  1. I just got the chris king BB. Comes with adapters for truvativ. After 4 BB's from SRAM i am sick of replacing.
  2. I use the Continental traffic, Heavy and durable. I have taken them off my bike now as my commuting bike is going to be my "other" mountain bike. Also running crossmarks back and front now (I Had a spare)
  3. My point is that the institutions with the power are doing nothing.
  4. http://www.arrivealive.co.za/pages.aspx?nc=compulshelmets There is stuff out there but you have to sift through so much garbage and answer questions about memberships.
  5. From a previous post its seems that although we all think we are right when it comes to the laws, its a bit skewed to our own interpretations. It also showed that we do like to argue and fight each other and move away from the topic at hand. I am not in the position to tell you how to ride as i am a learner myself. I know the basics, No helmet no ride, as a vehicle on the road i must obey ALL traffic laws. But to those of you out there that have taken it further and made their own rules such as "when i am on my bike you must all bow down and get off the road/track" No person is to blame for this as it seems not many people are willing to teach. There is however a chance to teach every one of us rules. Why didnt PPA/CSA place a rule booklet in the goodie bags at the Argus? (And at all races and shops?)
  6. Okay, so i posted this hectic statement . 199 hubbers online and 160 guests. only 9 hubbers stood up for what they believed in, after i got cheeky with them I still only had a few more comebacks. My point is that someone can say something with some sense and then say something unreasonable and yet 9 out of 199 people stood up. If cycling is going to go forward we need more people to stand up other wise its a waste of time. What i did is the same as cycling without a helmet yet only a few will say something. WHY? 7. are all choices and we have to live with our choices. and where did I say acceptable? First line will answer your question. Breaking the law is not a choice and is not acceptable. How many deaths this year alone have been because of a choice to drive drunk? If you are about to do wrong then its not a choice its a decision.
  8. Do you speak english?
  9. Once again, its okay for a cyclist driving to break the law but not okay for the everyday driver. So in your mind if you own a bike, you are above the traffic laws? Lets all go get pissed and knock down pedestrians, its okay, i own a bicycle officer.
  10. Dude you such a mofo...not wearing a helmet, riding three abreast, talking on your mobile etc. are all choices and we have to live with our choices. Getting creamed by a car is not your choice, and sadly more often than not there is no life left to live with those choices. So breaking the law is an acceptable choice. Thats the mindset I am talking about.
  11. I better edit this..
  12. *** timing on wishing death to cyclist - as only a week or so ago 4 people died! what he should have said is that its amazing that not more people get killed or hurt while out cycling - the way some people ride and the way some people drive. Why sugar coat it? I did more for those cyclists than most of the people in the Argus did. Truth be told I really think the law should clamp down on cyclists for a change. Those bad drivers as i pointed out are cyclists themselves.
  13. Yes i am but the truth stings doesnt it. Didnt see too many people wearing arm bands so it goes to show that few people are out therre trying to make a difference and when we say cycling is a great sport, they say hwat about the chops cycling without helmets, talking on their cells and riding abreast. If you not in any of the above categories then you have nothing to worry about. If you are then please take up another sport like bowls. that way you can show off your shiny balls to everyone.
  14. Okay, so i posted this hectic statement below. 199 hubbers online and 160 guests. only 9 hibbers stood up for what they believed in, after i got cheeky with them I still only had a few more comebacks. My point is that someone can say something with some sense and then say something unreasonable and yet 9 out of 199 people stood up. If cycling is going to go forward we need more people to stand up other wise its a waste of time. What i did is the same as cycling without a helmet yet only a few will say something. WHY? A group of people who ride their bikes call themselves cyclists and demand safety and responsible driving while they are out on their bicycles. BUT when they are not on their bicycles then its fine for everyone to drive however they want including themselves. These selfish dimwits are called roadies. On Sunday, while driving into Cape town so i could ride the awareness ride to make a statement for safer cycling in our beloved country i was over taken at high speeds with vehicles who had bicycles attached. 1 person had visible number plates and lights while the other 15 had bikes flapping on the back of their cars. During the actual event and at the end I saw many cyclists talking and cycling at the same time while on their cell phones. You cannot scream for safer cycling conditions and then break all the laws. This elitist behaviour has to stop before anyone will take notice of the true cyclists calls for a safer journey to work. So my opinion is that more cyclists need to be taken out by cars should choose their fights better and not sit on both sides of the fence when it suites them. Nobody2010-03-17 08:10:11
  15. I flew my bike with Kulula for sani. What a mistake. They MAKE you bag the bike then charge you the extra weight. When i put my bike together they had somehow bent the rotor even though it was in a hardcase box. So it was not nearly as bad as a cracked frame but only got on my bike at sani start after i had planned to get to DBN a week early and do some rides. Paid R300 for extra weight Paid R300 for rotor Paid R500 to Courier bike back (I would have paid double after i saw how the baggage was handled, broken straps etc. they must have had a bag tossing comp in the back) Lost a weeks riding before sani. I am cosidering never doing any events outside of the western cape because of our airlines. I hope you come right with your frame replacement. on a side note, people are begging for jobs and yet we continue to get bad service like this. Nobody2010-03-16 11:26:24

    Bosal Bike racks

I got me one of these and they are nice. Does anyone know if they can connect your reverse light through the tow plug? I got the cheapest deal for a towbar at supa quik i think it is at the end of montagu drive (Closest corner to century city) Bike carrier likes -Folds up and can be placed in boot or in tent without being in the way -comes with bag so when folded up is very neat -locks up pretty well -stable and quiet -bright lights (Fog and reverse lights are there) -the electrical plug has the fitting for advanced vehicles Dislikes -number plate doesnt fit. (You need to get the backing plate with rivets on all bike racks anyway) -heavier than Thule Nobody2010-03-16 11:27:22
  17. Sorry guys, just got back yesterday. Majik Forest is near Welgemoed at the end of Jip de Jager. I hear that the rides were changed to Wednesday rides to Accomodate some riders. If I get a better response for Wednesdays then i will change it but sometimes my Tokai rides are moved to Wednesday which is a better ride.
  18. We do night rides in Majik forest on out MTB's Let me know if you interested.
  19. Just got one at the Argus Expo, R2750. Folds up into a bag, can take practically any bike. Looks like good quality but time will tell. Buzz rack is close to R4k and doesnt lower to give access to boot (well not the model I saw)
  20. go to the loo?
  21. I will be off to SANI2C for 3 weeks so I wont be there. The regulars have assured me that they will be there doing the rides.
  22. I take my Zula all the way out to Somerset west to get it serviced at Williams bike shop. There are many good shops but i have found mine and will be sticking with them even though its a long trip. Have also tried other but when you start cycling and the front wheel is loose, you know you never take your bike back there. Oh the good advice is free form him too.
  23. Its all marketing hype. V-brakes work like a charm, nothing worng with a rigid fork either. I know some guys who lock out there forks when going down (relying on blow off valve). With that said I have upgraded from a sid 80 to a reba 100 (now 120) and my riding has become worse only because i now try to jump/ride over every bump instead of going around it.
