  1. Look at the Fulcrum Red metal Zero disc wheelset - Just bought my set from CRC - same wheels that Julian Absalon ride. Hubs are so quiet you cant even hear the wheel turning, its extremely stiff and weigh about 1.5kg. Paid R5800 + 14% vat I did not get the Mavic SLR's, because of the bearing issues and high maintenance as a result. Its already UST tubeless rims http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=26433 These Fulcrum wheels turn heads!!! Konaman2009-06-08 14:05:59
  2. I have major hassles with my local General Motors dealer. I would like to get straight to GM headoffice - does anybody have a contact in PE where I can complain about an Opel car problem. They just ignore me flatout at the local garage + give me lip when i complain, and this while car is still under guarantee.
  3. Three of my MTB mates have had to send in their Fox forks lately. All are leaking oil and lost travel. Two of them are not even 4 months old. None of us do "heavy riding", just normal marathons and training. My Manitou R7, I have had for 2 and half years, and it is still working like a new fork. My son's R Sid has been working 100% for 18 months. I know of a number of other people also complaining about their Fox forks that leaks oil.

  7. Where can I get the Pta XC results from this weekend pls?
  8. These wheels are only about 3 months old. I dont think it is the bearings. The funny thing is that its only when the bike is not 100% upright. It happens when you pull on the handlebars and "rock" the bike from side to side while climbing or powering forward. The spokes cant be tensioned anymore - will tear out of the rim then. I read somewhere it could be where the spokes cross. Makes a "ting" sound
  9. I friend of mine with a brand new Mavic Crossmax SLR wheelset asked me for advice. When he ride in a straightline then the rear wheel is quit. As soon as he zig-zag up a hill or lean the bike over to the sides, then the rear wheel spokes makes a "ting" noise. Has anybody else experienced this? What is the cure? He only weighs about 75kg
  10. Does anybody know where you can buy this from in SA? I saw it on the Probikekit website
  11. My custom build Kona Hei hei supreme scandium dualie + 2.5" rear Fox RP23 shock with Manitou R7 fork of 1.27kg; Avid SL v-brakes and the rest is XTR + DT swiss 1480 wheelset, comes in at 10.6kg; (The factory version with disc brakes is 9.9kg.) I am going to upgrade soon to Disc with XTR and Fulcrum zero red metal wheelset. I guess it will be close to 11kg then.

  16. I have used both the Canon 1000D and 450D. The 1000D is better value for money as it has 95% of the 450D features, and is better priced. I own the 1000D and is very happy with it

  23. check this out - nice story on Todd Well's blog http://yotwells.typepad.com/ World Cup Numero Uno Today's race was a tough one. I had a good start, maybe 11 or 12. Made it through the first 2 laps with the top 10 right there. Halfway through the third lap I started to fade and the next few laps sucked. I was dropping like 5 places per lap and didn't think I could even make it up the steep climbs anymore. I finally started to feel good again on the 6th and 7th laps. I think I ended up around 22, not sure. There were about 5 guys within sight on the climb but I didn't have any power to bridge up to them. Big congrats to the Dart for nailing a 3rdplace and riding with the leaders for most of the race. He had a lot of pressure from the SA public and he nailed it. Susi also had a good race, right behind the Dart. The crowds here were awesome. People were cheering for me as Burry and I would have laughed if I wasn't hurting so bad. Tomorrow we're off to the airport and back to the USand A. An overnight flight to Frankfurt and then I'll be in Cali by 1pm on Monday. That's going to be a long flight. All the SApeople have been awesome. This is a great place to visit and everyone is really nice. I'm already looking forward to coming back next year and hopefully improving on my result. 25. After reading Ronelle's thread and I also pm her, I came to the conclusion that there are fantastic people in South Africa. I am involved with races in my area (Queenstown) and on Saturday we had our annual Longhill Challenge MTN race. We had a development team here consisting of 15 young black riders , from a very small town called Molteno. This is a very similar story to Ronelle's except that in this case we have 2 samaritans called Rudi de Wet and Hannes Aucamp. They are both 2 very keen mountain bikers and have organised bikes, clothing etc for these black riders, and now take them to all the races here in the Border area at their expense. The best part of the story is that one of little chaps were riding with a Bell sweep helmet ,that belonged to a person by the name of Burry Stander.( I hope it makes him faster!!) I assume Burry is also involved. There were also numerous Mongoose riders -- old shirts from Caitlin de Wet, the ladies SA halfmarathon champ from last yr. etc etc One of these chappies got a podium on Saturday in the 40km half marathon and another a 4th place - I think its brilliant that these 2 gentleman have taken these riders from nowhere and assists them with training and maintaining there bikes. Apparently they train up to 4-5 times a week and is very enthusiastic. I dont want to hijack Ronelle's thread, and therefore spoke to her about this. She suggested i start my own story. Would it not be fantastic if we that can afford bikes and attend races, do similar things in every town in SA? If you feel that you can make a difference to these very keen development team riders lives with parts or bikes. Pls mail Hannes at hospadmin@molteno-sa.co.za or tel 045-9670089 option 4 on keyb. (I noticed that some of these chappies still ride on rigid fork bikes and i think 7 speed gears.)
