  1. Lets meet at the front of the ICC shall we? Start meeting from 17:00 and we wait till 17:15. Tubeless or puncture protection recommended as I am not sure what "obstacles" will be on the path. Oh yes, Lights and bells will help. I will be on a black felt single speed.
  2. I tried for the first time last year and got in. Was not going to do it again but it turns out this years event wasnt the real SANI with Elrina getting shot, car being ported was crashed and people sneaking extras into already filled to capacity race villages. I want to do the real Sani at least once. Spoke to many teams and they too were not going to bother doing it again. Keep your fingers crossed.
  3. This morning I stopped on top of the bridge that joins the freeway to woodstock. The cycle lane is not complete but looks very ridable. The area however is a different story. I would like to organise a group of no less than 5 riders to cycle the route starting from cbd to at least milnerton. From there we can go our own speed and split up. Lets say leave the CBD at 17:15 this Friday 13th Is anyone interested?
  4. Okay. I removed tyres from rims. Washed tyres in bath (Lots of screaming blah blah blah). Washed wheels in bath. Put tyres back on and pump pump pump pump pump pump pump NOTHING! Made a soapy solution and the wheels pumped up then went POOF. Tried again and it just wouldnt stay on. Got out the spare Hutchinson and nevegal and went up first time no sealant and no problem. Only pumped to 2 bar and they were fine. Let air out, put sealant in throuygh valves pumped up and will see tomorrow. Tyres are/were KENDA KINETICS. They were used for a while with tubes so maybe that stretched the beading? Also it could be that the rims cant take anything bigger than 2.2.
  5. I don't think there was a reaction. After the first bang I ran and checked, there was no heat. Could it be that there was a tiny bit of sealant between the tyre and rim and this caused the tyre to become slippery and the pressure chose the easiest exit?
  6. Thanks Guys. Tire/tyre, still you should get the idea. Yes mixing the sealant may have caused an issue with the back, but the front which was fine for a week? Too much pressure seems to be the common verdict. Not sure what tape i have inside, it is a tubeless rim like my XT. put in valve, put in TYRE and pump, makes some loud noises while seating and off you go.
  7. Last night I changed my back tire on my bike. The tire had never been used tubeless, although it is a tubeless Tire. There were obviously holes that needed to be sealed so I pumped it up to 3 bar so the sealant could do its magic. After not sealing totally I added some OKO to the No-Flats sealant. Later on about 30min while I was in bed I heard a huge explosion. Looked at the bike and there was the tire off the rim and a mess. Put the tire back on , pumped it to 2 bar and went back to bed, not 5 minuts and there was another bang, so i just left it. 10 minutes later, the untouched front tires exploded off the rim. I can understand that mixing the sealants may have caused the back to do something out of the ordinary but the front has been like that for over a week. Any theories? Tires: Kenda (cant remember) 2.2 Sealant: No-Flats and then some trustworthy OKO Rims: Cane Creek ZONOS Check post on page 2 for my solution.
  8. It will all depend on who you work for. I moved here and the job took all my daylight. I woke up in the morning, went to work, went home and slept. Had no money for weekends and slept every friday night. Now its a different story, company does not expect overtime and encourages cycling by offering a store room for bikes only and showers. I can leave 98% of the days at 5 on the nose. Lifestyle is what you want. You can get caught up with the crowd who has to have the labels or you can get a crowd that anything goes...but you will land up in the pool after a few brandies so wearing your best outfit and gelled hair is not reccommended. I camp alot, some places you leave the keys in the ignition so you dont lose them in the dark. I spend more time outdoors when the wind permits. I have eaten more braai meat than any doctor would reccommend. Its all about the job as that will put you in the right or wrong crowd. I met most Capetonians through cycling. Some are good, few are morons.
  9. Ummm What happens if you have paid and not been accepted yet?
  10. Ha ha, I dont own a road bike but do cycle more than most roadies. PPA is supposed to be at the forefront of cycling safety, hence their cash cow called the Argus. Anyone cycling into the CBD (I am not saying only the CBD but SS too) is at risk. The harbour is going to stop cyclists, and the freeway is too dangerous, just ask FRAIL. Tygerberg can build kilometers of trail and they a small community. PPA should have cycle lanes built between the major cities if you compare the mebership numbers. I say good to PPA for doing something, but BOO for not doing what they are supposed too which is cycling safety. I may be wrong here so please dont flame me, its just the understanding I have. I am a mamber of AMA, Tygerberg, CSA and have a Wild card so its not like I am shouting from the sidelines. SSW is where I take all my bikes to be serviced, currently have my commuting SS there having its annual lubrication.
  11. Building trails in the outback doesnt help for cycling safety in the CBD. What this does do is go on their portfolio so they look good. I want cycling lanes, let AMA do the trails.
  12. Its almost 24hrs for me
  13. www.sani2c.co.za Due to the rush of people trying to enter yesterday the system experienced triple the volume of 2010. We got about 2000 simultaneous applications that caused the system to crash. Entelect worked throughout the night to sort this problem out and it is now running smoothly and as expected. Thanks Entelect for all your hard work! Those of you who have entered correctly should receive an email confirming that you have correctly completed the entry form within 24 hours. If you don't receive this email please email Judy to follow up on your entry.
  14. But do you have an entry?
  15. Also waiting. Been waking up in the middle of the night to check my mail.

  21. Whats the difference in Travel? Will your frame void its warranty with the new travel if iots deifferent? Is the Skareb an air fork? (Positive or positive and negative) Does it have lock-out? (Remote or on top of leg)
  22. Olympic on special at sportsmans. Whatever you do, if you use Crank brother get the shoe shield other wise you will shorten your shoes lives hectically. Also gooi those studs away.
  23. But you can get 3 magic lights for half an AYUP. Most riders are using Magicshine (good for them) but i use an iBlaast
