  1. yep.....was originally setup for a sram crank...hence the 2 different size BB bearings. We had to remove the one and put in another shimano crank bearing.....beware if you need these things, most cyclelabs (the trek stockists) dont have.
  2. OK...so got the bike back from CWC this evening....after driving around the ENTIRE day looking for a press fir shimano bearing that will fit it (its trek specific)...NO-ONE has it...not bearing man/bearings international etc etc. A big thank you to cycle lab westlake where we finally found one (after going to various cycle chops/cyclelabs in CT) Bike had a bearing setup for sram (2 different size bearings)...and with the change to shimano it needed the shimano version......gave me headaches the entire day. The standard press fit bearings are 0.5mm too small...it creaks when you ride and the CWC mechanic guys werent happy.......had to go find these damn things Turned out well in the end though http://i47.tinypic.com/2u46nia.jpg trek madone 6.9ssl dura ace 9000 groupset mavic cosmic SLR wheelset ITM k-sword bars and stem selle italia kit carbonio flow saddle look keo blade titanium pedals now if i can just convince cyclelab to get me the duotrap sensor that i asked for about 3 weeks ago and that they told me would take 2 days to get there!!
  3. Nice.......i just fetched this from CWChttp://i47.tinypic.com/j8llz8.jpgwill be going on this....that i bought on the hub 2 weeks agohttp://i47.tinypic.com/2akadxt.jpgwas going to go for DI2 9070.....but only out in february 2013......i'll probably swap over later in next year (or just sell off front/rear derailleurs and levers...then buy the di versions) wheels are my cosmic carbone SLR's ....ITM ksword bar and stem......
  4. will be very nice i agree.....was thinking maybe even DI2 soon (i saw dura ace 11 speed is out and its going to be a decision between that and the DI).......but will be my existing red groupset for now
  5. just received a box with this inside http://i48.tinypic.com/23rspdg.jpg as bought from desinginmotion in here ...... ( https://www.bikehub.co.za/classifieds/43645-trek-69-ssl-new-56cm-price-drop/ ) ...thanx chris! cant wait to get it built with sram red and my SLR cosmics
  6. After reading this thread......the idea seemed good, and it was in the back of my mind for a while https://community.bikehub.co.za/topic/120498-the-tiny-yellow-sticker-that-detects-accidents-and-alerts-your-emergency-contacts/ then came across this from a different forum ....its a motorcycling related app (free too) ....but i'm sure it could work for cyclists?....uses your phones accelerometers, and you dont have to worry about false messages since it will detect if you've moved a certain distance after a "crash" (based on whatever time period you set it for...can cancel alert manually as well).....worth a try? http://actionxl.com/~CRADAR.html
  7. One of my riding buddies fell in with that group since they're all from the same area (new bunch of riders he's now riding with) .......was the guys own fault, lost control of bike, hit pavement and went into wall. I have plenty pics........nothing wrong with him.....bikes front wheel is toast though (frame still ok) that was sunday.....on saturday, same group riding through kalk bay..... another of them goes into a parked car!!! ....breaks rear window of said car and ends up on the roof rack!!! (that guy is ok as well) sort of "first timers"....not used to bunch riding
  8. well look...they've got one thats good for balance..... personally....i'm going to wait till they come up with some new frequencies...and get the one that actually makes me ride faster .....now that i'd pay 500 bux for!!!
  9. its for my other hobby (when i'm not cycling or drinking beer)
  10. yep....shaun231 is closest (after looking at all the weights)....although strictly not complete yet...needs cages (36g) and computer changing from the deda post thats on there now to something lighter will put it just under 7kg (deda is heavy....even though its carbon...probably about 200-odd grams)
  11. ok then just a shade of 7kg... 7.048kg to be exact
  12. okeedokee here it is....just took a quick pic in the office (scuse the freezer in the background....its to keep the beers cold ..yes really) have a scale here at the office too.....couldnt get pic of readout...i'll try to get someone else to hold bike while i do that..... no cages......any further estimates? http://img18.imageshack.us/img18/7217/image101a.jpg

  14. frame is a 56cm tubes and tyres...not too sure yet...going to swing by CWC later and pick up stem is 110mm .....bar width is 42cm serfas cages (i think) most of the stuff was bought on/through the hub (frame/groupset/bars/stem/seatpost)
  15. So...after the argus i started a new build.... firstly i got all of this (also in that bunch of red boxes is a ITM Ksword bar and stem as well as a Deda carbon seatpost) http://img15.imageshack.us/img15/2740/dsc00178ai.jpg then i picked up these....time RXS ulteam titanium (scuse the bad photo...phone wasnt playing along) http://img16.imageshack.us/img16/5342/image099aa.jpg also a selle SLR carbonio flow thrown in http://img10.imageshack.us/img10/7587/image098ig.jpg then fetched these yesterday...the carbon spoked cosmic carbone SLR http://img132.imageshack.us/img132/8817/image100aa.jpg and finally...it will all be going on this....scott CR1 team (older frame...the wife even commented that i was putting all this nice new stuff on a old frame....and if that isnt reason enough to go out and buy a frame......but its plenty light, rides well....but will be changed soon enough) http://img9.imageshack.us/img9/2645/dsc00179ax.jpg final pics/weight will be posted later in work.....have to take everything in for it to be put together
  16. strictly speaking...only aluminium can be anodised...for any other metal the coating process is different (similar to chroming, and you cant do the fancy colours...i think you can do gold though, but then it wont have the same "colour effect" as anodising) I've done some anodising of small ally parts at home (its not really difficult)....12V regualted power supply...sulphuric acid, a bath to put it in and some colourant......really easy once you got the hang of it
  17. Bought from: Tokenfreak Desmondalie Speedi maillot jaune
  18. Paraffin oil.....R9.95 for a 100ml at a pharmacy..... wouldnt a better question be what weight oil to use? (not that i know much about mountain bike shocks) reason i ask....you get plenty different weight oils (we use a varied amount of silicone oils in the lab).......the weight of the oil will determine the response speed of the shock? We test viscometers with it......the speed (rebound time etc) becomes longer with heavier weights....since the thicker oil is more difficult to "pump" through the small holes..... ?
  19. _popupControl(); On a different note....... i was sitting at a pizza place in durbanville the weekend (waiting for my order)...about 7:30 the evening along come about 7 laaities (i estimate a range of about 14-18 years old) ...they must have been from one of the nearby wine farms...really scruffy looking and barefoot too (who rides clipless pedals barefoot!!!!) included in the bikes they were riding....... a scott S2 (2007 model) yellow cannondale (with red or white writing i think) a red/white trek and i couldnt make out the rest.....bikes were really covered in dust ....looked like they had seen a few dirt roads. even the wife commented that they is now ay in hell that they bought those bikes.......i tried going after them but lost them in one of the side streets (had to run to car first)
