yep.....changed a lot from tuesdays prediction...will probably change again (knowing CT), and we'll be back to those one tonner training ride/race conditions

My entire riding group group is out to get me.....they all said that this is their year...and going for faster times in all the races we enter. I cant let that happen........even the younger guys in the group need to learn their place

that was very very hard....... had a cramp that just wouldnt go away.....it would disappear...then when a bunch comes past and i try to accelerate to keep up....its back with a vengeance i had a solo ride from malmesbury!!....i kid u not.......60-odd km on my own with only the wind to keep me company....and the occasional bunch that comes past.....had luc pass me at around philedelphia i think........

I came back from durban last night......just before landing pilot gave weather update and he mentioned the rather "brisk" southeaster.......i cringed Then wife asked me this morning.....isnt your race on sunday? .....*me*...yes why?...she said ...go look outside but really now...as you say nazmo...whats the worst that can happen. (and we nearly managed to make it to the end on that training ride.....wind was just as bad...and that was only 8 or 9 of us at the end)

And in typical cape town fashioin....it will be dead calm come monday morning Always seems to pick up towards weekend.....im planning a easy 50km spin this afternoon...and its breezy out...but not overly so. Was no wind here in durbanville this morning

Going by the OP's original post and description....im assuming that picture was taken much later (since its further down opposite the school?) If the earlier description is accurate....that the OP was correct.....that road hes describing only has 2 lanes (with parking on the right for PnP)....and that parking is ALWAYS full...so you cant cycle there. If those guys were riding even 2 abreast in that area...theyd be taking up the entire lane

judging by how it went on the training ride....that climb up hels actually isnt too bad......mainly because your legs are quite fresh.....might be a problem though since theyre not really warmed up yet.....all in all, the climb in the beginning is not that bad it s botmaskloof and the wind that goes along with it thats going to nail a few guys.....and that climb has about 3 nasty little gradient changes along it

OK....windguru has the lower wind forecast...we'll go with that then i really hope accuweather is wrong.......

just reading this makes me think back to our training ride and i really dont want to remember that ...cause then i have to go drink to try to forget about it ........

there was a set of cosmic SLR's on sale today in the forum for 8k.....absolute bargain..it really was a 20k new wheelset....i still have the receipt for mine for 22k

rad....looks good those on the bike are SLR's (the carbon spoke jobbies....they're lighter too....and more $$$...these are the ones i ride too) the evobikes ones are the normal SL's

Im biased towards the mavics.....simply because i ride them..... but then again......will have had them for 3 years come december. In that time.....no buckles (including hitting many potholes).......and they just keep going, roll as good as the day i got them (no bearing issues either). Ive thought about sending them for a service or something......but they're not showing any issues...

i didnt feel too bad back at the parking lot......im starting to feel it now. At one stage i spoke to berry.....we were doing 9kmh.....downhill!

Just use em for training and racing Im Probably one of the few people who does the above.....(have a set of carbon spoke cosmic carbone SLR's)...yes i paid a lot for them , but whats the point of only riding them once or twice a year.....i prefer to see just where my money went Soooo...i train on them and race on them.....if they break...too bad, least i got good use out of it (imagine they're stuffed up in a race...and they've only actually been used 4-5 times) I must say though....in the 2 years ive had them......theyve never gone out of true, had bearing problems .....nothing. And ive hit some bad potholes with them already (enough to puncture/damage the tires). Just check them over and clean them up once a week....and they look good as ever

wind.....i dont mind, rain...i do, but as long as its not continuous, and i can dry out later...then its all good and....come race day, you have to accept the conditions you get
