  1. Get a stun gun and shock the hell out of them. Just the noise will make them run. You get one's the size of a cell phone these days, that pushes out 1800v
  2. It took me 10 weeks before the MyRace people got my payment through as my profile was corrupted (same thing happened Dec 2008) and another 2 months now and i still dont have my license. I hope i will get 4 months credit off next year's fees. This company that deals with it sounds to much like the Government departments - nobody cares about service delivery.I seems to me that the customer can go to hell, as far as they are concerned !
  3. Quality of pics are not very good - light was bad

Newspaper article from Volksblad newspaper in Bloemfontein Belowende jong fietsryer (17) doodgery2010-04-07 00:18 function openPrintWindow() { myPrintWindow = window.open('http://www.volksblad.com/printArticle.aspx?iframe&aid=3f08499f-3368-4206-8dfa-7d339235b6e8&cid=2114','myPrintWindow','toolbar=0,location=0,directories=0,status=0,menubar=0,scrollbars=1,resizable=0,width=750,height=600'); } Artikelopsies Druk artikel e-pos artikel Deel Yahoo Google Digg del.icio.us Facebook Twitter Kry Volksblad op Jou selfoon Jou Facebook-profiel Wilhelm de Swardt Johannesburg. ? Austin was erg emosioneel oor Reyneke se dood. Niks gaan my seun terugbring nie.? Adam se begrafnis sal waarskynlik Maandag in Pretoria plaasvind. - Volksblad
  5. I think Kevin Vermaak should change the format of the race. He should have the race snakes starting together using a seeding system based on MTN races, and the next day the snails start together in a race of their own over say 5 days, and about 80% of the daily original route (not more than 60-70km per day). I am sure he will fully subscribe the B race too, and the infrastructure will be in place already, reducing the running costs to organise it. What do you think?
  6. We were riding the route of a 2 day mtb race soon to be held here in Queenstown (Twizza double trouble) this morning, and had this amazing view from the highest point in the race. You climb 450m in 3km to get to this point. (some of us were pushing - they left the lungs and legs at home)
  7. Cape cycles dont keep spare cassette rings. What is the alternative to chucking it in the dustbin?
  8. Where can 1 buy the 3 smallest cassette rings for the SRAM pg 990 11-34T . I have 3x cassette where the last 3 rings are worn out. pls help
  9. my first duel was a superlight. it was ok but nothing out of the ordinary
  10. Buy the new Turner Flux on chain rxn cycles for about R14k. Is amazing bike that weight 100g more than the Spark carbon frame. Go and check out reviews on internet - great bike
  11. If i use the Shimano XTR 975 front brake caliper on the rear end of the bike, does it require a 140mm rotor? I would like to use a 140mm rotor on the rear post mount of my bike. pls advise!
  12. I have been there, had Crossmax SLR's, Fulcrum's, etc. If you are below 75kg, then i would go for the ZtR rims and American classic hubs with DT swiss revolution spokes - about 1.4kg +- R6k; The yellow stans tubeless sticky tape works extremely well. I have used it for a year now, with no problems. Just use a 50ml syrings to put slime through the valve, instead of loosening the bead of the tyre to insert slime. If you want something for about R3k, go for XT wheelset, its about 1.6kg. The bottom line is that the weight of the wheels have a major impact on your riding up the hills. Allso get a light fork.
  13. How many TdF races have you won 101SCC? He is doing more for cycling and charity than what you can ever dream of doing and that is a fact. Don't get personal.
  14. Some people are so sick. This heading make me want to vomit. Ag shame man, get a grip on yourself.. You cant always have things your way only, and if it does not happen, then you cry like a baby!! Lance is the greatest cyclist ever and will always be. Viva Lance!!!!!!!
  15. Use Racing Ralphs - we have been using it for a year now - the tubeless version seals easy and is very light; Great fast tyre
  16. slowpoke - i agree that we need to do something seriously about the current situation, but right now we have to be pro-active in our approach to cycling. The current situation is as such, that you have to take care of yourself because nobody else will do . If its a dangerous road, then you take a fat chance to ride there, trusting that nothing will happen. The laws will have to be stricter applied and motorists needs to be bombarded about the rights of cyclists too. But till then we have to be extra carefull. Cyclists will have to wear bright colours and have reflectors/lights on their bikes for the late afternoon or early morning rides. When my son rides on a narrow busy road, i always follow him in my car and the hazzards are on. I know in this case it was a totally different situation, but all i am trying to say is that we need to think ahead to survive in this country, untill everybody is educated about cyclists rights or we will have many more tragedies due to cars, taxis and trucks. Try and look at both sides of the story. This motorist is a guilty as it can be and nothing will now bring back those "murdered" cyclists. Lets rather think of how we can avoid this in the future and start campaigns countrywide like proposed about the Argus, and inform the public if the authorities neglect to do so. Lets have a system where everybody respects each others rights and know the consequences of your actions.
  17. Big H. I dont blame anybody, but this is South Africa. If you cross a robot you have to look left and right although it green. Anything can happen here. We have taxi and lorry drivers that drive through the night. You have to have eyes behind, on the side and in front to survive. We will not change the culture. If you look at the tyre marks in that picture, then you can see that the road is very narrow. I use to stay in a small town with very similar roads and only used my mtb, so that i could pull off the road when cars approached. I use to almost wet myself when vehicles came from behind because you dont always hear them, and the next moment you just feel this sucking wind passing you, within a meter or so. This old gentleman slipped up badly and 4 persons paid the price. I think there should be clearer rules about cyclists and vehicles on roads like this. It must be a win-win situation.
  18. I dont want to blame anybody but that road seems to be a no no to road cyclists. Its so narrow and even a big vehicle from behind can take you out, when another car is coming from the front, and it cant swerve to the right to avoid you. With all due respect, they should not ride on a road with no yellow line on the left anyway. I would not. I dont know the driver, but he must probably also feel bad tonight having killed innocent people.
  19. I have used all of those and the best one i have ever used and that is still on my bike is the WTB Rocket V. I have 4 other mtb buddies that also swear by this saddle. Its very comfortable on long distances, and the top model is reasonably light too. go to http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=25683 for info
  20. This seeding will only be accurate in the future i think. Many riders are unknown to us and seeded above well known riders. Its confusing to say the least. Where can one get the seeding for Saturday's race to see in what group you start?
  21. Has anybody got the Sabie halfmarathon Garmin 705 file of the route for next weekend pls? Konaman2010-02-18 16:07:17
  22. we have used stans sealant in Racing ralphs for the last year with no problems
  23. A friend of mine who has a Giant WSD Anthem thats only a year old, got a surprise when she washed her bike on Friday. The weld at the bottom of the seatpost is cracked all around where the top tube is linked. Has anybody else had this problem? I believe the Giant dealers in SA dont have a spare frame, and she is doing the Sani2c soon. Konaman2010-02-17 14:45:04
