  1. Kino Can you swim, as in proper stroke? If so no need for coach. If not just get some stroke correction classes. Swim coaches don't know how to train IM swimmers period!!! What you're trying to do is gain the aerobic capasity to finish/ race a 9-12hour race not compete in a 1500m open water event. Doing the interval training they do is not optimal time spent for IM About IM trianing in general: The best document I've read (and I did a hech of a lot of research), is Mark Alan's article on using a heart rate monitor for training - the basics are what will make you a fast athlete not special training plans or equipment!!!!   3. train on your MTB so long and don't be impatient. I'm sure you'll be able to find a high end carbon frame XL, DA/ Record groupo and some training wheels for R19k if you're patient Here's how I see it: something like a Scott CR1: R6000-R8000 in mint cond DA/ Record: R6500-R7500 in mint cond Training wheels: R1-R1.5k saddle, bars, pedals etc: R2-2.5k top end stuff second hand or As intern said buy a complete kick ass setup for R19k
  4. The reason for the more compact triangle is to give a stiffer rear end with shorter seatstays. Yes the seatube angle is steaper aswell, but it is mainly to stiffen the rear end of the bike. Also with a TT/ Tri position, your weight is more over the BB so to stiffen the back does not feel so uncomfortable as with a road setup

So the issue is more about the length over which the wear is measured rather than the issue as stipulated in the document of roller wear measurement (and why does the doc refer to 2009 and on only?) But what sort of error are we talking about then. are you implying that when a Park tool indicates 1%, the reality is only .67% and you can still get a thrid of the mileage more before changing chains?
  12. ok so I've read the article stating that chain measuring tools are TOO CONSERVATIVE due to the fact that they include the wear of rollers (which does not add to chain length wear) But as I understand it as shown in this pic, we're talking about an error of only one roller's wear not so? Therefore the error of these tools are minimal, and surely not too conservative

The old road TT and track pursuit/ TT bikes often had a smaller front wheel to lower the setup and aero position aswell to get the rider closer to the front rider in team persuit/TT for aero advantage. Popular was 27inch rear wheel and 26inch front wheel and fork. UCI ruled this setup out later so now both wheels need to be same size for road and track events

  18. Clinchers for training Tubbies for racing Ironman everyone (contenders) race tubbies and they do it by having a spare tubbie on board and riding with sealant in the race wheels. It's quicker to change than clinchers and most of the time the bit of sealant you have in the existing tubbie is sufficient to seal the leak - even quicker to solve a puncture that way.
