  1. Full Red Hill has been done. I did the half Red Hill to the third switchback. Wimpie did the full earlier this year. I'm also thinking about this madness again.
  2. I've been wanting to do this since the first one. I think this should be the year to do it.
  3. Only complete laps count, even if it sucks at the time, that's the rules! I did mine with a buddy, we rode with each other the whole time, but our GPS's gave slightly different readings. We decided to push on and keep going until the lowest reading was beyond 9000m just to be safe. After analyzing the graph afterwards, my buddies elevation graph was 'growing' slightly with each repeat (especially from about halfway onwards) showing slightly more climbing than there was. Hang on, I must find the picture, it'll make more sense... Two graphs attached below - mine on top and my buddies at the bottom. Notice how his low point elevation is creeping up with each lap. Both GPS's had barometric altimeters but one was a dodgy Garmin After being on the bike for around 21 hrs at that point, this decision to keep going when one device said we'd done enough wasn't met with happiness and enthusiasm It's not called a challenge for nothing!
  4. Come here to read about NZ, end up looking at reviews for TV's I don't need for half an hour....
  5. A colleague bought a Honda NC the other day and I rode it home for them. I was quite impressed by it, especially after seeing all the reviews of it being a lethargic commuter. Its got some decent mid range punch and enough gearing to be able to cruise of the freeway very comfortably. The little airbox growl when you give it some beans is also quite nice. The exhaust is VERY quiet though. Can't hear it at all. And the headlight sucks. But overall I was quite impressed.
  6. I'm confused by your comic sans. Does it mean I shouldn't take it seriously and therefore should post pictures?
  7. For reference to your points: When I broke mine I couldn't lie on my side for about three months without having a lot of pain. I also only had about 20% ROM for the first couple of weeks. My bruising was legendary though - I normally don't bruise, but my whole shoulder, chest and hip were a dark shade of purple for six weeks!
  8. But how fast can you change your belt if it snaps in a Zwift race? At that price, if it's working well you might as well get a few spares.
  9. I hope the design has been improved from the Piaggio MP3 which I tried out many years ago. I could never feel if I was falling over or just going around a corner. Zero feel or feedback. Plus it felt wider to ride between cars than a GSA1200 and more ungainly. I just don't see the point personally.
  10. Three easy solutions: Take the clip part off the chip and cable tie the chip directly to your fork leg Take the clip part off the chip and thread the chip onto a strap on your shoe Put a little cable tie around the chip on the clipAll of these have the lasting effect of completely eliminating the annoying rattle.
  11. I noticed the wood as well - it adds a really nice aesthetic to what could quite easily be a clinical metallic operation.
  12. The only thing I don't like about that model is the silver rims. I know it's only cosmetic, but it makes the bike look a bit dated (in my opinion). Slap on some black Excel's and it'll be a winner. Can't wait for the 400 version
  13. I did mine last year, right at the shoulder joint and at a funky angle. I had to get the dreaded hook plate. That thing is awful and I don't recommend it at all. I still have pain when lying on that side for a while and the joint seems to 'pop' when I'm swimming. Otherwise it's not too terrible. I was on the IDT after two and a half weeks after the plate was put in and at four weeks I went on a 260km MTB ride around the Cererberg for 14 hours. Proper trails after about six weeks. BUT, there was a lot of pain. not specifically when riding, just all the time. That hook was apparently pushing the bone down onto the rotator cuff and it was mega uncomfortable. I didn't have a choice since half of my bone was pointing skywards and the other half, who knows... I feel that my recovery was awful and very painful. Also, after the second surgery to remove the plate there was a night and day difference. A weight had literally been lifted. No more continuous pain. And I went on a 120km ride two days after the op. I'd say the recovery time after the second op was really not an issue at all and shouldn't deter you from getting the plate in the first place. Depends on the plate. if your break is in the middle of the bone and it's a flat plate then I believe it can stay in if its not bothering you. For me and the hook plate I was told that it'll do more damage than good if it's left in there after the bone has fused, and I'd definitely agree with that based on the pressure I felt from it every day.
  14. Thanks for the top guys in 2H. We had a small group of about six who pulled hard through to Smits. From there it started to break up a bit, so lots of lonely riding with no group. All in all, I enjoyed it and came 3rd in my start group. Hoping this gets my poor road seeding back on track.
  15. You've obviously not ridden in a south easter past Simonstown when it's properly on song.
  16. I just got this mail about the Kommetjie/Ou Kaapse section of the route: On Sunday 10th March 2019 Cape Town hosts the annual Cape Town Cycle Tour. Part of the route of the tour goes through the Kommetjie Road upgrade project construction zone. In order to ensure that the cyclists have a safe route through this zone a number of interventions will occur over the next few days starting on Friday. These are:- · Setting back of existing black and yellow delineators along sections of Ou Kaapseweg and Noordhoek Road. · Removal of the delineators along the middle white barrier line of Ou Kaapseweg between Kommetjie Road and Buller Louw Boulevard; · Erection of temporary pedestrian fencing panels along the abovementioned sections to ensure that cyclists do not enter the construction zone; · Placement of straw bales at specific locations. Once the last cyclists have passed through this zone the fencing panels and straw bales will be removed and the delineators replaced late on Sunday afternoon. Motorists are requested to take care through this zone and to be aware of these short term changes over this period through to Sunday. Regards, - Kommetjie Road upgrade project team
  17. This review is taking a long time to come out. Expecting a masterpiece in automotive journalism.
  18. I used to have a YZ125. That bike brought me so much joy and happiness along with plenty of long lasting physical pain Still one of my all time favourite bikes.
  19. In 2012 I was a marshal for the Argus at the end of the M3. I told myself that I wanted to do it next year, told everyone around me too and I committed. At that point I was overweight and not at all into cycling. One year later I was 30kg lighter and did my first Argus in 3h30.
  20. Don't burn yourself out now. This is tapering week after all.
  21. I live here. Have my lines waxed.
  22. If they cancel this one as well, then they're going to really struggle to sell entries next year. As it stands, it's not the sell out event it's always been in the past. Adding another nail by cancelling it isn't going to help that. If only it was one week earlier. The weather yesterday was stunning.
