  1. Ok Mods sawrry for the bad language... Ya in Stellenbosch. In Cape Town the main number plates to watch out for are CL = Stellenbosch CFR = KuilsRivier/Brackenfell CFM= Somerset West CY = Bellville/Durbanville (why do I drive so K*K? Come to Bellville and CY.) These okes should be issued a passport to be west of the R300 The owners of plates starting with those suffixes are the worst drivers you will find outside of GP. CA owners are not far behind though....
  2. I think the point is to focus the energy in the direction where a bigger impact is felt on society. prosecuting two cyclist for losing their tempers vs prosecuting poor driving that results in personal injury.... I think theres a heavy weighting toward one side here.
  3. You should have seen how many massage girls enroute the Argust were tweeeting and blogging while "massaging". Hence I''m glad didn't blog. I think the only way to effectively cure society from the ills of mobile phones is too make the cars into proper faraday cages. No signal, no blogging
  4. Nothing on the Heart Fm this morning either. Just goes to show, motorists get a better deal and poor driving wins. I think these MC2 guys are looking more like hero's amandla
  5. Actually they're not. One incident is an overreaction that many cyclists have every daybut don;t get cuaght on camera. The other is a situation that results in many cyclists either ending up in hospital or dying on roads in South Africa because our motorists have ******* clue as to the rules of the road. And believe me many of these ***** ride bicycles too
  6. One had severe head injuries and cranial trauma. In an induced coma. Does it sound familiar to a certain star Ex F1 drivers plight?
  7. Renault confirmed a software fault on Vettel's car caused the ICE to ERS to malfunction. This resulted in a drive-ability issue on the car. When he put his foot down he was never sure if he was getting full power only a part thereof. They will require most of the evening to correct the problem. For an understanding of how these complicated systems are working in 2014 I cut and paste from Formula1.com Long-time fans of Formula One racing will be familiar with the concept of a Kinetic Energy Recovery System (KERS), technology that was introduced to the sport in 2009 and was a mainstay from 2011. KERS worked by harnessing waste energy created under braking and transforming it into electrical energy, providing an additional 60kW (approximately 80bhp) of power for up to 6.67 seconds per lap. The Energy Recovery Systems (ERS) which form an integral part of an F1 car’s power unit from 2014 take the concept of KERS to another level, combining twice the power with a performance effect around ten times greater. ERS comprise two energy recovery systems (Motor Generator Unit - Kinetic [MGU-K] and Motor Generator Unit - Heat [MGU-H]), plus an Energy Store (ES) and control electronics. The motor generator units convert mechanical and heat energy to electrical energy and vice versa. MGU-K works like an uprated version of KERS, converting kinetic energy generated under braking into electricity (rather than it escaping as heat). It also acts as a motor under acceleration, returning up to 120kW (approximately 160bhp) power to the drivetrain from the Energy Store. MGU-H is an energy recovery system connected to the turbocharger of the engine and converts heat energy from exhaust gases into electrical energy. The energy can then be used to power the MGU-K (and thus the drivetrain) or be retained in the ES for subsequent use. Unlike the MGU-K which is limited to recovering 2MJ of energy per lap, the MGU-H is unlimited. MGU-H also controls the speed of the turbo, speeding it up (to prevent turbo lag) or slowing it down in place of a more traditional wastegate. A maximum of 4MJ per lap can be returned to the MGU-K and from there to the drivetrain - that’s ten times more than with 2013’s KERS. That means drivers should have an additional 160bhp or so for approximately 33 seconds per lap.
  8. Both of these that I have started and completed I ran tubeless tyres and Time ATAC or Shimano XTR pedals. All those components have proved bullet proof
  9. Whatever works for you on a one is what you should use on the other. An Engines power and torque profile is generally unchanged irrespective of the chassis its fitted to.
  10. maybe try using one before spreading drivel. I used a Thudbuster for 5 years and never hurt my knees. because of it. You are not bouncing around as you seem to suggest. Like I said, stop talking ***
  11. still no answer to a civilised question so I guess antagonism is the way forward.
  12. Cycling and aggression are becoming synonymous..
  13. Just because the Pro's don't use them doesn't make it loess of a good idea. Inexperienced riders are more likley to fall and crash and generally have not learnt how to fall properly. Watch guys like Minaar, Hannah, Smith et al, and see hwo they tuck and roll when they fall. its the same with professional rugby players, most don't wear helmets or face guards but many do. Does the few that make it ok for experienced kids at high school to not wear them. You're right it is your choice but that does not make the word "need" inappropriate
  14. Cane Creek's Thudbuster as pictured has been around since the late 90's. I have one from 2001. They are a very good product but have not been popular since dual suspension bikes started getting to reasonable weights. The Thudbuster can be set up so that there is almost no movement while pedalling but that takes time and skill. I would recommend the Thudbuster if you have a HT and don't have the cash for a dualie. There's a lot less to go wrong with a Thudbuster but they are pretty heavy but certainly lighter than other suspension seat posts
  15. How old is your lightie? Going cheapest may not be in the interests of hs safety. MX helmets are too heavy for a childs neck. You will need a LEAT Brace as well.
  16. Rock Shox Solo Air and Dual Air are proven designs that work. Fox is always tinkering and leaving the end user to be the guinea pig. Sure they keep changing the names of the same tech but fact is the stuff just works
  17. With the size of the groups there is no shortage of people with delusions of Voightism that the average speed never really drops till the groups reach Chappies. By then the Voightists have fallen away leaving those with fresh legs to cover the two climbs at higher than normal pace.
  18. Lets approach this a different way. What would like the club to say in addition to what they have stated wrt: Condemning the vicious act suspending the members involved Handing those names over to WPCA and PPA plus Cycletour trust Co-operating fully with the investigation. The club has appointed an attorney to look after its interests and protect its dvelopment riders That attorney is not representing the implicated riders. The implicated riders have to sort out their own legal counsil
  19. not stoking a fire. Its a simple question.
  20. what needs to be said in addition to what has already been said?
  21. they did indeed wear other outfits
  22. then please write up a ride report that explains how your tactics works out for you include pitchas
  23. you need to chose your finger respectfully...
  24. I tend to find that a technique of looking ahead, seeing the moving obstruction (Also known as a jogger) coming my way, plan my next move by looking over my shoulder, sticking my finger out to show oncoming traffic that I am moving right and then do as I promised. and the jogger and I pass each other with mutual admiration and a smile while the motorist to whom I indicated my intent has not had a hissy fit...
  25. I swear I know that bike but they were quite popular. A old cycling pal had one just like it and I've not seen him for a couple of years. He works for IBM. I'll direct this thread to him and enquire. Looking at his time for the ride it could very well be his bike
