  1. And I was happy with ny 11 400kms, until I saw this!
  2. At least there is a 1 in there
  3. Replacement for the Santa Cruz lost in a bike jacking. Lucky to still be here!
  4. How late is the start time?
  5. Nice to turn 50. The wife gave me an “acceptable” budget. Took almost 2 months to decide what to buy. New XT crank for the Stages power meter, and the TACX Bashido trainer to join the Zwift crowd. Rotor ovals on its way for the crank!!! The Santa Cruz is smiling.
  6. Broke a carbon rim and a wrist during the York Endurance race. They replaced both rims, as the profile changed from the set I had. Must say South Industries also came to the party with a reduced price, thus lowering the 15% i had to pay in the on rims. The rims were fixed and back at home, while I still had a "backplate" on, waiting for a proper cast due to swelling. No issues with the claim!
  7. Unfortunately not. We did give it all we had. Great to see that there is still people who cares. We had a tag team going, but we could not save him.
  8. Shifting is smooth, just rode up and down the street after fitting it. Will take it for a proper ride this weekend and will then see what the "jump" feels like!
  9. Just looks weird. 11-46 Shimano GRANNY!
  10. A carbon dropper, just 35mm. Should save them family jewels.
  11. Well done boys! Hope this goes a longway to grow the brand. Enjoying my XR729!
  12. I am fortunate enough to have the Lapierre XR 729 (2014, thanks Craig) and a Santa Cruz Tallboy 2C (2015). Santie is a bit easier, because I lack the technical skills. The Lapierre is the 1x10 for training and my PB on long climbs is on Lettie. Took a while to get the setup sorted, but now I have a hard time to decide which lady to take for a ride.
  13. Thanks Hairy. He was actually well prepared. His dad is also a beancounter, so he gets a verbal exam before the time.
  14. Back to the real issue. South Africa unfortunately is becoming a joke. I am not a serious MTB’ker, trying to get my 7 to 9 hours in a week. I can just imagine how the Epic riders must feel, after all the training and prep. For most the prologue is the start of a real life challenge! What better place to start this challenge than the signature mountain in South Africa, maybe in the world. I watched the Epic everyday on Supersport, and the first day is by far the best advertising of our country! These type of “unrest” nonsense never really had an impact on me, but now that my son could not write his Accountancy test today at Tukkies (he is happy it is his birthday), it is now becoming more than a frustration. He is a second year student, working hard to try and build a future. The majority of the students’ plans are derailed by a few. Why do we allow this? It is sad that we accept to bow to a few that is making life uncomfortable, in stead of addressing the problems. I believe a lack of a few basic principles of the human nature is missing. Respect for people is no more. Just look at the way most people drive their cars, and act if they are the only living beings on earth. No respect for any rules or laws. If our policing was up to standard, violent protests will be the exception not the norm. I have witnessed a number of protests in Europe, but never see police allowing refuse bags being thrown at them. https://www.facebook.com/AfriForum-136542513044323/?fref=nf&ft[tn]=kC&ft[qid]=6253041422318381624&ft[mf_story_key]=6010357480265348720&ft[ei]=AI%4072936390f6958d4234971768106744e9&ft[fbfeed_location]=1&ft[insertion_position]=54&__md__=1 So, the Epic, a world famous race, has now also fallen the “let us destroy everything that might result in pleasure for someone else” attitude in our country. I do not think this was the right decision, but would have probably made the same call, if I were organizing the event. Even Sabie almost did not happen this weekend! Good luck, and hope that the protest is not moved the Meerendal! Getting a whisky and waiting for the bullets!
  15. He stays in the same estate as me! What do you think he will charge for a service? My daughter recons I will not be able to afford it. Me thinks she might have a valid point on this one!
  16. Will try tomorrow! Just need to stare at it for a while longer! :-)
  17. Received my XT 2x11 full group-set. Even the boxes looks FAST!!!!!
  18. Did some riding in the hills in Hoekplaats this morning. Thank you to the young man with the Cannodale I “peddled” into along the route. Thanks for showing me some new routes, did not enjoy the rocky climb, I just got up the koppie from the other side. So clad I got the SMS from the wife, and I had to turn around. SMS not that serious but good reason for the old toppie to bail!
  19. Because of the rain !
  20. Not today, but on Sunday. The hill at Zwartkops next to Snakevalley is some serious fun! Cannot see in picture, but it looks like there is a second runway coming to Zartkops Airforce Base.
