Oooo, I see what you did there.... Now shut up and go and do a bicycle race somewhere
  2. Hey, I sent you a WhatsApp at 02:08 this morning chickening out. I think if you are still/already awake at that hour you are entitled to a little lie in.
  3. Or just give it to someone with larger wrists. I know of a "big boned" man in your neighbourhood that will appreciate it......
  4. Unless the payment of the deposit is explicitly a suspensive condition, you have sold the bike to Buyer 1, whether he has paid or not. If I was Buyer 1 i'd be knocking on your door handing you the R8 500 and demanding my bike. Tough luck to you if you had already handed it to Buyer 2 as best you find me another one.....
  5. Now that is where you are so very wrong. The Hub operates within the jurisdiction of the South African courts, and so the SA law of contact applies. A contract is NOT established by the exchange of goods as you claim. An enforceable contract comes into existence when there is an agreement with regards the price and goods to be exchanged and the intention at that stage to be bound. Once you have this agreement, neither the buyer nor the seller can back out. If one party does so, the other can sue for due performance or damages.
  6. I have always found it ironic that the sponsor of "America's greatest race" is the company that was set up by to commercialise EPO and that the listing of the company was done by Thom Weissel who also owned the US Postal team.... Purely coincidental of course
  7. Congratulations on winning the cricket World Cup. Now please go and join a cycling forum over there,
  8. I missed their outrage last week and all the weeks before when their own members got attacked.
  9. What if, for some people, it not an either/or situation ? Why not do both ?
  10. There must be an Argus type problem with their system. Or they have discovered that at almost R60k per team there is no demand and so they are now frantically discounting their product.
  11. If you really wanted to save costs you could remove the derailleurs off your training bike and reduce the wear and tear on your drivetrain. You could even ride some of your preparation races like this. Oh, wait........
  12. I disagree with that part of your comment. We can all afford to run the Comrades. A pair of shoes, a qualifying race, a trip to Durban and a modest entry fee. But we don't all run it because to do so requires a serious commitment of time, efffort and discomfort. The same is of Epic. I wonder sometimes how many of the people who complain about the cost would actually DO the race even if they were given an entry.
  13. The price per Km is not the reason there are 3 Sani races and only the one Epic. The two rides are not comparable as an event. Sani is a jol and something you can do on a whim. Three easy days if you are not racing hard. I was invited on a Monday to stand in for someone and started on the Wednesday - no problem. I started my Sani training for this year last week. The Epic is in a different league and yet sells out. Whether people like it or not, KV has built the Audi R8 of mountain biking, no matter that a Golf will take twice as many people to Cape Town in the same time at a fraction of the cost, Audi has produced a vehicle that is so desirable that every one they allocate to the market was snapped up. That there are more Golfs sold is irrelevant.
  14. I suspect that his needs are entirely in line with his reality. There is a sweet spot where the needs of the consumer and the offering by the supplier coincide. If you are neither, on what basis do you condemn their meeting of minds?
  15. It is clear from these calculations that the Epic is way over priced. Completely ridiculous and out of touch with reality. Because of the rationality of markets, Kevin Vermaak will be sitting with a large number of unsold entries when they open for sale today. (Where is the sarcasm font now that I need it)
  16. Yip, it certainly is easier in in a big city. Good luck.
  17. Work hard, build a career, don't borrow for depreciating "assets", invest wisely and 60k soon enough becomes affordable.
  18. Would Hamilton have won in anything other than a Mercedes? Would Button have come last had he been in one ? Or is the difference in car so big that no driver can overcome the handicap of not being in the best car ?
  19. I hear that Jenson Button has won three Aus GPs. He must have been the best on the day each time. Today he was lapped twice. What has happened to his sporting talent, or was he doping then ? Or does F1 success have nothing to do with the driver and everything to do with the car ? If so, why was Hamilton BBC UK "sportsman of the year" last year.
  20. Have him watch the movie "Senna". As good as Rush was, it is to Senna what this eddy is to Eddy the cannibal
  21. Nope, in my opinion bad news. The fire damage has either made it dangerous for all road users or not. My cynical nature suspects that "vulnerable" cyclists are not being protected from "rockfalls" but rather that motorists are being protected from irritating cyclists. Once we accept that cyclists are so "vulnerable" that they need prohibition to protect them, we are halfway down the slippery slope that leads to banning. Cyclists will always be vulnerable on the Southern side of Chapmans because the narrow road and tight corners mean that cyclist and long busses cannot share the road without any risk. The fact that cyclists have been banned from only one side, rather than both is being sold as good news rather than what it really is. A road used by cyclists has been closed to them.
  22. Dropped back from 2B to ride with my Sister-in-law doing her first one in 6G. Had a lovely ride in just over 2 hours, safe and sound which is all that counted.
  23. Wie viel?
