  6. Ok for the JHB people, guys are calling for a ride this evening (4January) starting at Dunkeld Shopping centre on Jan Smuts at 18.00 - Thats 6PM people. See you there. Bring your lights, this is about road safety. A headlamp/torch/candle/Light Emitting Diode/ All of the above.
  7. Info on Critical Mass movement worldwide and in SA - established events that get good support: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Critical_Mass https://www.facebook.com/groups/18066062816/ http://www.criticalmass.co.za/
  8. Lets keep it simple and encourage even armchair cyclists....we don't wanna ride the 94.7. It must be slow and fun.
  9. Critical Mass is always held on the last Friday night of the month. That makes it the 25th. Start at 19h00 at the Dunkeld shopping centre, on Jan Smuts Avenue, and ride into town then back.
  10. Someone once told me that the real reason for critical mass was to highlight road safety. In light of over 1200 road deaths this festive season and the tragic untimely death of Burry Stander, lets get every cyclist we know to ride from Dunkeld into Town. Lets close Jan Smuts Avenue, and light it up with LED lights. If you are not in JHB then organise the same protest in your nearest city..CT, Durban, Bloem. Lets make a noise on the 25th January for road and Cycle Safety.

  12. Will Ferrell is torn up over the Kirsten Stewart love affair Funniest thing I have seen in a while.
  13. Just got my hands on a Suunto Ambit - Super stoked!
  14. Poles are always an advantage........look at most long distance guys. They all carry poles. Some events stipulate that you must have them. The Black Diamonds FL Z-poles are very nice and lightweight. They pack smaller than most poles so therefore easier to stow away.
  15. To explain, most companies suggest a retail price for their product. Retailers usually base prices on that. You can sell for more or less if you choose.....
  16. How do you know if someone has done the Epic? Don't worry....they will tell you.

  18. A couple of corrections. Andrew Baxter was not a founding member of Capestorm. He also no longer works for CUM. First Ascent, Capestorm and Nathan are now falling under the holding company "Performance Brands". Holdsport owns Performance Brands, Sportsmans Warehouse etc. Sportsmans warehouse bought Capestorm Wynberg and Bryanston. I am led to believe that all other Capestorm retail shops closed yesterday.

  20. Try Drifters Sandton or Cape Quarter. They carry a huge range.
  21. Now watch your bank account fall.
  22. There are MANY positive arguments for the minimilist shoe. I have had my fivefingers for nearly 3 years now and they are still going strong. I do not run in them mind. This is because my right foot over-pronates and it looks like I am trying to do the twist when running (my ankle practically touches the ground). Therefore the Inov8 shoes are better for me because they offer more support. Also remember that you cannot put on a pair of fivefingers or inov8 and crack a 4 minute mile. You need to 'wear your feet in' so to speak. We have been wearing soft, spongy shoes all our life. Drifters in Cape Quarter and Sandton City stock both brands.
  23. Dunkeld are the only guys that I use. Dave
  24. Hardrock hands down, great frame.
  25. It's about the same as the red route.
