  1. Don't use the hammer on anything other than the Shimano headset
  2. I'm going to build her up with my spare record 10s as is so I can have a few rides to properly check sizing. If I struggle we'll talk .
  3. She'll need to be stripped down before we can dress her up... But what dress to buy - period correct piu colour schemes? Zabel blue, Saronni Red or ... a Mapei Master to go with my '96 Mapei team shirt?
  4. Seems my new Master has a bit of a sordid past, she's been with just about every Colnago perv on the hub
  5. I wasn't first in line but the size excluded the earlier buyers, TT is 5mm longer than my 54s so I'm sure I can work with this (don't have to do Gran Fondo's on this one). Here it is with my Eurus's and saddle at my height.
  6. You mean this old thing?
  7. I need to be included in the inner circle of how to find unicorn bikes!
  8. I may have bought something new...
  9. Bike looks bigger than him!
  10. Agreed, but maybe watching it gave MVDP the belief he needed to warp Only explanation for what happened in the race today.
  11. Having just watched "how to train your dragon 3" with my kids, MVDP reminds me of the night-fury just after he learns how to instantly warp 300m in front to a different spot without being seen... Watch it, you'll agree
  12. What a sprint! I'd fire Fuglsang and Alaphilippe for incapacity due to poor work performance though...
  13. Watching on DSTV now with 2.5km to go and I still can't undertand how Van Der Poel won. The commentators comments are quite funny with this context though.
  14. If their website is to be believed: "(Rigid forks and hard tails will be fine, little to no corrugation roads)".
  15. Just entered, ridden 185km on road bike to Sun City before, this should be a lot more fun (and safe) not having to dodge traffic the whole way.
  16. Running is prohibited - I have the rules from the gate on my desk now. I'm not sure why though because hiking is allowed.
  17. Imagine... If we could turn Suikerbosrand into a multi-purpose outdoor activity venue that included mountain bike trails, enduro lines and dh lines with a pump track in the parking lot next to the farm museum. The venue is perfect, 35 from Edenvale, accessible, under used for other purposes, great tar for road cycling and uphill transfers and so many options for trails to head back to the parking area from on top of the mountains. This would have very little impact on the greater reserve biosphere in terms of space needed but a massive impact on usage and economic viability if managed and marketed properly.
  18. Rode Sunday: Whole place was clean, rubbish in available bins, bathrooms clean (bar the big ass cricket thing sitting in there staring at me). Roads were better than any of the east rand roads I ride; I think there was literally 1 pothole and two points where they cut across the road otherwise all more than acceptable. New favourite riding venue, NO CARS
  19. Exploring Suikerbosrand with the C40.
  20. Does this mean you have to now ride flats when the frame arrives
  21. I rode Modder on Saturday after the changes and I don't know what the management/maintenance theory is. The red singletrack is now a great ride (bar one section where for some reason ±200m of track was left uncut in the middle of nowhere) and they have re-incorporated one of the dual slalom lanes as a downhill run on the red route - great work. But... while they have focused on getting the red and black routes going again, it seems they have forgotten to maintain the green and yellow routes and sections of these are really overgrown (this coming from a rider who doesn't think all trails should be manicured and likes the "mountain" part of biking). On one section of the river run I basically rode blind as you couldn't see the ground anymore. Looking at this as a business: We are paying for a service and thus expect a certain level of maintenance. If not enough people are paying for the service to make it financially viable to maintain the whole network then maybe it's time to consider alternatives to better the experience for the rider. One option could be to regularly mark un-maintained trails to give the choice to the rider or create a formal rotation strategy so that you maintain ±35km of trails instead of 45km and change it up every month. Get the community involved in helping, there is so much potential for great trails in the reserve but after all the hype when you took over management - there is literally 1 (one) berm.Maybe there is investment uncertainty due to the level of surrounding development and I am assuming some of the trail land might get developed, if this is the case then the trails that won't be affected should be earmarked for maintenance and improvement.
  22. That budget is enough for a decent 2012-2014 Super Record Titanium 11 speed groupset.
