  1. not safe on the roads due to mini taxi drivers with fake drivers licenses and not safe on the mountain due to the previously lesser spotted Skara Mink now becoming more populous.
  2. Phil Ligget is in the Murray Walker league. You cannot separate the two. David Duffield on Skysports commentary was another commentator who could keep you entertained for the full 5 hrs of a TDF stage. By comparison, most game show hosts can't even keep you entertained for 30min
  3. depends what he wants to dip the thong in...
  4. Inversive is a synonym for vituperation as I read it so its like liking like. Often happens when journo's get in a bit over their head but it could also be designed useof irony as Phil is known for his faux pas such as tautology during commentary i.e. "the cheese and diary region of France"...........er Phil, Cheese is adairy product....
  5. lets see if he can do assonance as well
  6. a smattering of tautology there old boy
  7. There is no problem with Phil. the problem is with people who listen to him and feel disappointed. Don't like his commentary then use the language option on DSTV and listen to it in French, or Spanish, Dutch, German Can't speak any of those languages? well whose fault is that?
  8. Yip Red Rubber Grease (Castrol)is th emost common. There are also products from Fuchs, Millers and Dow Corning (Molykote 822M)
  9. First we have to teach the population to order indicator lamps with their cars and not skimp on them to save R0.50 on the purchase price
  10. VPP is licensed trade mark, hence I used vpp (in lower case) because whichever you spin it they are all a virtual pivot point, including Specialized Horst link and Dave Weagles DW link.
  11. right we agree on this. agreed, the CS length needs to be kept within limits to ensure the bike is not a bus, but that does not influence the packaging of the suspension components as much since the 29 provides the designer with a larger area behind the bb to work within. I don;t think Giant limited themselves to 27.5 in order to have better geometry for their vpp suspension bu I do think it hasa lot to do with realising that there is no benefit to bigger wheels on a full susser. On Large or XL bikes where maintaining the CoG of the rider within the wheel axles is less limiting there may be an opportunity. Giant's direction is showing that the whole big wheel argument is just another sales pitch. within reason. A longer wheelbase within limits is beneficial for stability and that makes the transition for someone coming from road bikes or having never ridden a bike before, into mountain biking, a much more pleasant experience. How many newbies have given up mtb simply because they can't handle the bikes? If a bike is too long it will look funny, especially a size XL on 26" wheels
  12. Will that hex head bolt fit into the cavity where the Round Allen cap head fitted...?
  13. I've been through this exercise. An M7 is nearly impossible to find in SA. Try a Ducati dealership. They may have that size
  14. any good quality 15W 40, 10W40 or 5W 40 for the fork lubrication. Just be careful with selecting the hydraulic oil for the damping. The viscosity at 40DegreesC and at 100C is very important
  15. M7 will be veryhard to find
  16. SNake Oil 20W 50 probably
  17. weaker light = more shadow
  18. Of those on your list, the Colnago get my nod. If you're LOOKing to expand the list: http://www.lookcycle.com/en/int/route/velos/695-ipack-bike-2013-ultegra-aksium.html but take your TIME with your choice: http://www.time-sport.com/velos-montes/rxrs-ulteam_12.aspx
  19. The more you can see the better. That's my take on it
  20. I respectfully disagree. 0W30 may be too thin but its good enough for a tubro charged engine with overhead cams shafts? I think the pressure on a cam lobe far exceeds that which a cyclist can exert on the drive train of their bike (drug free) it would certainly marry the best of two worlds Yip, I'll 2nd that.
  21. Don't look into the light, look where you're going instead
  22. I rest my case!
  23. the light? oh well then the batteryspace bats will be an upgrade
  24. Interesting point of view since Extreme lights also markets they lights based on the manufacturers claims. The China copies all quote claimed performance based on input electrical power to the LED and quote the LED performance at that power. This is what all the China copiers do so how is Extreme any different? Many of the earlier generation LED's could also achieve the lumen output in excess of 1000lumen but they would have to be overdriven resulting in a lot of heat to be dissipated , significantly shortened life span and efficiency reduced to 50-60% (so run time suffers). So unless someone tests actual lumen output of these lights in the same manner and shares those results I consider all the China imports to be less than above board on performance claims
