  1. First we have to teach the population to order indicator lamps with their cars and not skimp on them to save R0.50 on the purchase price
  2. VPP is licensed trade mark, hence I used vpp (in lower case) because whichever you spin it they are all a virtual pivot point, including Specialized Horst link and Dave Weagles DW link.
  3. right we agree on this. agreed, the CS length needs to be kept within limits to ensure the bike is not a bus, but that does not influence the packaging of the suspension components as much since the 29 provides the designer with a larger area behind the bb to work within. I don;t think Giant limited themselves to 27.5 in order to have better geometry for their vpp suspension bu I do think it hasa lot to do with realising that there is no benefit to bigger wheels on a full susser. On Large or XL bikes where maintaining the CoG of the rider within the wheel axles is less limiting there may be an opportunity. Giant's direction is showing that the whole big wheel argument is just another sales pitch. within reason. A longer wheelbase within limits is beneficial for stability and that makes the transition for someone coming from road bikes or having never ridden a bike before, into mountain biking, a much more pleasant experience. How many newbies have given up mtb simply because they can't handle the bikes? If a bike is too long it will look funny, especially a size XL on 26" wheels
  4. Will that hex head bolt fit into the cavity where the Round Allen cap head fitted...?
  5. I've been through this exercise. An M7 is nearly impossible to find in SA. Try a Ducati dealership. They may have that size
  6. M7 will be veryhard to find
  7. weaker light = more shadow
  8. Of those on your list, the Colnago get my nod. If you're LOOKing to expand the list: http://www.lookcycle.com/en/int/route/velos/695-ipack-bike-2013-ultegra-aksium.html but take your TIME with your choice: http://www.time-sport.com/velos-montes/rxrs-ulteam_12.aspx
  9. The more you can see the better. That's my take on it
  10. Don't look into the light, look where you're going instead
  11. I rest my case!
  12. the light? oh well then the batteryspace bats will be an upgrade
  13. Interesting point of view since Extreme lights also markets they lights based on the manufacturers claims. The China copies all quote claimed performance based on input electrical power to the LED and quote the LED performance at that power. This is what all the China copiers do so how is Extreme any different? Many of the earlier generation LED's could also achieve the lumen output in excess of 1000lumen but they would have to be overdriven resulting in a lot of heat to be dissipated , significantly shortened life span and efficiency reduced to 50-60% (so run time suffers). So unless someone tests actual lumen output of these lights in the same manner and shares those results I consider all the China imports to be less than above board on performance claims
  14. Exposure use a built in Li-Ion battery pack. The pack is built using Sanyo Li-ion cells so its a high quality battery. Exposure was the first to offer an integrated solution. very nice for the evening night ride but a bit limited in run time if you're into +3 hrs rides after work or 24hr races.
  15. But thats not on all Mavic wheels. If I recall it was only the Crossmax and Ksyrium SSC SL wheels that needed the shim but not if you used the Shimano freebody for the wheel.
  16. Yeah, I may still have the original pre-production prototype I received from NightlIghtning New Zealand in 2003. Back then it was a 380Lumen LED light, the forst of its kind. Its still kicking and has seen out it 2nd battery pack already. In fact none of my Nightlightning's have failed and the overall failure rate was very low and often user induced or battery related. I still have a Lupine Edison 10 that I purchased in 2002. It still has its original battery, but I changed the bulb and switch once in that period and that was done in Germany by Lupine. AS far as these China imports are concerned, these guys are all part of a cat eat dog game. The Extreme is a copy of a Lupine light. SO as far as I am concerned if someone else is undercutting Extreme good for them. I'll stick to the original manufacturer's. Okes want to jump on cheap copy right infringed products that's your choice but I don't see the point of this thread. In fact its a joke. How can the distributor of a copied light, be bitching about another copy undercutting him? That's hypocrisy
  17. A pal and myself imported Nightlightning. Those lights were tested to the claimed lumen output. Other vendors complained on pen forums that the output was impossible because teir cheap China imports could'nt match the iBlaast. Now the China importers are complaining about other vendors doing the same thing. Love how this wheel turns....

  19. Ah ok then I know who he is. Will do, thanks
  20. I tend to grudgingly agreee
  21. I'll swing by the service centre something in the next few days to have a look, and feel of the bike components. Who is Rafeeq< i don;t know any Lefty technicians named Rafeeq. Is he ex Omnico?
  22. you will need new shifters and possibly jockey wheels in the rear derailleur cage. The 10s chain is narrower. I know on Campagnolo its not an issue to run the 9s jockey wheels. Not sure about Shimano biut I suspect changing the jockey wheels will provide a shifting accuracy and drivetrain noise benefit
  23. answer the question
  24. Why would they want the chainstays any shorter when the longer wheelbase is the attraction?
