  1. No one likes the guy who turns in the drug dealer..... just saying..
  2. Crickets seem to be a Western Cape problem this summer. Kudos to the Epic organisers as well. First time in a long time I bothered to follow the event. Save for a few hiccups it lived up to the standard and the racing was pretty good this year too.
  3. Find a shoemaker. Most of the them have the tools and skills to recover. I've used the Barksole in Plumstead to recover an Arione. Its still going strong
  4. L indicates its a Black shoe. W would mean Black and White S would mena Black and Silver. E could be that is it from the European Distribution and sized accordingly. As far as I know, all the M088 range is a wide toe box shoe
  5. WTF 11 pages already! Hectic people, no wonder our legal systems does not work very well. Everybody overthinking. stick to the facts> Man buys bike he thinks is the real thing Man discovers bike is not, but is rather a fake article. Man is peeved at being taken for a ride Man warns others. Next step is for man to take it further with the autorities yet all the high powered advocates on the Hubs need to seek clarity on the case Jirre April fools is 24 hours too long
  6. Yeah Maybe oneday when he writes an autobiography called "Life as the super domestique" we'l get the uncensored version of partnering with Sauser.... what an interesting read that will be. toys throw cots out
  7. The Consumer Protection Act says that you are entitled to full compensation if you can prove you were sold defective or counterfeit goods.
  8. Will make for interesting ride reports: Example: this morning the ******* **** and I went for breakfast. Then I wanted to **** him just because I looked at him. **** **** man i have to face another day with this ****, I want to **** him so much Peace love and light, from camp Epic staaldraad
  9. struggling to find an investor....
  10. Thats not that many
  11. There is an ignore function.
  12. YEha i recall pulling into Riversdale 2005, end of day 3 and had to go and find lunch. None was provided. Cleaned my bike, lubed the chain, showered and rode into town to order pizza. Then you could sleep. wake up 6pm for for dinner and thereafter head off in the dark to find your physio parked in a camp site somewhere. walk back to race village, find tent and go sleep. Wake up at 5 , **** shower shave, head off to breakfast, PACK YORU OWN BAG, carry the heavy MF to the truck yourself (and we had basically a whole groupset in that numbered race bag sans rims and new frame (they couldn't fit, i tried). Its a lot easier from many perspectives but also more enjoyable I guess since theres more real mountainbiking. THe 2008 edition was the biggest OF Epic of them all. High temps the first few days meant the medics tent was low on saline drips and urine test kits. All the stages were long and lots of climbing everyday. I think it 966km over the 9 days and nearly 19,000m climbing in total Food was mostly awful so a lot of riders were getting loved one to bring them dinner. From 2009 all of this improved leaps and bounds
  13. I don't think the commissaires had any choice. Their role is impartiality to the letter of the rules. They were given a protest and evidence to support the protest. They acted. They even suggest FedGroup approach Scott FR and ask them to drop the protest so that racing can continue. I don't know if a dialogue happened but it appears that it did not. So it boils down to a matter between the riders and that deprived us, the fans, of a great race. Where there is money there will always be drama. I can't fault the Epic organisers or the UCI commissaires, they did what they had to do under the rules of the event. Like I said, personally i would have gone up to Evans and asked him to take a self impossed penalty turn (aka Yachting) on the next bit of single track and let bygones be bygones. If he chose not to then protest the move. The fact that a pending protest is hanging over your head is unsettling enough. What is certain is that the rights and wrongs will not be solved on theHubSA.co.za
  14. Coming soon to a thread Reader: Why 27.5 is greater than 29
  15. for once we agree
  16. A lot of manufactures will be doing about turns on wheel size in 2015 and 2016 model years. 29ers are costing them big bucks in the number of parts inventory they need. The big wheelers need wider hubs, which they're trying to introduce to the gravity crowd where bigger is better. Noe they have frame clearance issues. Gearing for 26, 650b and 29 are different too so the chain ring issue mean much more variety in gearing. SRAM got away from it by going 1x11. It meant only front chainring size variety/ Shimano has 40x26 for 29er, 42x28 and 44x29!! front cranks options. Cannondale wanted to go 27.5/650B a few years back but the Dorel deal meant they had to start following the market trends and not trying the lead. Only the last model year they started getting back into the innovation game. They also using dampers from X-fusion, SRAM RockShox and Fox. All these parts means a huge outlat in capitol that comes back more slowly because the market has too much choice. They will have to move back to standardisation and on the wheel size the 650b seems to be most favoured for the small and medium size bikes which are by far the volume sellers.
  17. Vettel third today, clearly down on power on the straights compared to the merc powered cars. New turbo in May should sort that out
  18. Yes, SRAM and Shimano are represented. They will try to fix what they can. Both are at the finish as well. Not sure if amateur teams can still have a service package with a bike shop just outside race village anylonger. The ACE organisers really tried to squeeze blood out of the stone from 2009 onwards when the plot rental went up and the following year it was astronomical to the point where some were operating out of a van in a side road or at camp sites in the towns the race passed through. Not sure what the race village set up is like now. it may be better or you may have to use the race village tech zone. Pricing on components there is likely to be 10-15% ABOVE retail since I'm sure the tech zone has to pay to be there as well.
  19. You can carry your own spares or you can buy spare parts from the distributors or retailers in the tech zone or after the stage.
  20. 650b leading on the road. 29'ers struggling
  21. Generally that happens because the current market players make life hell for new comers.... Hence i feel feathers importing stuff. I want choice and if the local distributors don't like it then tuff. I can import bike cheaper from elsewhere and service it myself. Fortunately we have a great local brand in Morewood
  22. This claim is useless without pictures
  23. Flexing seat stays are not new so not sure why its "interesting". Fisher's had them, Yeti's had them. All worked more than just fine. I reckon those Canyons ride just fine too. At the moment its the bets bike at the race
  24. The organisers don't a give a **** because Sussie is the goose that lays the golden eggs
