  1. Haha Uitgevang! He removed the photos from the ad
  2. HAHAHHA I share your sentiment
  3. HA! The Nissan Trailseeker this weekend was a shining example where the new climb they added was single track, up a hill that some people were walking out. On the left there was no space to move over and if you tried right, you'd P@#$ off a hill, hitting about 15 m of rocks before stopping. I was stuck behind some guys because if you cant pass, then you're not supposed to lose your mind and be a dwis. Just sit back, save energy and blitz past as soon as it opens up a bit
  4. Cross country races makes you faster in technical stuff. Marathon races [and I know because I ride Marathon] makes you lazy, those 3 arrows are hardly technical considering the stuff you do in XCO. So my 2 cents... If you're not in A batch, series contender or recognised pro, I will let you pass as soon as it is safe. There is no way I'm going to pull off for Mr. ScreamsPass who is only a slightly faster in single track or on a descent, till we hit a climb or rock section and I drop him.
  5. Well done Scotty, you have the balls none of the haters on this thread has. While driving to work the other day [July someday] I saw this guy riding a GT Zaskar Carbon [one of those "Chrome" ones with Full XT] and he stopped at the traffic light. At first I was suspicious of the guy [not looking anything like a cyclist] in full winter attire on a quite expensive bike. I think there were 2/3 of the same model stolen in Pretoria East this year alone. Just before I wanted to say "Wow dude, nice bike. Where'd you buy it" he pulled off one of the best track-stands I've seen in a while. Something that you would see at the USN races in the track-stand competitions. I was like :"This guy is the real deal, swallowed my tongue and drove away." haha
  6. Hi Guys, 4 Guys almost mugged me in Achillies street [Olympus AH, PTA] at 17:15. I came riding up the road and the 4 guys spread out blocking the road as they approached me. I though something was off so I made a U turn, just as I turned to see they came sprinting toward me. Just managed to get away. Here is map link: http://i.imgur.com/OMwDtwc.jpg?1 Keep safe boys and girls
  7. Did you recently change your supplements? I changed from Cadence Classic energy to Pure Blast and its awesome but the pure doesnt have Soduim as part of the stuff inside so I start cramping on it just after 40km on the last 3 races. Did the Full Marathon at Hakahana on Cadence again and no cramps Those "Cramp Block" tablets are awesome for preloading a race but during a race when you cramp, nothing works like a Rennie
  8. Gonna be a tough cookie, not looking forward to the Bridge on the 75....
  9. True, but even the overall prizes only seem to be bragging rights... I guess it comes down to guys who do it for a living, and there is no way to make a living off these races...

    USN Cup Races

Hi Guys, I want to start a general discussion around some of the Gauteng based Races in the USN cup series. First off let me say this, these are great events and held at awesome venues with some exceptional single-track. It is however a bit concerning that the overall and category winners don't receive bigger prizes. The entry fees are similar to what you would pay for one of the Advendurance races, there are close to 1000 entrants, why don't they reward the winners better?
  11. After 17hrs 15mins, the girl has not taken it off yet, but I think there might be a reward at 20hrs00mins
  12. Okay, So I am not going to read all the replies to see if it has been said. I have the exact same setup as you and my chain dropped for 2 reasons. 1. My Clutch tentioning spring [coil] was bent and it needed as service after Sabie. Did it myself, just record yourself taking it apart so you can go back and see if you have a few parts left when you reasemble. 2, My rear hub needed a service. It had a bit of friction on and kept pushing my chain forward when I free. So tech downhill [or ever tar surface] with an untensioned chain = Drop Hope this helps
  13. Cycling Pick-up line #43 Hey baby- You want some lube on your cluster?
  14. More is always better... Remember, Too much lube never hurt anyone, thats what it's there for
  15. haha Nice bite on that front disc
  16. Yeah I know what you mean, on acceleration the 26er whipped me but I just kept pulling away on longer stretches with my big wheels
  17. Yeah 26" really just takes a bit more skill
  18. Wow, it seems like people are really tired of waiting for other guys in these apparent "Bottlenecks"... Well that explains a lot seeing as the everyone that moans about the bottlenecks are not seeded in A,B or C batch... HTFU and race faster, get seeded better, ENJOY the race Easy enough hey?
  19. I don't think so... have a look at this article [http://www.bikerumor...with-xtr-m9000/] as it shows the spacing for the cluster gears. Think the pull ratio will not be the same of the shifters as-well... But you never know
  20. So it seems that everyone has their own opinion surrounding the time penalties, so here is my 2 cents. If you take 2 riders that do XCO in order to get a podium finish, the guys really going for 1st place will be at a skill level where he doesn't need to take the chicken run [or B and C line]. I think the chicken runs at a place like Thaba trails are fair because if you race Elite men [like I do] you need to go over those sections 6 times, and risking a fall will make the next few times super hard if you are missing some parts or injured and fatigued. The chicken runs are supposed to take longer, but making them almost 3 times as long is stupid [referring to the Tree-house at Cascades park]. Yes XCO is about skill and endurance, and if you are skilled and fit enough, you should be able to make up the time lost on taking the chicken run, but you can't make up time if it costs you a minute PER LAP like the Tree-house example...
  21. I ride a Cannodale dualie and I lock my shocks both out when climbing or when I put down heavy power [sprinting, Tar riding, Flat hard-pack single track]. I obviously put it on full travel when going down or when climbing a very rocky single track...
  22. "How do you hold so many straws at one time?" HAHHAHAHA Well done
  23. The Raceface NW is amazeballz I bought the 34T Chainring and running it on a XT Cassette with a XT Shadow+ RD. I went full 1X10 by acquiring the Leonardi Factory Gen Lee adapter to take my cassette to a 11-42 setup. I have been using it without any issues for the last month, did an XCO thaba trails over the weekend, and training rides. Never had a chain coming off or anything
  24. I think the whole thing would be settled if everyone [Cyclist and Runner] just abides by the Keep left, Pass right thing... Think that is a rule in South Africa
