  1. an incentive to get everyone to ride faster .........
  2. djr....they can average a good 25 to 26 on the flats (probably more if theres minimal wind)....its only the hills that really nail them (weight disadvantage......im a lightweight so use every opportunity to hammer them).....otherwise...they just keep plugging away at it....i dont know what tne distance will do to them......its about 50km more than theyre used to......so i expect a average of around 22-25
  3. Ill be there ....... I have 3 or 4 buddies who want to come along...but they fall into the sloth category (at least in my definition of whats fast)....they're probably actually average im trying to talk them out of it ....bunch of slackers
  4. besides the industrial hose.....hyflo stocks that braided hose specifically for high performane applications like custom kits for cars i think mine is 6mm diameter hose.....teflon inner, stainless overbraid......and a silicon sheath over that......i can crawl under the car and measure it if u want
  5. try hyflo.......i see they have a jhb branch they stock braided hose made by kinetic and HEL....including all the fittings if needed i bought a few meters of the stuff when i had brake lines made up for my car....youll get it in a range of colours on the outer covering as well
  6. bridge cycles has a 2012 venge frameset on their website for 17900
  7. hhmmmmm....west coast road is close by...... drive the route often on way to st helena bay if i have to go do work there.... 2hours of road...in the middle of nowhere...with plenty little gravel roads leading off it ....roads that just lead into huge tracts of bush (driven a few of them looking for 4x4 test areas already......no people/animals to be see for kilometers...i came back at 3 the mornign last week...think i saw 2 cars on the road for the whole 150km) they'd never find the body hypothetically of course....cause i dont advocate violence....so just thinking out loud here
  8. include me......

  13. doesnt stop people trying though........ but yeah......you could drink it if you REALLY wanted too......and as mentioned above, it will make you go blind and die....probabaly in that specific order. Will give you one hell of a skop first though.......and one hell of a babbelas (its 90-odd % alchohol after all)
  14. I nearly bought a bianchi (oltre)....does that count love to tag along for the ride though
  15. hellocolour.....i had a similar problem using a ITM Ksword flat bar and its oversize weired stem (has no front cap to loosen....bar has to slide through it from one side) I used a barfly mount....its plastic...so just heated it up with a heat gun to the shape i wanted......then fitted it on......if you looked at mine now, youd say it was designed for a flat bar.
  16. mila at 3 months and 7kg 6 months...and 14.2kg, and making sure we know whos chair it is never met such a destructive little beast before.......chairs, skirting boards, doors....even concrete walls and the floor tiles in our house are suffering (she has plenty of her own chew stuff....prefers causing mayhem)......recently discovered she can jump.........now she can take the stuff off the washing line

  20. Trek madone 6.9 SSL (frame is the 7 series carbon though) Dura ace 9000 ITM K sword bars/stem Look keo blade titanium pedals Selle Italia slr carbonio flow saddle Mavic cosmic carbone SLR wheels 6.8-odd kg according to replacement....somewhere between 80 and 90K built for about 50K
  21. stratus pretty much nailed it...... take note of the cutting process for carbon cloth though (its a nightmare actually.......ive never tried the masking tape trick, will remember that in future). Ive worked with that yellow/black carbon/kevlar cloth to make a few car bits.......and cutting that stuff is just as nasty

    old school tops

I have my first cycling top in my cupboard at home......from 1989 when i first rode the cycle tour.....at the finish we were getting those sticky backing cloth badges. When i retired the top....it stuck all the badges onto it...so it has about 10 of those cogwheel cloth badges all over it. Its kinda cool....only problem is....its pink!! (yeah, from 1989!!). Has all the route profile climbs from the tour de france on it.......along with their names etc etc
  23. had campy.....had 2012 red....have 9000 DA (soon to be electronic 9000 DA).....wouldnt go back to any of the others.
  24. The hit-and-run driver who allegedly killed Cape Town cycling champ Dr Koos Roux 10 days ago has been arrested.Roux was killed in a hit-and-run on Bottelary Road in Brackenfell on May 12, while on an early-morning ride with his son, Kobus, a student at Stellenbosch University.Police this morning said a 51-year-old Brackenfell man had turned himself in to police shortly before 10am - after police had tracked him down.“He was on the run, lying low, but the detective work continued,” police spokes-man Andre Traut said.“The vehicle involved in the incident, a VW Polo Classic, was confiscated and will be examined. The circumstances surrounding the matter are still under investigation.”The suspect will appear in court once he has been charged, Traut said.Roux’s son said at the time: “We were hit from behind. I was in the air… then on the ground. I got up and looked at my dad, he was not moving.” They had been riding within the yellow line.Roux senior was well-known in cycling circles and sources told the Cape Argus on Wednesday that a number of people had, in the past 10 days, ensured that various leads were passed on to police investigators.Roux was a national cycling champion - having won a gold in his age-group at the SA national track champs in 2011.* The identity of the 31-year-old cyclist killed in Durbanville on Tuesday, in a collision involving a Golden Arrow Bus, was being withheld until his next-of-kin had been located, police said this on Tuesday morning.
