Thê bag is a brilliant piece of kit. It sat rock solid the whole way. Did not move an inch and was completely unnoticeable on the ride. Never got in the way. I will definitely be buying one.

I bought a set of Hopes with braided Goodrich hoses from a Hubber and haven't had a chance to shorten them. Will fix asap, but at least the brakes worked going down there. .....

Last year I ended up winning the Divernick Cotic auction after the 947. On Thursday I cycled to to my wife's office and left my bike there overnight as I was off to Cape Town. I got a call from Mrs Eddy yesterday asking whose orange Simple was parked in her office. She then told me she had never seen such a beautiful bike in her life and why had I not shown it to her before. It is not as if it is discreet, so I figured out it must have been because I have been slack and not riding enough. I took it for a two hour workout on the Spruit this morning. I loved it and I suspect that it is the jump start I needed to get back on the bike again.

I wonder whether a WK/batsman coming in at no 6 or 7 as Dane Vilas has done, has ever matched his record of conceding more byes that scoring runs in a series ?

Why, oh why must this be on the same weekend of the 94.7? Maybe next year I won't just settle for the one close to home although 94.7 is one of only 2 road races I do each year; on a SS MTB.....

I have to disagree. Training with v12man does not make it any easier racing together If anyone is in doubt what the v12 stands for, try chasing him up a hill when all you have to offer is a 50cc single.

You are right, and it always tickles me because getting dropped up the first hill is the surest way of ensuring a time slower than your potential. Your best time is in a group where you can (just) stay with the group up the hills and hang in not completely comfortably on the flats. Maybe do one pull just to prove you are not a complete freeloader.

No, but maybe there should be a sub 3 bus starting at the front, a sub 3:15 bus starting a bit further back and a sub 3:30 bus even further back. All groups go out under the control of a strong cyclist who has worked out the pacing. If someone drops off, hop onto the next bus.
