  1. Definitely true re low-speed crashing. I fell at 5kph and tore off the head/ball of my left femur. Monday coming will be 3 months since the accident. Still on crutches... Recovery will possibly be as long as 12 months. Need to learn to walk again. Also happened so quickly, the wind blew by a front-wheel from underneath me and I fell square onto a stone as big as my fist while mtb'ing. I've had many crashes over the past 25 years of riding. Some at hair raising speeds on dirt singletracks without any issues, just the odd grazing, cuts and bruises. Be safe out there, road or dirt, it only takes a second to change things for good.......
  2. Hi, Nice pics! What lens is on your 77D?
  3. Just collected my bib From Sports World. Cannot believe the value for money that this Bib offers at this price. I would highly recommend Sports World and this Bib. Received fantastic service from them, super friendly and fellow cyclists.
  4. Consider looking at the specials from ORMS. They are very helpful. I don't have drones but have bought plenty of camera equipment from them. Form what I can see is that they have better BF specials on offer. After sales service will not be a problem. Speak to Gavin from the Bellville store. https://www.ormsdirect.co.za/camera-specials/black-friday/drones
  5. An off day on the one day I decide to actually use the voucher.... Oh well... Thanks for replying!!
  6. Anyone experiencing issues with the app on iPhone? My points not showing and my two rewards I've been saving for today also missing. Online my points showing but can't find my rewards online....... Sucks!!!!

  8. Hi, Rather let the LBS do the fitment if you are unsure. The fork may have to be cut to size, new bearings fitted etc etc. if you don't have the right tools you could damage the new fork and it's just plain frustrating then...... Your LBS will more than likely fit the new fork for free. So in short, it's not that difficult, many of us do it ourselves, but it could just be frustrating the first time round if one does not know what to do exactly. Why not go and stand with them in the workshop while they do it so you know how things go together
  9. I also saw this on twitter. Visited the website. I think this is a very good idea to bring to SA. Does not look to be too expensive either.
  10. Most def LOOK S Track. Won't regret it.
  11. I have recently moved some of the spacers from above my stem to the bottom and it made a difference. I used to get "hot" spots on my back/neck, not anymore since the change. The difference handle bar height is around the 5/8mm mark. So, in my case, a small change made a big difference.
  12. Hi Kevin, Welcome to the MTB community. Don't be over hasty, make sure of exactly what you want and what you need to best perform the task with. Buy the best possible bike component wise. I was in your position 11 months ago, had no budget but bought what I could afford and could do with for the time being. 11 months later I'm on a dual sus bike specced like I wanted from the beginning, all in with kit etc around R35k. Like they say, as addictive as cocaine but twice as expensive...... Shop around and keep an eye out for the classifieds here on the hub, bargains pop up from time to time, or simply post a wanted ad in the bike section. Best WB
  13. Check out: http://bicicletta.myshopify.com for specials on Ritchey goods.
  14. CWC has a SLX crank on special for R1700 inclusive of the BB. I changed my stock crank to the SLX 3 months ago and shed about 350-400g, made a huge difference to peddling and feel. I was fortunate enough to change stem, post and bars to Ritchey before the price increases and shed another good few grams. Fitted a Reba and Novatec flow trails, fitted a fizik tundra 2. I also went 1 x 10 by fitting a narrow wide 32t blade, so shed the weight of the one shifter and front derailleur. Clocked in at around 13,5kg, weighed 11,4kg after all said options were fitted. Ditched said hard tail for a dual Anthem and still clock in at 11,7kg. Will cost you a small fortune, but I have seen and felt the difference and don't regret it one bit.
  15. I share your sentiments!! I have also noticed an increase of riders over public holidays. At the end of the day we (legal paying law abiding riders) will bear the brunt of the non paying invaders. It may be a good idea to sell permits on weekends at the entry points....? Don't know what the logistical implication will involve. And yes, like Neil said: A BIG thank you to the farm owners in the area allowing us to share your passion for cycling and providing us city dwellers with a retreat to enjoy over weekends on two wheels away from the hustle and bustle of the city. edit: Grammer
  16. I can without hesitation recommend you to Evobikes. I support them well and have only had extremely efficient and outstanding service. Janos always makes time to understand what it is what you want/need and then helps you to make an educated decision. They are one of the, if not the most competitive LBS in my area. I would go so far as to say that ill buy goods from them even if their pricing is not the best at the time, just because of the way they treat me as a client and understand what I want. In fact I have done so recently when purchasing a new helmet. They also make good on mistakes that occur, and lets be honest, mistakes do happen from time to time. Don't let this thread put you off, give them a try.
  17. Hi Mr.E, I'm no dietician nor an expert. I will share what worked for me. I clocked in at 112kgs, I'm now on 89/90kg on and off. I applied a lot of things said on this thread up till now. First, went cold turkey on any alcohol, difficult especially beer (having a surname as Biersteker does not help either). Then being a sales person traveling in and outside RSA does not help. I had to plan way better to ensure I do not eat junk food. I cut out all sweets, crisps etc etc. you get the pic. I lost a lot and hit a barrier. Then started to take Phedra cut XT 5 days on and 2 off for a while to boost the metabolism, worked like a bomb. Then I started to mtb 1-2/3 times a week. In 10 months I had lost the bulk of the weight. I'm now maintaining it for about 5 months already. Want to drop a further 5. Following the high protein and low carb diet. My 0.2c. But as said before, eat less junk more and get active.
  18. I have the exact setup and LOVING it, not feeling the need to change. I have toyed with the idea of running a 30t up front, but decided against and will investigate the option of adding a 42t on my cassette and ditching the 17t sprocket. Will allow me to keep the same ratio but will help to climb really steep sections a bit better. Just do it!!
  19. As said above, I suppose I have some or other disorder and want everything to match,Ritchey WCS Wet Black Stem, Bar and Post. The pros use it, not really doing anything for my riding....Looks cool, cost a lot.
  20. Used to use normal shimano SPD's, really bomb proof. Then I started to play the weight weenie game..... And looked at the eggbeaters. Thought it would be both light and good performer for winter. Well, after speaking to people re Eggbeaters 9 out of 10 had a negative experience re them. I then turned my attention to Look S track, 9/10 people changed to Look S track after having a lot of negatives re eggbeaters. Must say, I still love the "look" (LOL) of the eggbeaters, but you will have to REALLY convince me to change from my Look S track to something else. Really comfy, and like you I wanted a better/more solid platform for good peddling. The STracks most def provides this. Combined with a pair of S Works, shoes....... you'll be golden!!! Try Evobikes online for a good price. It works for me, but you need to get what will work for you. Best.
  21. Ouch!!! I feel your pain....Not going to be easy to spot based on the presence of these models on the epic last week. Just about every 2nd oke is riding one...Hope you guys find it.
  22. Name and shame, if he/she is innocent he will apologise and rectify. The hub is full of such cool okes and really a community of people sharing the same passion and interests. I don't know why someone will want to deliberately mess that up for him or herself. Gumtree mentality should stay on gumtree....
  23. The Juggernaut by Rungu was announced. Interesting concept. http://riderungu.com/models/juggernaut/
