  1. How tall are you???
  2. I like the base bar on your tri bike But I see there's still space for a fixie
  3. Anyone for an Eddy Merckx STEEL frameset?
  4. Leave the darn thing alone!!!! Only remove a chain once it's worn - you're causing more cactus with removing/installing on the links, creating weak points that might just decide to leave this live when you're in a bunch sprint to the line
  5. So I recieved my PT cable cutter yesterday (wow that was quick!!) In all honesty, I thing some of the remarks like giant hands needed, poor clip etc. is a bit misleading I found the tool to work perfectly for the cables and housing I did last night. The only thing I can obviously not check is how long it will last. But with all our LBS' in town using them, I'm sure I'll be a happy camper for years. A+ from me
  6. Darn why didn't you post this thread a week ago I'm waiting for my PT cable cutter to arrive from the states. At the price you pay for those thingies, (ok a bit cheaper from there) I really hope it performs better than suggested here
  7. dollar, gearing for track racing is normally around 90 gear inches i.e. 27xblade T/ cog T 27x50/15=90 or 27x48/14=92.5 onetime, you don't maybe want to let that disc go on the cheap?
  8. I found the prob: I took it to Wayne Phiffer Cycles. He could not find any problem. The hanger is as strait as a strate stripe (as I expected it to be streight). So he couldn't find anything. So both of us looked and we looked, and we looked, and we looked...and wolla FOUND IT!!!!!! Could it be, well it was the only thing that we could find, and a 30km ride yesterday confirmed it: My 39T blade was installed wrong way around after I stripped and rebuilt the bike. So when in PE visit Wayne Phiffer Cycles as your pitstop and remember to fit your chainring the correct way, it makes a difference.
  9. Was Balan the best rider in the world???
  10. I would love to have a set of Delta's myself, but...<?: prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> Isn't it ironic, people will pay up to $1000 for a set of beautiful Delta's which never was good calipers and they are heavy, and for that very reason they were discontinued. Bizarre
  11. Well done TB. I must admit, I wouldn't feel the need to restore her to the original look. Don't feel guilty changing the look a bit. She has seen plenty of abuse and will cherish any new dress you give her (incl the parts kit)
  12. TB, how much for that headset?
  13. Wheels are great! Cannot complain...I am not a pro but these wheels are more than good/stiff enough for what my racing capabilities is. Now, now don't be so modest. There's nothing wrong with your capabilities Nice bike. One of my team mates is also changing his 08 ISP Giant for the new zitsy zitsy Spez someting 3 team frameset, just because
  14. There is always a flaw in a masterpiece In this case Wayndude it is the saddle and the pedals They should shop it for a San Marco Regal and Record toeclips Otherwise perfect!!!
  15. Give the guy some time Wayne is very busy currently, so I think Mr Jam is still waiting for his bike
  16. 6. Using a torch I checked the groove every once in a while. The fist groove I made did not go through completely (I found out afterwards). I used a piece of wire with a hook to establish how deep the post was in and made a mark on the blade. You can't feel the bottom of the post with the blade. I tried "rolling" up the tube wall without avail- it is way too thick to do this with pliers....so I started sawing a second groove. 7. Once the second groove was completely through (I made sure this time), I started working the section of tube with the vise grip, pliers and eventually a hammer. 8. I noticed the post moved ever so slightly with when hitting with the hamme, and I knew there was light!!! 9. Vise Grip and working the post free and this was what it looked like... You can see the amount of corrosion which looks like white powder - no Coke or Q20 will penetrate that deep. Time to remove the Post: approx 2-3 hours Time to make the decission to cut the post: 6 months Moral of the story: Loosen and move your seatpost every once in a while slowtwitch2009-09-19 02:46:50
  17. We have gone throught the debate about how to get a stuck seatpost from the frame in previous threads. Here is my story: Alu Seatpost is stuck in alu frame to the extent that Vise Grip/ hammer doesn't move it. The bike is only 1 year old!!!! Tried Q20 Tried removing the BB and pooring into the seattube Coke I did not try boiling water - I heard it worked successfully on Alu/Carbon combo's due to differensial heat expansion rates Firstly I cut the post above the color with some of the post sticking out...EISH THIS BETTER WORK, OR I'LL HAVE TOSS THE FRAME Using a blade I started the process
  18. Why not? I think it's 42/52 so maybe not the best combenation, but it will give a good idea of the oval concept
  19. tribarwarrior, I'v got a cheap set of rings for you to first try before you invest in a expensive set. Comes of the old Shimano Biopace cranks PM me
  20. I see Lance Armstrong's old Eddy Merckx from his World Champs days is on Ebay - BuyitNow option is $15k!!!
  21. Nice fork How's the guy holding the bike, the (ex) owner?
  22. As a last resort - weld on a lekker long round bar and then wind the frog. but it is alu welding so it might be a bit iffy other option is drill in 2 holes for a "fork" to fit the 2 holes. then wind the frog i.e. use distructive methods to get the darn thing out
