt sander that Im waiting for than buying say a Bosch green(which was more expensive) Some of the stuff I think is ok to gamble on and others not so much. Its sad though, I like Triton, its generally pretty good quality. The superjaws I have get used a whole lot for working outside on messy stuff.
  7. Im also very happy with mine.
  8. I have heard good thing of both the Hock and Veritas chipbreaker/iron combos. Last I saw Toolcraft was actually stocking them locally.
  9. Going to try out the glubot from toolcraft, got one on order with some other bits and bobs so will see how it goes.
  10. The steering seems to be a modern Suzuki thing, my wife's swift is like that too. No way I would take it on a long trip because of that steering.
  11. Hmm strangely I didnt get one either, I have bought a ton of stuff from them! Was a bit bummed though, I had a Triton belt sander in my cart and a couple of belts but wanted to check if the belts would fit because they werent the 100% correct size. Took a little too long for a response and they were sold out.
  12. Its probably one of the better places to post it. I still need tons of stuff so will definitely take a look.
  13. Im leaning heavily in that direction too. I like Makita, I have some pretty old corded tools from them that will outlive me Im sure. Do you think its better to start with a kit i.e drill or driver with 2x batteries and charger, or to just buy some batteries and a charger then buy individual tool only items?
  14. Its a shame really, Bosch is probably the best represented brand in decent tools in SA. Its a bit of a thing though having to invest in batteries and chargers so once you are in a brand its an expensive move going to another. It seems though that a lot of the Makita tools we get here are the older brushed versions so there is also that to consider.
  15. The cordless stuff has really progressed in the last short while, its mad to think you can have some of those more powerful tools running on batteries. Im at the point where I need to choose a brand to invest in batteries/chargers etc and Im swaying in the Makita direction. It seems the Bosch blue range is fairly limited in SA and similar prices to Makita.
  16. Yup I have a weedeater extension I keep for the sander and router so the Shuko plug will stay. They definitely make it a smaller package than a normal plug.
  17. Thanks, I was pretty happy with how it came out in the end. The dimensions are not great at all, it could have been so much nicer if they understood proportions a bit better. The legs splay in a very strange way too and needed tons of tuning to get them sit flat on the floor.
  18. You scratched an old itch with that thread you started about them a while ago. My wife made me wait until my birthday though because she wanted to get it for me.
  19. My wife also asked me to turn some Christmas decorations, normally its not my thing but its been quick and fairly fun stuff. Hand carving that star on top was a pain, it was so delicate that the first few broke before getting one that stayed together. These little dudes are meant to hang in a tree. Might do some more with colouring just to experiment a bit.
  20. So this little cabinet was a long story, normally I would have made this myself and been done with but a friend won a voucher to a new woodworking business and gave it to my wife. She chose this and that was where the pain started... 2 months worth of ignored messages and calls to the place and finally they said to come pick this up. Finish was absolutely horribly done and the drawer couldnt even open and close because it was skew and the runners we done so badly. They also attached the drawer front FROM THE FRONT!!!! seriously screw holes everywhere and then filled and varnished. This is what it looked like when I got it off. There was no glue used anywhere, just some screws and only visible surfaces had paint/varnish on them. The handle was cut with a jigsaw... badly!! I made a new front, changed the handle design and fixed the drawer/slides. Then a bit of stain and I think it came out looking a lot better, heck you can even open and close the drawer now! Im not sure how someone can give that to a client and think they will ever be back again, but maybe that is just me.
  21. So I think I can finally call myself a man after getting this
  22. Very nice, I still need to get a trim router. The big router is a bit too big for some tasks but there is such a limited selection of trim routers in SA.
  23. There are other things to do in running besides long distance. Being a 5 or 10k specialist is super challenging in its own regard. I like to do the odd long race but also really enjoy faster shorter ones.
  24. Oh you and that big wooden spoon!
  25. Its become a thing to order two cakes now, one for everyone to eat and another literally for the kid to smash. When my wife was trying to explain it my brain kept rejecting the idea that humanity could have sunk to such a level
