    Geek funnies

I tried it out loud and it came out "an S Q L", but then again, I am an Afrikaans speaker and some say, not sane either.... But of course you are right. It is Sequel.
  3. Because all legal "banned" substances are actually valid pharmaceutical compounds that, in addition to having medicinal uses, confer an illegal benefit to athletes. The problem I think is the cost and hassle of re-testing and registration of the new composition.
  4. I had forgotten two things about Suikerbosrand. First how beautiful it is and second how unsuited it is as a come back ride after a few weeks off the bike......
  5. I am not sure that I understand your suggestion, but does the Hope Head Doctor not provide a solution ?
  6. Some say, he knows a doctor and that he was once accused of writing a book. All we know is he is called the V12man !!
  7. Scanning this, I got a real fright when I read "Prostate issues" and "regular self tests" in the same sentence, before reading the rest. I was concerned about the shoulder injuries I'd get contorting myself to check my prostate regularly......
  8. Not saying it happened in YdeV's case but : Google a bit more and you will find that diuretics are abused by athletes as a masking agent for performance enhancing drugs and as such have been put on the banned list. Beta blockers are abused by athletes in sports where a steady hand and regular heartbeat under pressure are required. Think competition shooting or snooker. There are few drugs on the list that have not been used by some skelm to try and get an unfair advantage.
  9. Ah yes, didn't another one of his quotes go something like "you ask me what I am on, I tell you that I am on my bike whilst you are on your couch" or words to that effect..... ps. Who says that I have NOT already achieved a sub3 Argust ? PS. OK, my only sub3 was admittedly last year but I did do a 3:03 over Ou-Kaapse some years ago
  10. I file "marginal gains" alongside "the cynics and the skeptics: 'I'm sorry for you. I'm sorry you can't dream big and I'm sorry you don't believe in miracles'"
  11. Being allergic to bee-stings and having been stung during a race, I can tell you that I only did two things after getting stung: 1) get the adrenaline out of my pocket and the needle into my leg before anaphylactic shock set in ; and 2) flag down a bakkie and get taken to the closest medical facility.
  12. Honestly, no. But then again it is not my job to race bicycles. What I can say is that in MY professional life, I DO ensure that my actions meet all the legal requirements expected of me as a professional. For a sportsman it should be no different.
  13. I love the Evening Harold, even if nothing is to be taken seriously. "Ask Brenda" is my favourite agony aunt column ever. http://eveningharold.com/ask-brenda/
  14. As the question posed clearly said "had the matter progressed to trial" how will KE make his case without an affidavit or testimony ?
  15. There is a bullying phenomena that started in the US and is described as a S.L.A.P.P. or Strategic Litigation Against Public Participation suit. This started where property developers started suing public interest groups or communities which raised any objection to a new development for the "cost" of the delay in the development. Faced with a billion dollar claim and the costs to defend their often reasonable objections, they of course capitulate. The claimants have no intention to go to trial, the merely wish to intimidate anybody they think may be standing in their way. This technique has been used in SA as well, amongst others IIRC, by developers in the Crocodile river valley near Blair Atholl and also by developers applying for business rights in residential areas. Lance used exactly the same thing. Threaten to sue everybody who even casts a doubt on any of his performances, reasonable or not. Sending people an Emma letter is no different.
  16. An interesting thought: If those who got Emma letters decided to stand up to the bullying and the matter progressed to trial, would KE now have been a perjurer as well as a doper ?
  17. Simple, get a TUE.
  18. Is that a medical opinion from a doctor ?
  19. I thought that I had my sarcasm font on. Apologies
  20. Most tested athlete ever....
  21. How can she call zkrige a wannabe? She has no idea of how good a cyclist he could be if HE took drugs. Ps. Who is zkrige?
  22. What do you mean by that ?
  23. Surely you mean a doc or V12 ?
  24. Lb, you speak with apparent knowledge on a number of matters relating to Pro cycling and also on v12's professional status. Can you give us your argument for the latter so we can assess the credibility of your posts on the former ?
