  1. Apart from yellowsaddle,is anybody else doing it?maybe around the pta area
  2. Dont forget getting small bits like cable ends and ferrules..i agree with mampara a stand makes things much easier..
  3. When last was he here?
  4. Most races offer shorter distances, but if you see the cut of time given,it is manageable with basic training.and that sense of achievment would be very motivating..isnt rc6000 the gti?but then you get the rc3000carbon
  5. Or a trek 69er,best of both..
  6. That should be fine, losing your balance while clipped in and on one wheel could be painfull..Once you get the height and balancing right,it can be pretty fun/usefull,and looks cool too!
  7. Depending on the kind of pedals, try practising with ordinary takkies first,i had a hard fall initialy and saw others fall worse..Remember,your front wheel is usually lower than it feels, and feathering the rear brake will bring u down if u went past the balancing point
  8. I agree with you, unless you on an mtb,the bumps can get annoying..The decision to put extra bumps was probably made due to reckless cage drivers, may be some one can give a better explanation?
  9. Use mineral oil specific for brake or hydraulic systems, there are quite a few substitutes if you search, just be careful about the additives, you dont want to stuff up your seals..if you find the right clutch fluid, double check the viscosity,if its too thick, you may have a heavy and slow feeling lever Bushmaster2009-10-19 13:42:57
  10. Sounds interesting,time for a visit..
  11. If its the black 07 model wheeler frame you talking about,i would double check,i remember many guys said it was flexing alot, the 08 red/white is a huge improvement
  12. BBB make both organic and metal type, gatorbrake make the organic, and alligator make three kinds, organic, semi metallic and full metallic
  13. Im sure some one can give average figures, but yes it is more taxing on an mtb..maintanance plays a huge role here, especially when you go offroad. As far as tyres go,it depends on the profile, tread design and compound,u may see the tyre starting to wear "square" with excessive road use.
  14. Apolagies,i should have worded that better..I just mentioned that because i see many guys with race specific bikes doing that, and yes guys often build bikes from scratch, not only as spare /training bikes but race day bikes as well..
  15. Keep it unpunctured, they leak relatively fast depending on the make due to the pressure..or keep it separate and put it in the pump when needed
  16. Go for it!many guys build training or spare bikes this way, thats why many bike shops are more than willing to sell and some times give old and 2nd hand bits..u got nothing to loose, take your time,a great way to experience and learn
  17. In most cases its cheaper to buy a built up bike then build up one.Your best option is to get qoutations, and see what components/wheels etc. you getting, then compare this to a new bike price. Then decide from value for money and spec. Before selling the frame, see if you can trade it in on a bike, shops sometimes do accept this.
  18. Beford changing blades gearing etc,its better to ride with others, prefarably people stronger than you are.Dont start with the real fast guys, but build upwards as you go along
  19. Having ridden standard and compact,i found a noticable difference on hills with compact..and yes,big blades for compact are harder to get, make sure the b.c.d. is correct Bushmaster2009-09-27 10:43:44
  20. Hi there,by crank bearing do u mean the bottom bracket?Usually a clicking sound is sign of a worn BB,you would have to replace it or service and clean it ,depending on the type of BB and/or condition.. Bushmaster2009-09-27 10:54:31
  21. Unless the wheels have a 70kg weight limit, this seems strange.I agree, get a PROPER wheek builder to inspect them
  22. I remember meeting 2 guys who rode 60 kilos 2 race, then ride home after that..His exact words, "it wakes him up" before the event Bushmaster2009-09-19 09:31:11
  23. This came as a shock to every one, especially Raleigh owners..
  24. Thats terrible, that hill made that race unique, now it will be faster but not the same challenge..after the 5th lap, that hill looked steeper!
