  1. Is this a viable concept?
  2. TNT = Tubes, No Tubes Have only heard great things about them as summer tires here in the cape.
  3. It was smooth but they messed it up for the weekend. More rutted than s stellies dirt road. Yes it will foloow the bus route.
  4. They did another 100 meters plus of tar yesterday and some more brick work. I think someone lit a fire under there lazy a$$3s
  5. Where you based?
  6. It is in patches. Changes every day when they dig a new hole for a tree or plant or because they need to waste time. Busy putting up the wooden fence by the flea market and you have to hike a bike. Tarred nicely next to golf course but eventually you have to ride in the road which is very risky and the path has lamp posts not quite centered in the way. Gonna be interesting when its complete. 95% doable on a MTB with about 4 dismounts needed.

  9. Werent you in Jonkers Today? (Sunday)
  10. SilverBack is a SA product isnt it? Great service/product should always be shared with others.
  11. Please put a slap sock on that beaut!!! And if you got the bucks get the "tube skin"
  12. F-em. CRC is now my new LBS. Lets look at pedals, I would go for Shimano or crank brothers...Both ditributors implicated. Either way we bending over for a good rodgering. Who are the distributors for SRAM?
  13. You going overboard if this is a supported race but since you have brushes...bike stand. I have removed the stuff that you could leave behind or get at the race vilage Chain links Quick links Shock pump Lube Hanger Spare tyre Spare tubes (3?) Cable ties Duct tape Pocket knife Multi tool Tyre levers bombs and hand pump Puncture repair kit Gators And would add this to your kit/gear Buff sun cream riding glasses chamois cream black bin bags bike lock paper towels headlamp/torch ear plugs socks to sleep in some rope or twine to hang up your manky clothes before they go into the bin bags. cell phone charger if possible a RIDE magazine for those quiet moments.
  14. This is what mine looks like http://www.washingtonimaging.co.uk/cycling/bryans_bike/JOCWHEEL.JPG There is talk about using to much grease/lube on the wheels and that is why they clog up. I am going to wait till they are completely smooth or shifting becomes an issue (but shifting issues could come from anything) www.eunduroforkseals.com want $99 for some jockey wheels, thats nuts.
  15. The teeth are very sharp and short (worn out). I dont know if the KCNC will work on SRAM. If it does then i am on luck as I have and old set lying around.
  16. I need to replace the wheels on my X.9 rear derailer. I went into an LBS and the BBB wheels were almost R300 for the set. What are the other options out there other than OEM?
  17. Some airlines ask you to box the bike. You dont have to deflate the tires but to avoid a fight its best to just do as they ask on the website. The baggage handlers WILL throw your bike so protect it as much as possible. They managed to bend my brake rotor on a flight to Durban and this is why i will either courier my bike first or avoid races that require flying. Bubble wrap is your best option as they will charge you for the extra weight. If putting in a box, Ensure you take all the necessary tools, remove pedals, wheels, skewers. You will need to take off your handlebars as well so choose whether to take it off the stem or take the stem off the fork. Put something in the brake calipers so when the levers get pulled they dont close. I also took off my RD but not sure how necessary this is depending on your bike box. Good Luck!
  18. Lights, lights lights. I use the MTB so i can do a bit of riding on the footpaths next to the road. I bought a compression garment from Mr Price sports and use that as my base layer, then a cycling top which holds the battery for my helmet light, and then a cape storm/any wind jacket. My legs are pretty hairy so dont really feel the cold there. A buff is a winner for winter riding. I have reflector stickers on my bikes and helmet as added safety but you need FLASHING lights. Work clothes i usually take a some in if i drive and leave my towel in the shower at work. I also leave my shoes at work so i dont have to waste space in my backpack. Always carry spares, if not for yourself then a fellow cyclist. I can only offer roadies puncture kit as i dont have those tubes but tools etc have been handy.
  19. How do we PM someone?
