  1. Made some changes to the Panda
  2. Still waiting for more pictures but did some googling on the Godio name engraved on that stem: https://www.flickr.com/photos/8379107@N03/sets/72157600517339632/with/639082091/ http://forums.roadbikereview.com/bikes-frames-forks/anyone-ever-seen-know-abou-godio-frames-224757.html
  3. Tuesday mystery night: What is this? So far we think we know Not an Arabesque as the lugs are plain and not decorated Fork is not Colnago but what make is the SA stamp from Could the frame be a normal steel Colnago repainted as an ArabesqueThe bike is not being sold but was offered by a friend who has had it for ±25 years and was given it by a friend of his so there is not motive to fake an original. Just interested to find out what I can and have asked for more pics so will post those as soon as they are available.
  4. Don't let your wives see you looking at this.
  5. Holy crap, should've bought it when it was raw and cheap
  6. Thanks Bongo, I ended up buying a Chris King from Merlin. Haven' fitted it yet but will let you know if I have any issues.
  7. I've been sick for a month so haven't had a chance to ride but my assumptions would be that the roads may very well be in a section that will be developed. If you look at the attached map, the reserve in its final state will likely be much narrower than it is now meaning that the reeds section and all the current red/yellow routes over the hill at the back will actually be in a developed area. This may also explain why only some of the route is not being maintained - when i last rode you could barely make out the full red route which lies in the non-reserve part between the river section and the dam on the left.

  9. Also explain that to enduro MTB who have rated the Jeffsy and one of the top trail bikes 2 years running: https://enduro-mtb.com/en/seven-trail-bikes-under-3000-review/ The bike is amazing.
  10. Double check the geometry. I normally ride an L so I bought one and as it turns out I can only get my saddle height by slamming the 150mm dropper as far into the bike as it can go. I could have gone with a medium in hindsight. You might find a large is ok but rather go and check the geometry chart specifics.
  11. Here is one in the classifieds too: https://www.bikehub.co.za/classifieds/294358-yt-jeffsy-29-150mm/
  12. Hey guys, trying to find the right headset for a C40 B-Stay and other than 1 NOS Record headset on ebay, this is the only other one I can find in stock anywhere. https://www.merlincycles.com/chris-king-nothreadset-1-headset-100886.html Is this the right headset fot the bike in terms of type? You'll also be glad to know I put the Shimano flamesuit to bed by getting another super Record 11 Groupset. I also made a thread for this build so I don't clutter this one: https://community.bikehub.co.za/topic/177007-colnago-c40-b-stay-build/
  13. I was thinking the same thing. Comes down to budget really, super record has spoilt me and now i don't want anything lower but Campag generally has a 30-40% premium over Shimano unless I can find someone with a clean second hand SR groupset.
  14. #flamesuiton In the not so hypothetical, hypothetical situation where you have two Colnago's - a C59 Team Edition and a C40 B Stay and only one Campagnolo Super Record groupset. Which one gets the Super Record and which one gets Shimano?
  15. Had my C59 for about 2 months, sold all spare bikes and now looking for my next project which either needs to be titanium or a nice C40. These make me giddy:
  16. Dammit, now I have to go and post a wanted ad for a C40
  17. What are your thoughts on my saddle - apparently 1/80 special edition Giro 2013 saddles ever made?
  18. What a short sighted statement... That is like telling your kid who plays and wins in second team rugby that he is a loser because he didn't make the first team. The entire concept of seeding is aimed at allowing people of similar ability to compete with one another. For that matter lets go on record and state that Reynard Butler didn't actually win the race because Daryl Impey was not there. How about that?
  19. Just an observation on the wheel sucking debate. I rode BL and for the first time ever I finished within 20 seconds of the group winner, in my case it was wheel suck or die and I just managed to push up the hill fast enough to stay in the group for 3xth. In a race, the peleton dictates the pace and individual teams and riders dictate what action to take and when. Surely being at the front and driving the pace in our local races is then not an obligation (although very much appreciated!)? There is nothing stopping the front guys from slowing down the pace of the race to drop in on someones wheel and then take the sprint victory for the group if that is what they are after? Don't get me wrong here, I really appreciate the pace held by the lead guys on Sunday and would be stoked if you did it again but if position across the line is important then just change tactics at the end and make sure the wheel suckers don't have an easy opportunity to sprint past. Dude, if you managed to put 3 minutes into a group breaking away 12km from the end then kudo's to you! To me, cycling is about enjoyment and no matter what anyone says, humans like to compete - whether in elites or in ZL! Racing is fun at any level as long as those being raced against are of a similar ability.
  20. Finished in 2:27:03 average 39.99 on racetec - now if only we rounded up. Was a nice race in BL
  21. Let's not forget the Titanium one too.
  22. Quick question: For the Colnago C59 I have seen two variations of the team edition (12BK I think). One is raw matte carbon and the other seems to have a clear coat (per the images of the Europcar bike below. Would the clearcoat have been a custom addition or did Colnago supply the option? Just asking because I note that the white paint on the non-clearcoat one holds dirt quite readily.
  23. Been waiting for 22 years to post this, ever since getting my first Peugeot road bike in 1996
  24. Modderfontein reserve is closed entirely on Mondays, probably just poor communication from the guard. Arrived at 5:55 on Sunday waited till 6:04 when the guard arrived and we were all given access with no worries. Trail maintenance is a bit of a different story though. The more frequently used green and orange sections seem to be ok but when I hit the far red singletrack up and down the hill at the back it started to feel like I was Edmund Hillary exploring unchartered territory - those tracks have not seen a cutter in a while.
